A FIFTH wise decision in retirement is to never neglect checking in with you, Tina and Norm, for new videos with great updated content. When I finally retired in November of last year (thanks, in large part, to your videos) I thought, "Well, now I don't have to watch those guys anymore because I know it all." Boy, was I ever wrong. Am I ever glad and, may I say, relieved that I've continued to hang out with you two wonderful kids every Saturday, without fail😀🤠❤⚘ Don't get sunburned out there, you two!🌞🌞
Thanks for a wonderful comment Richard, we are so glad we have helped you and others retire and that we still have your company every week Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🇨🇦🍺
Don’t worry bro! The real sunburn will be at the cremation! Lol🔥🔥🔥….ok, my bad! 😜✌️
@@MrSteveblue824 Oooh, that burns me up!😜💛💚
Lovely comment. And so true!
We lodged our wills with a firm of lawyers and emailed the details to those concerned. That is another option.
Good idea thanks for sharing Glen Cheers 🌺🍷😎
Hi 30s!! More than I can deal with!

That is too funny Linda LOL 😂😂Cheers 🍷😎🌺
I have never thought of the passwords list. THANKS!
Our pleasure Linda
1) will and POA's updated earlier this year 2022, check 2) I have the Lastpass app ( it is free) that holds all my passwords and only need one written down, check 3) arrangements for after death taken care of just before the pandemic hit in 2020, check 4) see number 1, check I also have what I call my EOL file ( in purchasing EOL is end of life ) It lists all the contacts, id's, and account numbers for insurance, investments, utilities and social sites I have. Also it will contain in writing what I wish if I get ill and the POA takes effect, we have also discussed it. This will help my three children by not having to make them decide what to do as they are all aware of what I would want. It is great to have these conversations now when I am healthy instead of having to discuss when and end is imminent.
Sounds awesome Maureen, you are so much better organized than us, congratulations and thanks for sharing your system.
Yes my father prepaid the cremation, and the church mass, etc. He didn't prepay embalming, but I was the only one to see him in person. My father did the prepay so there was no big issue. He did it a year or 2 before he passed away at 84. I then did get some better or mini urns like my mother had got. The funeral director that handled it all put the ashes in the urns since I bought those from him.
But the mass at our local church was also prepaid. He already had his headstone and plot. My mother was buried there, and they had previously bought it before my mother passed at 73.
There were many differences of opinion when she died so this preplanning helped
Thanks Angel for sharing your experience, it is really helpful. We have decided to have cremation and then scatter the ashes. We are glad your Father helped you by pre planning.
I am a funeral preplanning representative. Thank you for reminding your viewers about the importance of getting this done. Makes sense financially and emotionally - a true gift to your loved ones.
It's our pleasure and an important topic for retirees to consider, thanks for watching.
My mother-in-law passed away a week ago Saturday, my father-in-law had already passed away and their funerals were pre-paid. What we have noticed this time around is that the customer service isn't nearly as good as it was with my fil. Her funeral is tomorrow, that is 11 days after they were notified and it was their first available date (so they said). We noticed that people that passed away after her are having their services first. We think that because the sale was already a done deal, they don't need to win our business (so to speak).
We have decided for own arrangements to have all of the decisions made (types of flowers, pallbearers, readings, and on and on) but leave the location up to the children. We will not have a burial but a simple cremation to expedite the occasion and not have the family lingering for 11 days before they can process their grief and move on. Regarding the price, the same casket isn't available anymore so we have to pay the difference, the funeral home doesn't permit the Catholic Women's League to do the refreshments (money was set aside for that) but the funeral home will charge more than 4 times the amount of money that was set aside, the plot was also paid for but to have the grave dug, it is an additional $1,386. My husband had power of attorney and was on the accounts as a joint account holder so the situation isn't held up by settling the estate. In our situation in the event that we both go at the same time, we intend to open a joint account with our executor with enough money in it to pay for the expenses upfront prior to the estate being settled, so there won't be the need to find the money.
