I still remember my first Jeep. It was an Ex-British Army WW2 Austin Champ, with the Rolls Royce 2.838 cc engine. The best feature for me was the 3 gear leavers. One for High and Low ratios, one for the 5 speed manual gear-box/transmission, and one for Forward and Reverse. So you could go through the 5 gears forward too get to the top speed of 64.6 mph/104 kph Manufacturers stated top speed, (I know mine did 80 mph. OK, it was down hill with the wind behind me, but I did it), or you could put it in revers gear, and go through the 5 speed manual gear box/transmission up to 65 mph backwards. Great fun, and it's one of those vehicles you wish you still had.
Wow, that looks like the same jeep i put a motor in when I worked in Bend at a machine shop on the north end of townin 1992 or 1993, but the engine was Chrysler blue at the time, Grea tvideo, Thumbs up, Hello Casey
Quinton this video was a lot of fun. I have watched Casey's and now yours the commentary you three act like brothers more then friends. Seeing the behind the scenes on Casey's video was comical.
Cannot tell you the joy this video brings. I tore down my CJ5 to the frame 2 years ago and some days I am not sure it will ever run again. However, knowing you can pick one up out of a field and drive it helps me remember that it will rise again!
Well, you could call it mustard or French's. Tennessee for Tuxedo. Always remember that line Standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona would not have happened if Jackson Browne's Jeep hadn't broke down.
Nice drive, lol! Probably should have introduced your support crew, tho most of us already know... Nice find, should be very kool rig with a light rebuild. Should provide many years of fun, & content, lol! Thanx !
I like the pause between "absolute" and "adventure" at 7:15🙂 Also, you're lucky the officer didn't decide to do a road side safety check on you (or he was afraid to after seeing the condition of your rig)
Those central Oregon hills in the summer are no joke. I had my mostly reliable car climbing out of one of those valleys, blowing AC, showing normal temp levels and then a plastic expansion tank exploded and I lost all the coolant. Anyway, that's what adventures are made of is the crazy times and the good stories.
Haha glad you guys made it. I never planned on driving it on the road until i got the power steering done and fixed a lot of things. It was just used for hunting and wheeling mainly the last few years. I didnt have much money back when i got it in 2016 so i went the cheap route on getting it drivable. Then never went back and fixed it right. It worked so didnt have the motovation.
You are going to have a great little buggy once you get it all fixed up! I followed you from Casey. Can't wait to see her in all her beauty as you fix 'er up❤
Cop should of known better. It’s shaped like a brick. It’s old….? When did he think it would ever go over 60mph?? No no 55mp…..?? No no. 50…?? Oh come on. 45 down hill white knuckling the steering suggested wheel. Your turn suggesting the direction you think you would like to go… or hope??
Just watched Casey LaDelle's video on this find! ruclips.net/video/WiWX1-h-Ly4/видео.html The thing I was always wanting in a CJ was an all-metal top and doors. The soft stuff and open top never made much sense to my application, which was SAR work. With the all-metal you get a good ground plane for radio antennas. With solid doors your gear is much more secure when the Jeep CJ had to be parked at the end of a 4x4 trail as you went backpacking in to do a wilderness rescue. Now add in the basic and easy to maintain 4x4 drive train and you really had a great thing going for you! That yellow CJ is a terrific find, whatever the price. A little sweat equity will give you a wonderful backcountry machine for years to come!
Interesting Jeep. Saw this in CL. Body is an early 70's vintage based on the gas tank filler location and the panel over where the filler was located for tank when it was under the driver's seat in the 60's and earlier Cj-5s. Hard to say about the vintage of the frame. Yes, those frames were brittle and prone to cracking. Hard to believe they went to all that work to lower the stock steering when they did the SOA conversion. Would have been easier and a better outcome to have swapped in a saginaw steering box. Nice jeep - love the 225 V-6. I had a 69. Please keep the V-6! They have plenty of power for a light Cj-5 and get pretty good fuel economy when they're tuned and running right. I used to get 20 mpg cruising down the highway at 60. Not only did you have the transfer case in 4 high but you probably didn't have the overdrive in high. Otherwise you could have pulled the Ochoco grade doing 55 with no problems. Good luck with your new jeep!
I was short on money and wanted to get it moving. I never realized it wasnt a true 66. I was going off the vin while i owned it. I just used it for hunting and snow wheeling. I had almost everything rounded up including an open knuckle 30 front end but lost interest in it. I do love the oddfire though. Torqy engine
Wait a minute. Spaces for side marker lights, no tank under the drivers seat, no side fill. Tuxedo Park without a column shift? This is more of a Frankenjeep than a true 66.
It's obviously a replacement body. The '66 would have originally had the gas tank under the driver seat. There is no indentation for the filler neck.. Also it does not have the stock tail lights. My folks had a '68 and the tail brake lights were round with totally separate back up lights. Also, the rear axle, or at least the axle shafts, are not original. The original had a hub which was held on to the tapered end of the axle with a big nut. I drove that Jeep thousands of miles through California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah. Trips, the memory of which, I cherish. We had a homemade fabric half top and half doors made from the full doors from a full soft top. Loved the distinctive sound of that odd fire Dauntless V-6.
I'd fight that one in court, I'd get all the farm tractor around and drive them up and down that road, top on that jeep is about 50mph, if it's got 5:38 gears
Casey might recognize me for my pestering him to get a plow for one of his trucks,,, now I can pester you instead,, to do the same with this one… along with tracks brother,,, tell me what you think?…
So the fire crews can park their truck wherever they need to. Often blocking a whole lane or on a blind curve. The pilot vehicle sets the speed and the lane used. People are also distracted by the fire and this helps enormously with safety. As conditions change it is much easier to have a pilot vehicle change the path than trying to throw traffic cones all over the place.
Yes! It is not the name on the filter, it is how often you change them and the oil! Same with the oil, the brand means less than how often you change it.
Our videos ended up the exact same length 😂
Now they get a whole hour of casey and quinton hahaha
Casey Casey Casey. This is NOT a Di….. I mean a video measuring contest

