    I like and apreciate all the tips and advices and LOVE the concern about our safety and the "go with what you got attitude" even though, of course, one sooner or later is going to upgrade. Thank you SO MUCH for that attitude!

    Absolutely love your packed with info videos sir. Better to get as much advice and tips from someone who paddles on all sorts of boards (inflatable and rigid) and water conditions than from someone who sticks to just one kind of board, paddles, and water types. Thank you. :-)

    Beautiful boards Reuben! And great intro points to those interested in downwinding! Especially the safety aspects. Keep it fun! Keep it safe!

    Didn’t know I’d done this?! My Wife and I went on our Qurocs surfing (ish) on our knees from Borth. We stopped at a Spit for lunch with a seal. Then the water was totally flat for a SUP to Aberystwyth South beach. Mega trip!!

    Interesting, I have never herd about down winding. In my normal SUP adventures I will typically paddle 3-4 miles into the wind then turn back and have an easy ride back to the car as long as the wind does not change. So I think that I have been doing down winding but with a harder upwind portion. Same with cycling as with SUP its usually best to go against the the environmental forces at the start so going home is easier. Can you list name of the safety vest/float pack in the video description, I have not seen that brand before. My personal favorite device to carry is my Garmin watch with the GPS telling me at a glance the direction home. Thanks.

      Hey Walter, Thanks for your comment. You are hard core! paddling into wind is not easy but I can see your point and yes it's downwinding. But with DW you can travel further, fast and in more wind.
      Here is a link to the PFD's we use :palmequipmenteurope.com/product/glide-1 There are a few different ones on the market. But for the safety and size they're great.
      The second part of the DW video will be out this week so look out for that...Hope it helps you get into more dedicated DW because it's such good fun. Thanks Reuben / SUPboarder

    Great vids you have, and inspiring to learn about downwinding, a concept i'd never heard of before. I just bought me a Starboard Freeride 12'2 x 30. I know that any board can be used, but will this be particularly suitable for downwinding on the lakes where i live? I also have access to a Red Sport 11'3 x 32 and a Starboard Wide point 10'5. Where will they accel? Cheers from freezing Norway...

      Hi Andres, your new Starboard will be great for DW on. The Freeride is a very fun and easy board to get into DW on. Perfect I would say. Just get out there and start off in lighter winds and work you way up to the real windy windy stuff. Next video is out soon. Thanks Reuben

    Please help me! Hi How can I recognize a bump or good bump? 🙏🙏

    • @SUPboardermag
      @SUPboardermag  5 месяцев назад

      ahh, good question. A good bump or the best bump is when it is at its steepest. If big enough it maybe about to break as well. But if you are paddling fast enough a smaller bump will do also. Time on the water seeing how bumps and waves move is really the best way to recognise this. Thanks Reuben

      Make sure to watch the full series of these videos as it prepares you for downwinding. Lots of safety involved but it's good fun. Thanks, Beau