Good morning Paula we are sorry to hear about your loss , we are hearing that full service funeral homes are a lot more expensive . When Norms dad passed away there was about a 10 day wait for the funeral too. We are just looking at having a simple cremation and celebration 🍾 of life service . Thanks for sharing and take care 🌺🙂🌺
Very good points. Funeral arrangements can be very stressful for the family if clear directives aren't given ahead of time. Wills also very important - it's enough work settling an estate that has a will, but one without a will is more difficult. Having all the important documents in one place is a super idea.
At Turner and Porter Funeral home you can purchase a repatriation package for under $500 and this is from anywhere in the world. Well worth the money and trying to organize when out of country.
Awesome information thanks for sharing Rita have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷😎🌺
Beautiful location and really important topics, thank you both for such informative and timely information! Have a great weekend!

Howdy Tina, Norm,
Great tips, lots to digest & add to plan. Liked the remote location too.
Glad you enjoyed it Ben have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺😎
Great tips and Thanks for everything yo both do for all of us....!!!
Our pleasureTerry!
My wife and I discussed several of the issues talked about where we give each other power of attorney, but we also added a secondary so that if we both died at once, as in a traffic or airline accident we had that situation covered.
Great point Bob in case it might happen best to be prepared Cheers 🍷🌺😎
Thank you Tina and Norm for bringing these important matters to our attention. You are certainly selling Canada to me with those lovely location shots 😁❤️
We are pleased you enjoy seeing some of our area of Canada 💕🇨🇦

Thank you for sharing such a good information!
You are so welcome! have a great weekend Cheers 😎🍷🌺
I think “on locations” are great! Very informative show. This has been on my to do list for a while. Need to address it even if it is a bit difficult.
Thanks for watching Barbara have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺😎
Muy buen video y muy buenas ideas para pensar! Además hermosos lugares para ver!!! Gracias!!
Nos alegra que hayas disfrutado el video y hayas visto algo de Canadá.
Gosh, such an important topic! Great video. We have recently updated both our wills and created an estate to divide all assets. Love the “on location” Keep up the great work 👍❤️
Glad it was helpful! glad you liked the location shots Anne have a wonderful weekend Cheers 😎🍷🌺
You folks are the best! You make us think about things that we might not want to. Our mortality is something that is difficult to deal with. Our wills, POA's and medical directives are in place but we will have to look into Funeral and burial arrangements. It's been interesting and fun seeing you on location!
We are glad you enjoyed our location video, and thanks for your kind comment have a nice Sunday.
You two are the best couple on RUclips!!! Thanks for the videos!!!
Our pleasure! we are glad you enjoy them see you Saturday Cheers 🍷🌺😎
I think your outside videos have been a nice change but all of your videos are pleasant to watch - wishing y’all safe and well too
That is very nice of you Amy, have a great weekend.
Yes! One folder. I’ve done all this. One of my children is on all of my accounts except the house ownership, so that take-over is super super easy
Thanks for sharing!! sounds like a great plan Deborah Cheers 🍷🌺😎
A timely video about those things most of us really don't like to think about.
We did our funeral arrangements earlier this year. My mother passed a year ago at age 91, and perhaps more relevant, my brother-in-law passed away 3 months ago. He was only a year older than me, healthy as far any anyone could tell, and to see him go in just a few months from pancreatic cancer was a real eye opener as to how tenuous our grip on life really is. We have our burial plot and everything else organized and paid for now so one thing less for our children and/or surviving spouse to worry about at what undoubtedly would be a very difficult time.
Thanks for sharing Tinas brother passed unexpectedly at 52 a big shock to us , sorry to hear about your brother in law we don’t know what the future brings have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷😎🌺
Good information and really everyone should thing about doing this.
Well you two are looking like your taking care of yourselves. Your both looking great.
Enjoy your time at the lake, hope the weather holds up into fall for you there. Have a great Summer.
Thanks so much we are enjoying our time there have a wonderful weekend Cheers 😎🌺🍷
Good advice but think very carefully about pre-paying for your funeral. In the UK, some of these companies have gone bust and people have lost their money. We have saving plans and any excess will come out of our Estate. Our funeral wishes are set out in our Wills.
In Canada 🇨🇦 the provincial government protects against this , sorry to hear this has happened in the UK 🇬🇧 Cheers 🍷😎🌺
Dear sweet people, good to see you out and about and having fun!