Brought back memories my first experience was a friend’s dad bought a mid 60s cj5 with V6 power in 1972 we drove it more than his dad
Wow, that looks like the same jeep i put a motor in when I worked in Bend at a machine shop on the north end of townin 1992 or 1993, but the engine was Chrysler blue at the time, Grea tvideo, Thumbs up, Hello Casey
I was wondering when Iron King and Casey LaDelle do a collaborate content, boom here it is.
Great find. That Jeep is awesome.
I am about to take my CJ5 on a 600 mile trip. Same 3 speed with a small Rough Country lift. Have me pumped seeing this beforehand.
I cant wait to see that jeep rebuilt, that's going to be awesome.. Keep us informed brother :)
Quinton this video was a lot of fun. I have watched Casey's and now yours the commentary you three act like brothers more then friends.
Seeing the behind the scenes on Casey's video was comical.
I love your Jeep! Even with everything falling apart. LOL!
Cannot tell you the joy this video brings. I tore down my CJ5 to the frame 2 years ago and some days I am not sure it will ever run again. However, knowing you can pick one up out of a field and drive it helps me remember that it will rise again!
I bought a '65 with 6200 mi. for $500
With a cab and snow plow. New seals throughout, rings , bearings and gaskets and fluids, drove it for years.
Well, you could call it mustard or French's. Tennessee for Tuxedo. Always remember that line Standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona would not have happened if Jackson Browne's Jeep hadn't broke down.

