      @@johnbanco862 My thoughts on this pocket knife… it’s much beefier than all my other camp knife’s. I think it will take all the abuse on throws at it. The bail might be larger than sum but some orange paracord through it will keep me from losing it. Also, Dave’s name scratched on the big blade will be a nice reminder of all the knowledge Dave has shared with me through his videos over the years.

    Hi. If you're willing to sacrifice a knife for your audience. I would be interested in knowing how really reliable the bale is and how much of the opener you need to trim to get it to lie correctly. Thanks for the video.

    I've got one of these knives and I found the can opener pretty dull, had to sharpen it.

  • @KnifeChatswithTobias

    The only plus on this knife to me was the larger blade. I’m still not impressed with it. As I’ve got other better scout knives this is just there as a curiosity piece.
    Unless you’re planning on using it , I’d leave it alone. Who knows it might be good trade material later!

    Hello. The problem if you remove the bail is that the bolster is all scratched up behind it from all that movement. Perhaps just put a decorative lanyard on it. I would leave as is and carry it in a pic nic set or edc bag but not as a pocket edc. All the best.

    I like the big funky looking can opener. I wouldn't mod it for appearance, but that's just me.
    30٪ bigger soup opened with a 30% bigger can opener. 😂
    I do like the larger main blade. It Might be worth picking up that knife just for the uniqueness of it.

    • @WilliamsKnifeLife
      @WilliamsKnifeLife 3 года назад

      If you remove the bale, you won't have the ability to tie a rope to it & throw it over a tree limb. Not that you would do that very often.

    Take some metal off the kick and it will look and feel better! I did this on my RR and it made a big difference. I have the Marbles on the way and will mod mine as well.

    A knife like that would
    not stay in my collection.
    I would pass it on to
    a neighborhood kid
    that was old enough to
    have a knife and his
    parents approved him
    having that knife.

    It’s a hard decision to remove metal from a blade unless it’s absolutely necessary for functionality. If the can opener is uncomfortable against the middle two fingers when using the main blade, then I’d drop it down for sure.

    • @KnifeDetector
      @KnifeDetector  3 года назад

      Yes, it is a bit uncomfortable . Plus I really want to pocket carry it, and that bale just bugs me :)

    I like the design of this one man its interesting like most of your other finds, I think this is the company I was looking into for a hatchet...they are budget cheap and supposedly pretty darn good I read. If only someone could make the absolute all in one perfect knife, as imperfect beings that probly isn't possible lol. Gotta accept the flaws as they come I always say :) . Great showcase, it did take the lid off the can so yep. Have a great weekend partner!!!

    Don’t mess with it. I wonder if you’d be able to open the cam opener. Back when Scouts started canned food was the only thing. So, the can opener.

    I'm CONSTANTLY making modifications to my knives, some I regret, some I'm happy with, so I can never blame anyone who chooses to do so. Having said that, on this piece, I don't think the hump looks bad at all, I think it looks quite attractive and I would not mess with it. (and I just subbed you btw, this was the first vid I watched, and I'll look forward to more!)
    God bless,

    Along with a couple of real ones I have the Marbles all stainless US Army knife with the same 4 blades. It is a great all purpose $10 knife with a spoon for $2 more. However only 3 3/4 closed. That 1/2 inch extra is larger than appears. I might get one but I am against grinding on the can opener. They have to be gotten used to but if workee no fixee.

  • @denofearthundertheeverlast5138

    I just seen a review on SMKW and it has the same problems as yours...or was that your review? I wouldn't be very happy, every time I order from them I get a not so good knife, its like the people that go there in person can pick out a great looking and functioning knife, but if you order from them they give you crap just to pawn if off on you, they do not check the knife before shipping and that pisses me off.