Thanks for all the good advice! Important!
Good on you for getting your preventative injections!!
Wishing you all the best!
Our pleasure! have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺😎
Great points! Being proactive on these decisions is very good advice.
Thanks so much!
Excellent advice Tina and Norm. I was very interested in the Transfer Services Operator. Thanks for that info - I had never heard of it. Another good piece of advice is to make sure you have all your bank accounts joint accounts. I have a file in our file cabinet labeled "Exit file"...all the info on any accounts/TFSA's etc, and passwords is there for my husband just in case. I made him do the same for me...took him a little longer as it isn't a very pleasant thing to deal with. But necessary! Enjoy this lovely Ontario weather!
We agree Jo it should be all joint and if the account is in a single name the other needs to be the beneficiary for deposit insurance if it’s over $100k . Have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🌺😎
Awesome video! All your videos are great but I really do like this one, great tips for sure!!! Cheers!
Awesome, thank you!
Another helpful video, thanks! I just completed the paperwork to donate my body to a local university. They pick up the body and cremate it for burial in a common grave (after the educational purpose is done). A service is held for all the remains once per year. I received a card to carry in my wallet and of course discussed it with my family...
Thanks for sharing have a great weekend Cheers 🍷😎🌺
Love the backgrounds. Painful subject, ouch. But is something that remains on my “To Do”
list. I bought a template Will program to try. Glad you two brought all this up.
Great idea! it’s a hard topic that needs to be talked about more Marianne Cheers 🍷😎🌺
Hi Tina and Norm! All great tips! We have a binder with all info our kids will need when we pass on. Our children will not have to worry when the time comes. Love seeing you on location❤️
Sounds great Brenda glad you like the location shots we will be doing more enjoy your weekend Cheers 🍷😎🌺
I also did the same thing!👍👍
Just to update you. We made the big step, and retired. Then we moved from Saskatoon, to Listowel Ontario. We sold the house, and have moved into rented apartments. A big move, one we are just getting used too. Now we are over the moving, and buying new furniture etc. We are now, starting to enjoy our new life. Thanks for your videos, which gave us a lot of the information needed, to help us change our lives. I think this move was more stressful, then when we moved from the UK, 17 years ago. Keep up the good work
That’s wonderful congratulations 🥳 on your retirement and move , glad you enjoy our videos have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺😎
I grew up in Listowel 50 years ago, great memories of a small town childhood. Have passed by a few times since, much has changed. Having just retired myself I would be interested in what led to your choice. All the best in your future.
@@j.richardson3638 Hi, we wanted to be in this area, and used Stratford, as a central base. Once here, looking for somewhere to live. Listowel, was the only place that had vacant property that met our needs. Brand new, over 55, no children, and small town. We have been here for 6 weeks, and love it.
Much of this advice is to simply die for!😜✌️Thx Tina & Norm!
Wah, wah, wah.....😂😂 Have a nice weekend Steve
According to Dave Ramsey, you should pre-plan for your funeral but not pre-pay. If the funeral company goes bankrupt during the years leading up to your death, you will lose the money that you paid them. He suggests instead to have all the details of your estate drafted up on paper for your executor and save the money for these expenses in a safe banking instrument like a money market account. I think this makes sense.
In Ontario Canada your payment is protected under law and administered by The Bereavement Authority of Ontario (BAO), provided you use a registered funeral establishment.
@@ThisIsOurRetirement i i lost £3500 in uk, i had assumed the money was protected. It wasnt.
We are sorry to hear that 🌺
I so enjoy your videos. Great information and you two are entertaining also.
Glad you like them! have a great weekend Tanya Cheers 🍷🌺😎
That royal blue shade looks so lovely on you Tina.
Thanks Julie have a wonderful weekend Cheers 😎🍷🌺
Another great video, Tina and Norm. I have done most of these things mentioned in your video except for the password organization. I am old school here as well and have everything down in a book but really like the idea of getting it together with my will and other important papers for my personal representative (one of my brothers). I have paid for my columbarium but perhaps need to think about prepaying for the cremation. Totally agree with you about the Shingrix and pneumonia shots as well.