Wow, my wife just sent me the craigslist ad to this jeep the other day. Haha!
Glad you made it. Thanks for the video
Very cool adventure!!!
looks like a great project!
I like the pause between "absolute" and "adventure" at 7:15🙂 Also, you're lucky the officer didn't decide to do a road side safety check on you (or he was afraid to after seeing the condition of your rig)
Just nursing an old vjeep home he was being followed, tailed by a towing company from Bend there
He probably didn't want to get too caught up in it. His shift ended in another 4 hours. 😂
hahaha, for real.
I like your videos! You have a positive attitude and it shows. Keep doing these "finds"; love your rebuild videos too. :)

Kool road trip! with Budz that give are there to laugh at you...
Nice Jeep ,Got to call it the Yellow Peril 😂 .

wow an antique gas pump lol
Great jeep
I saw the adventure on Casies channel . A fine adventure
I had to come over here to see what it was about. And come on it’s a Jeep.
You can more than likely call C&C Surplus in Nashville In and get parts for your Jeep
Great video new sub will follow this build or revival whatever you will call it 👍
You are going to have a great little buggy once you get it all fixed up! I followed you from Casey. Can't wait to see her in all her beauty as you fix 'er up❤
Hey brother,, your making lemonade,,lol… She’ll be a beauty when you’re done with it…
YESSS!!
“Impeding Traffic” - I hope you’re proud of yourself.

those old ones are so cool. That radiator should only be filled to just above the core, the rest is for expansion. It's like my old tractor.
Having watched Casey's video first, I salute you, Sir, for your optimistic initial review of the CJ's condition...🤣
So are you going to slam a 3208 cat in that 1966 jeep? 😊
Oh a little Perkins would be great, or Kubota
Loved your trip up Highway and the turn at Service Creek. Didn’t want to use the Waterman Road? Gonna enjoy the work on it

Hi! I'm over from Casey's channel!! Does Matt know you have a YELLOW jeep? 👀 #MORR
Great adventure with great friends

Yes. A mix of different year parts. Not much Tux left if it’s really a tux.
Saw you on Casey's channel and thought I would come over and give you a hard time 😀
Wait a minute. Spaces for side marker lights, no tank under the drivers seat, no side fill. Tuxedo Park without a column shift? This is more of a Frankenjeep than a true 66.
That jeep looks awfull familiar. Sure looks like my grandpas old jeep.
You should have name dropped Casey to boost your views. 😅🤣
what is the difference between even and odd fire?
Great video guys! Love the Willy's...I hope you have many years of enjoyment with it.
I’ve got a spare front grill for that model year
I want to know more about that rock buggy parked next to the OBS!
What are your plans whit this one?
transfer case shifter is in 4 hi
NOW we need to see what you are going to do with that thing ...
Got on Caterpillar parts in it so can't fix it up to redell !!!
Those "odd fire" V6's have really ready bad habit of spinning #3 & #4 rod bearings.....ask me how I know
Not sure
Would of been fitting water gator aid helmet
Nice video! How about Magnolia as a name for the Jeep?
How dare you slow down a cop when he's trying to 90mph over the mountain.
...or "Lemon Drop".
Just put a trigle on the back and farm tags
Also, not a Willys. That's fully a Kaiser Jeep
66 with side marker lights??

do you want a set of doors
Why not use the overdrive?
you have no fan shroud, that decreases airflow min 50%
I'd fight that one in court, I'd get all the farm tractor around and drive them up and down that road, top on that jeep is about 50mph, if it's got 5:38 gears

What did you pay for it ?.
"Lemon Peel"
You’ve got a lot of little and BIG PROBLEMS to fix. First time I’ve every had 3 people with video cameras doing one trip.
tweety
What are you going to do with it? Drive it, restore it, put 60s under it?
Not a 66 tub or fenders
Scared of the steering.
15:20 European here, can someone explain the pilot car to me? Why would you need an escort vehicle there?
So the fire crews can park their truck wherever they need to. Often blocking a whole lane or on a blind curve. The pilot vehicle sets the speed and the lane used. People are also distracted by the fire and this helps enormously with safety. As conditions change it is much easier to have a pilot vehicle change the path than trying to throw traffic cones all over the place.
@@BKinzey Ah, I see. Thank you!
Haha its Hilomar 101sealant. Its actually really good stuff.
Piss everyone off and put a fram back on it I have run fram filters for 30 years and never had a problem
Yes! It is not the name on the filter, it is how often you change them and the oil!
Same with the oil, the brand means less than how often you change it.
