Great video. I served aboard the Hamilton in the mid 80's and worked on the starboard side Firefighting crew during flight ops. They are such Beautiful ships.
Hi mate great video and appreciate the upload.... Just a quick Question, What time of the year was this recored ? Thanks and hope you have a great week :-)
Thanks for watching! While it was obviously sped up a little bit, the ship was capable of reaching top speeds of around 25 kts. During this transit we were doing a more modest 20 kts.
@@serenitynow2481 Thank you for your nice video & confirmation about right handed turns. Anyways, I hold the idea about South Polar Centered Flat Earth.
Thanks for watching. I hear you there. While the gopro had 1080@60 capabilities my camera which shot the non-time lapse sections could only do 1080@30. So I tried to make it all match. I definitely agree 60fps is better.
Most of it is gopro footage from the ship's "flying bridge". The helicopter footage is a combination from my Nikon Camera and some gopro. I have a list of gear in my video's description.

It happens, but it was pretty calm on this transit.

Thanks for the comment! I was fortunate to get to see a lot of what the Pacific had to offer during my tour on MELLON.
15:08 Little Toot. Not enough night scenes
Unfortunately between clouds and stability, the night footage didn't turn out good. Thanks for watching.
Great video and amazing sailing
Thank you! Thanks for watching.
すごい👀
Thanks for watching
its like putting the mariana trench sideways and multimply it times 895068 thats how fricken big is
Imagine the 1600s traveling in thier time period compared to ours rn
For sure. Explorers used to ship out on 4+ year voyages... what wild times that must have been
not to mention the unpredictable storms and loosing such way (big example: crossing the Pacific ocean or the Atlantic).
Was just thinking that, with those glassy seas they would be sitting for a while.
well that's a blue-water planet-bound combat vessel for you....
Thanks for watching
dam the ocean is big
When you're right you're right!
nice timelapse!
Thank you! It was a great trip
Great video. Did you see pollution in the ocean?
We did not see the "garbage patch" that is talked about. Generally not much pollution off shore. Mostly near-shore.
Go to 2:30 and watch at .25 speed for a few seconds. Can anyone explain that line of discoloration in the water that the ship passes over?
Now that I think about it its probably just a ray of sunlight shining through the clouds
Thanks for watching. Sometimes currents creates areas of discoloration in the water. That's what it looks like to me anyway.
Love this
Great to hear! Thanks for watching!
how long did it take?
It took about 7-8 days. We gained about 1 hour each day, which helped. Thanks for watching!
@@serenitynow2481 By the time lapse it clearly took 2 days (っ.° _ °.)っ

Thank you for the reply. It was filmed the summer of 2019.
Have a great week!
Ship name?
USCGC MELLON (WHEC 717). She has since been decommissioned.
This ship is very fast!
Thanks for watching! While it was obviously sped up a little bit, the ship was capable of reaching top speeds of around 25 kts. During this transit we were doing a more modest 20 kts.
This is not timelapse. The ship is obviously going around 1500mph. Very strong engine.
@@kmntr.n that's top secret info... 🤫🤫
And cameraman with amazing stamina :D
Looks like by total, the ships goes turning right. Is that true?
Not quite sure what you're asking. We did make quite a lot of right handed turns on the journey, but there were some lefts too. Thanks for watching.
@@serenitynow2481 Thank you for your nice video & confirmation about right handed turns. Anyways, I hold the idea about South Polar Centered Flat Earth.
i was waiting for the night stars but oh well
The night time-lapse didn't come out very good. We moved around too much for it it seems. Thanks for watching
it's a really good video... but... can you make it 60fps??

How did you film the video anyway?
Most of it is gopro footage from the ship's "flying bridge". The helicopter footage is a combination from my Nikon Camera and some gopro. I have a list of gear in my video's description.
@@serenitynow2481 ah ok
How many days it takes for this journey
It was about 7 days
@@serenitynow2481 lmao it is impossible to cross pacific from Japan to us in 7 days🤣🤣🤣. Are you kidding
Definitely possible and ships do it all the time.
It's not impossible. Great circle route, plus you're heading east which adds hours to the day(s). May have been 8 days.....
@@serenitynow2481 but an transatlantic crossing from east bound or west bound take only a week. Pacific is more wide...so how its possible.