Thanks so much Sheryl we are glad we got the Shingrix shot 2nd booked for late September Cheers 🍷🌺😎
I think keeping passwords in an envelope with your written will is an excellent idea.
We think so too Julie , guess we are a little old fashioned at heart have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🌺😎🍷
Best password is simply to use three random words. You can decide to use upper/lower case/a mumber or two if preferred for extra security if required. No need for dozens of different ones in a book. Great video.
Thanks for sharing John Cheers 🍺😎🌺
Before my parents passed my dad gave me a spiral notebook that listed all bank acts, investments safe deposit box. My dad had 6 access with different banks. He passed 1st. After my mom brother and I went to all these banks and made sure my brother and I were on these acts and investments. Their estate went smoothly I was executor and poa. Will was in place. We avoided probate except for 1 cd that went to probate coat$$
Your parents did an excellent job for you.
Happy Saturday Norm & Tina! Another great video giving us so much to think about. Everything you discussed today is so important. Having current wills and powers of attorney are critical and pre-arrangements for when we pass away make things so much easier for those left behind. I’m all for the simpler alternatives for cremation and burial but will say that when my father passed away it sure was a help that he and my Mom had pre-arranged everything. The funeral home was so helpful with filing of required paperwork to the federal and provincial governments. So much of this is time sensitive and it’s the last thing a bereaved family wants to be dealing with. That service is well worth it as part of a funeral package (provided the costs is reasonable). My husband and I have all our paperwork in order and it’s neatly filed in a little suitcase type thing that we have hidden in our home and we can easily leave with a family member when we travel. I’ve even left an instruction sheet with all the contact information for our lawyer, accountant etc. I review it every year and we have our wills revised when there are any significant changes in our family (e.g., marriages, grandchildren etc). Keep up the great work and I hope you both feel ok after your double whammy injections!
Thanks for sharing Libbyann you sound very well organized, the arms were a bit sore for 2-3 days and felt out of sorts but nothing compared to getting Shingles small price to pay . Have a great weekend Cheers 🌺🍷😎
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Glad you’re both doing ok! Cheers to you too. ;-)
@@libbyannstew8775 Thanks 🌺
Wow 50k subscribers...well done! Thanks 😊 for the advice. I haven't done a thing for my passing. My only relative is my older brother. I just turned 57 last month. I feel healthy but I know death isn't that far away.
Thanks for your good wishes , although we are older than you Johnny 😂 try to live and enjoy each day as we don’t have a crystal ball 🔮 to know what the future brings Cheers 🍷🌺😎
Hi Tina& Norm Barbara from Brooklyn, location A+but topic so difficult , you are on point but this is the one area of my life were I get a C-- .no will no health care proxy no power of attorney my 93yrs old mother was way ahead of me when she died every thing was on point.Ihave got to get a move on as I am single and my sister's will give me hell for leaving them a mess.As for funeral arrangements your prices are way cheaper than our, my mother plot at Greenwood cemetery alone was 17 thousand $ God knows how much it is now because mom passed in 2017. Thank you difficult subject but much needed.
Don't be too hard on yourself Barbara most people don't do these things, we are here to nag you gently to consider them lol. Our funeral plan we outlined does not cover a plot or headstone, we are opting to be scattered. Have a nice Sunday and thanks so much for watching.
My father in law just recently passed away and my mother in law is in a nursing home dying. The password situation has been a nightmare. I currently have everything listed in a book similar to an address book. The trick is keeping it updated. We definitely will be updating our wills since they are old.
I’m thinking of prepaying for my cremation just so my son doesn’t have to play guessing games after I’m gone. Passwords already with my will, legacy so isl media managers picked and in place. Have to look at the power of attorney next. But at 61, hoping to have lots of time. But one never knows.
