Nice to hear someone else who composes their own music for their RUclips videos. I, too, compose all my own music on my own RUclips videos.
As for painting mountains, I live in the South Island of New Zealand, so there is a good deal of reference material not far away. I must try your method! Thanks for posting.

i have a question, do a lot of professional artist that draw concept landscapes for video game companies such has Destiny 2, Battlefield, Halo and other games that have beautiful landscapes use this technique of using real life textures as brushes? or they draw every single detail? Or does it depend on the artist himself, bc ive seen people use this technique and the results are honestly superb for the most part, and i was curious to know if professionals thta work gaming companies use this or not.

I'm not in the field myself but if you're making concept art I'd imagine that you want to make it efficiently and quickly, but probably you'd want to put in more time in more important stuff like promotional material and whatnot.

All of the digital artists use more photo-shop than real painting, at least from what I can see from all of these videos. If you are interested in seeing digital art created on the computer with artist tools solely from the program 'PAINT'. Please send your email information. sv.stefanmeyer@gmail.com. I have been doing this now for about 15-20 years, since I purchased my first PC with office 2000 professional. The paintings (in the beginning) were crude, but I have managed to upgrade my online skills to almost match the skills level of excellent acrylic artists.

i can only agree with that one comment below, its NOT painting, its photo editing no matter if you turn it into a brush or something you dint had done it yourself .. just copy pasted some rocks and recolored them, there is no tallent or effort needet :/ every idiot can that, my own opinion on that is, i not even consider something like that as art, art is something that comes out of your heart, wishes, dreams and emotions.. not google stock photos. its just more as just a picture that someone had created

Maybe I shouldn't use Photoshop, it's cheating! I'll have to program a new software myself. Actually the computer is also cheating, let me build one. But the components need metal, so I'll go mine some copper and iron ore to make the circuitry. But I need tools for that... I'm now a tool maker for iron ore mining and I haven't gotten much art done lately, but at least I'm not cheating, right? :)

No point in being limited, friend! Use the tools you have at your disposal. Using photos as brush textures is just one of the techniques used to paint digitally. :)

Sticking photos together isn't what I'd call painting. A 6 year old can do that.

mrrrloc I appreciate your comment, mrrrloc. :) Thanks! And that's fine, let me teach you something new! This is more of a matte painting style. In matte painting, you use photo texture to achieve realism. It's a type of painting that has been made very popular for films, games and TV shows for quite a while now. While I do several art styles, including painting everything 100%, I do prefer using several techniques to get a good style going. :)

it's great if a 6 year old can do that, means the tools are doing their job, I'd love to see the final result of that 6 year old's work too!
