You are truly a gifted artist. Your lessons show a generosity of heart and spirit. I am in my seventies and just started to play a year ago. Still struggling with bends, but working at it. Thank you for what you do. You make anyone want to do better.
A million thanks for the knowledge you share, the simplification of stuff that always seems to be out of reach, and in such a beautiful way!, nobody does it the way you do, you are truely amazing ❤
Showing the Golden Melody some love today. I absolutely love these harps. With the stock equal temperment tuning, they have a very unique and sweet sound that always helps with an aggressive, bluesy style like mine.
It seems that I'm amazed almost each time I listen to Jason Ricci. There'll never be another Paul Butterfield and I'm confident saying there'll never be another Jason Ricci. This is a really interesting lesson / tune. Reminds me a bit of Afro Blue.
Thanks to you, I have recently escaped a frustratingly long developmental plateau. I've been playing at a semi-professional level for awhile, but it has been quite some time since I noticed any actual _improvement_ in my playing. It's videos like _this_ that have helped me to _finally_ break through and reach that Next Level. These little nuggets of gold are gradually adding up to a fortune for which I'll never be able to properly thank you. The fact that I _also_ get to call you my friend...well...that's a level of joy and gratitude for which there are no words.
Praise God! Thanks Jason! This was one of the things I was missin’. God bless you greatly this Advent Season. Merry Christmas to you and yours! I aim to be meditating on this for awhile-Lord willin’ I’ll get it. SOLI DEO GLORIA -Ronnie
I had to go look up what pedal point was in order to understand what was going on here. Only then I understood and could see the pattern. Then it was like 💡
@@jasonricci You've shown us the basics, so it's time to put into practice. I have tried some 1-4 octaves too... Just for fun. Budadadada like a horn section.
I remember learning about pedal point in music theory in regards to classical. I think originally it came from the organ players who could sustain a note by holding down a pedal. I like to do it with tongue blocked octaves... what I do isn't quite an actual pedal note, since I can't maintain a one blow when I'm trying to play a melody on the right side and need a draw note, but I'll keep the left side on the one hole. (Even thought about retuning a harp so the 1 blow and draw were the same, but that was more of a thought experiment. I think in practice you'll get less dissonance if they aren't.) When you were hitting the root as your pedal tone I was thinking 'pounding on the tonic' would be a great meta line to slip into a song... off to do some writing. (Pounding on the root... no, that has a totally different connotation!) Have a good one. :)

Pedal Point. Never heard of that before in that context. Probably 'cause I'm German LOL. Very helpful. Thanks, Big J.😎

Hi Jason. I asked me from a long time why my pedal point sucks…I think it’s coz’ of rhytm. You use a shuffle rhytm right?
You can use any rhythm! Bit a shuffle rhythm is a great place to start!
Jason, when do you breathe out?
In the air between notes often check out my video chugging on the inhale only ..
Dude your minor pentatonic video has pedal point. Practically pulled out wait remaining hair I have to learn this. 😅
You and that damn over blow. 😂🤣😅
😂😆😂
