Aw! I'm so bummed I missed this challenge! I loved seeing all the beautiful submissions and helpful feedback #lifehappens >< I hope you create more challenges like this in the future! :D
There's a website called mapcrunch that picks a random street view for you. There's also a Facebook group for this called virtual plen air where you can post the results
This looks quite simple (although I’m aware it comes with practice). I’ve been looking at how to practice landscape paintings to transition towards creating my own and this definitely shows me how. Thank you 😊
Absolutely brilliant. I came accros this in Covid lockdown and absolutely captured my mind, now im back at work and all i do is watch you for therapy. How sad a world i need to work 12 hour days just to stay afloat. Love what you do bro....... keep it going .!!! Artist at play !!
Glad you posted this! It's been difficult finding someone, especially a well known artist, who uses Google Maps as inspiration for landscapes and how to properly approach this process. Perfect timing for the upload too
@@WalidFeghali in the case you would want to do something like this again, you can try to do a study of an urban area, with a lot of details :) maybe even Rio/Bangladesh/Tokyo types of streets, or maybe Russian 'post-apocalyptic' urban scapes :D. I really find those hard to study xD
Hey you said quite a while back that you would do a video with your settings for the concept brush pack. Is that still on the radar? Would love to follow along but I can't get the same effect in my photoshop.
Enjoyed watching and learning more of your technique, Please could you explain how you display the subject manner at PS and also have the canvas displayed at the same screen please?
Brushes dont really matter but the settings are very important. They cant be 100% opacity because you wont be able to layer them and if you are doing line art and sketching pressure sensitivity will help a lot.
is it okay to know paint digitally but dont know how to paint traditionaly of canvas? because i know about digital painting but i dont know how to paint in oil or watercolor
You use surprisingly small canvases... usually I use 4K minimum (I’m referring to that your painting without the reference is 2000). Do you use small canvases for more “finished” artwork too? Is that okay? What canvas size is generally required/desired in a professional work environment?
It can depend on what you want to do with the art once it's finished. There aren't really any rules on what size to use, but if you are going to be posting your art professionally, I think 3k or 4k is a good minimum. If you ever plan to print your art and sell it, you especially want the biggest canvas your computer can handle without lagging or crashing (and make sure you are set to 300 dpi as well). A smaller canvas is fine for studies or sketches I think, and I've even seen some artists create a rough sketch of their painting using a very small canvas, and then resizing it to 4k before the "official" painting begins.
This is labled "for beginners" but as a beginner myself, I don't follow this at all. It's entertaining to watch, but it would be nice if you slowed down a bit and explained your decisions more.

Using google maps to find interesting reference images is such a cool idea I'd probably never have thought of myself. Thanks for sharing it!

John Jowitt Make a canvas that is double the size of what you need and then paste the reference image on one half of the space?
@@ayaneagano6059 #thanks , simple when you know how, I suppose a pasted PSD would be best.
What are your thoughts on 2D artists using 3D tools like Blender, Unreal, etc. for composition?
My main problem is not knowing which brush to use and which ones NOT to use. Could you explain that to me?
do some experiments with the brushes your own. you will also learn new way to paint things. dont be afraid, just do it. besta luck
I'll explain this in a future video :) W

I saw how to paint beautiful undies in the thumbnail
Hahahah
for me at least, its hard to follow along when you use so many different brushes, some I can't find on my program
they're gonna go to your house by the google map location of yours.

It is ok, but practicing traditional will really help improve your digital work.
@@CullensArtBox oh ok but i really didin't have a kanvas so i dint know what i will use for traditional paint
@@vincentyusan5228 well if you use acrylic, watercolor or gouache you can use paper.
@@CullensArtBox oh ok sure thx for the suggestion you giving to me
@@vincentyusan5228 no problem, there is special paper for water color and gouache that you might want to look into.