We agree Carol we all hope we have lots of time , Tinas younger brother died unexpectedly at 52 ! so as you say you never know have a wonderful weekend Cheers 😎🌺🍷
I cannot stress enough how important a PreNeed Funeral is. We are funeral directors & in the states they are called preneed contracts. They are held in a trust & not by a funeral home, and are transferable to any reputable funeral home. Locks in at today's prices. We see such a difference in the stress & grief levels of families whose loved ones have this. All great tips, thank you for this important video! P.S. I like your "on location" videos, also enjoy seeing the campground where your trailer is.😊
Thanks for sharing that information Candy, glad you like us on location we love being at the trailer have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🇨🇦😎
Wise words indeed. Thanks.
Very welcome enjoy your weekend Cheers 🌺😎🍷
yes lifes decisions dont just stop when you retire always got to dot the eyes and cross the tees too your input is so useful
*thumbs up👍Au👀fully watched*
Thanks Billy glad you enjoyed the video have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🇦🇺🇨🇦😎
A very useful video as always. The only caveat I would add is recently in the UK it has been highlighted that a significant number of funeral service providers have gone into receivership and one needs ro ensure if the advance funeral plan purchases are protected and held in separate trust so that monies are not lost in the event of your funeral care providers business failing.
Yes Vince a number of UK viewers have spoken of funeral providers going out of business and leaving people high and dry, it's so sad! In Ontario our province, funeral providers who are registered providers with the province (licenced), the pre planned customer monies are insured by the provincial regulatory body, so if a business fails they pay your funeral expenses. Thanks for watching we do appreciate it.
Nice to pay for final arraignments but the planning is best part for family. Especially paying for plots and headstones make things easier.
Hi Tina & Norm some more very good advice and it’s extremely good to get out in to nature so I think you should persevere with the new type of locations it’s lovely over here as well but the traffic is all a bit mad never mind Jan and I are in the garden enjoying a glass of wine .
Take care. 🥂😊👍Christopher. Barker
Glad you like the location shots Christopher, yes we will be doing more of them while the lovely summer weather is here , have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺😎🍺
So true about passwords. Our kids may be the first generation that will have to deal with all that on a large scale. Definitely a good plan to gather all the documents your executor(s) will need in one place.
Thanks so much for watching
Hi Tina and Norm what a wonderful topic. I have a binder with everything my children will need to know when the time has come including my paid Cremation package which only cost me under $2,4 00.00 all included. Cheers! 👍👍
You are so welcome! Cheers Rosa 😎🍷🌺
Exactly what we have done. Everything is in a binder for our executor 👍
Sounds great guys have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🇨🇦😎
I can't emphasize enough the importance of a POA. I am an only child and was designated as a POA for both of my parents. My Dad passed in 2000 and my Mom in 2019. When my Mom became hospitalized and unable to communicate, having that piece of paper became the most important document in my possession. For anyone who has POA, make MULTIPLE hard copies as well as electronic, as you will need them for so many places including, medical, financial, utilities etc. Excellent video as always.
Thanks for sharing have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🌺🍷😎
I'm going to retire in couple of years and your experience, and tips were very helpful to make up my mind! 👍 🇨🇦
Thank you! 🙏 🇨🇦
We are so pleased to have helped Lex 😀😀👍🇨🇦
Hello Norm and Tina! Great subject. I have all the documents (plus a trust) mentioned by you and a place in one of the military cemetery with a head stone all totally fee. They will even give an American flag. What a deal! 😀. As far as the funeral home, I have not finalized it but I have spoken with two of them. Similar plans but one offers a down payment of 50% and the balance paid monthly. Not a bad deal. The funeral arrangements came in hand for my parents who died in the early 2000's in Michigan. My mom passed away while I was in California and my Dad passed away as I was landing in Miami from a South America trip. In both cases the funeral home took care of everything and when I got there everything was already set up for a viewing. The plots for my parents and me were bought in 1978. I gave mine 2 plots to my brother after moving to FL. As far as the vax, I had both in the summer of 2013 and thanks to your previous vlog I scheduled the shingles for next month at the Veterans Affair. They don't have the pneumonia vax yet. I was told that they should know shortly when it will be available. I owe a comment to Norm regarding supplements... Have a great weekend. All the best. Ciao 🍷🍷
Thanks for sharing Tony glad you are getting the Shingrix we did have sore arms for 2-3 days hope you have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🇨🇦😎
I certainly think that making a power of attorney is very important and am starting the process. We have seen a few family and friends getting into difficulties because a power of attorney was not made. It is also important to make sure your attorney can access the document. I heard recently of one case where the document was kept in the safety deposit box and it took the attorney two weeks to gain access
These are very real concerns, that’s why we thought it was a good subject to have a discussion and to exchange comments to help each other. Thanks for watching.
