Thanks for sharing this video! Ive had a hard time finding any video from the event. As an active Coast Guardsman, I also love that you included video of our crews from Station Golden Gate doing surf training! Well done.
Really wonderful surf video that really shows what surfing OB is all about. I grew up surfing on this beach and you really captured the feel of what it's like to surf OB, particularly on a big swell. Actually, the waves weren't that big but the intervals were very close together which makes trying to get out, PARTICULARLY ON A SUP...all the more ridiculous..hahaha....thanks again for the also very insightful and fun commentary !!! Aloha !!!!
Today I caught my first 3 waves on my isup! Super stoked! I watch your videos religiously, always trying to get a little more info or notice something I didn't catch or understand previously. I love all the little nuances you place in your videos. Thanks so much. I really believe that you have helped me tremendously. I began on flat water and now I am hitting the beach, gaining more confidence and knowledge on each outing. It has been a struggle, but progressing feels amazing. Can't wait for the next video.
Started flatwater SUP'ing this summer and had my very first surf experience on a day at the beach. These videos are really inspiring me to take on more surf (and especially down wind ocean boarding). Keep up the good work!
I live in Hilo, Hawaii and paddle surf about every other day. My favorite is rough water workouts and just plain hot-dogging it. It is like a bucking bronco in one area of my favorite spot, Richardson's Beach. I broke a board in half two months ago there! Stay safe!
Looks like Slater Trout (in the spring suit) finished. Wasn't sure before as I'd seen another Infinity race board broken in half at Ocean Beach. Thanks for the good footage! Hard to find on this event.
Yes Trout finished and that is him in the spring suit. The boards on the beach at the beginning of the video were backups in case they broke a board. The racers had caddies shadowing them as they came in ready to swap a board if need be.
4:09 We have the same shit in our water here in Washington. See the greenish brown bubbles stuck to the sand at the tideline. It's called sewage. I didn't have to swim in this in my day!

Classic Ocean Beach. The inside sand bar is the price of admission. Heavy!

Can you duck dive like a regular surfer, or is that against the rules?
Boards are to big to duck dive, no rules.
@@clayisland Thanks I just saw that in one of your other videos.
You sound like Andrew from LAHWF hah