Just watched your video (sorry I'm late). Thanks for the informative video and keeping us younger seniors up to date. Glad to see you are both doing well and staying healthy! BTW, can you do a video on how to manage taxes during retirement? Any suggestions? Thank You. See you tomorrow!
Thanks Mike for the suggestion and see you tomorrow
Another great video from you two! Not sure if there's a difference in Canada from the states but down here, anyone who owns any property (a home for example) or any monies in a brokerage account really needs more than a will, they need a revocable living trust which typically also includes power of attorney and an advanced healthcare directive which will dictate how you want to be treated if you are on life support and whether or not you want to be kept alive with machines. Love your videos guys and Norm, as someone who has the same hairstyle as you, I hope you had sunscreen on!
Yes he did Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🇨🇦
Thank you so much for this video! We have put things together (passwords, account numbers etc.) in a file with out Will and also photocopied all our credit cards, front and back and added that paper reference too. All this information is in one place and in our safe. You have given us the nudge we needed to actually prepay our funeral expenses and will look in the the cremation option and get it done! Your videos are so relevant and helpful, thanks again!
That’s great Holly you seem very prepared which is awesome have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷😎🌺
Hi guys! I understand watching the ads will get you guys some well deserved funds. Is that accurate? Happy to watch ads if it helps you guys out since you help all of us for free! 💖🇨🇦🇨🇦
That's very kind Jeannie, we don't really know how the system works but thanks for being concerned, we love making the videos regardless of money.💕
Great advice! Thx
Glad it was helpful! Cheers 😎🍷🌺
YES! Medical Directives are so important. Even your children can not find out any of your health needs if they are not listed. I had a family member get in a car accident and since he had no directive the children didnt even know what hospital he was sent to.Then werent told anything of his condition or have a say in his care. HIPPA laws are very strict. Luckily had friends in healthcare to help. And the patient became conscious to tell staff. What if hadn't?
Thanks for sharing 🍷😎🌺
You are SO wise, My mother pre paid her funeral and it was a such a relief as we all were a complete mess ,when she died suddenly,,,, It is the right thing to do,, ALSO,, its very important to also make sure you have indicated that you do not want is ASSSISTED DYING ( MAID) as our health care services continue to crumble .. more and more people will be PUSHED for this,, ( I know some people are for it) BUT you need a separate legal document in Ontario,,,,, Great Advise,,, I have been told that two powers of attorneys is best ,, do you agree?
Guess you could have two POA one for health and one for financial 🤔 everybody has different needs have a great week Maryjoan Cheers 🍷🌺😎
My husband and I just went to an attorney to update our wills. You make a great point about passwords. I have been thinking about how many people do all of their banking, investments, insurance, etc online. It seems to me many families will miss out on investments that are unknown after family members pass.
We agree Daisy thanks for sharing Cheers 🌺🍷😎
Great Video! A company called Sprouted Planner recently put together "The Final Plan" it covers all of the items you have mentioned and more. I think it was about $20 for a pdf that all family members could print and use. I just looked for a link and they are doing a web update but its a really easy to use format. Anywhooooo...glad to see you are enjoying Canadian summer.
Thanks Nancy for sharing this we will check it out
Hello friends from melting Idaho in the USA! 42 degrees! Another great video and topics!
It has been extremely warm, just getting a cooler spell this weekend.
Yes, enjoyed it. Good food for thought. Would it be possible to videotape in the future on location at the top of the CN Tower, or Ontario Place, or perhaps at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), Niagara Falls, or other places of interest in Ontario. Wherever you would like to videotape about your retirement. It’s great to see you outdoor on location. Thank you for sharing all that good information.
Thanks for the suggestions great ideas have a wonderful weekend Eric Cheers 😎🍷🍺
Norm. I wanted to hear Tina share more about the weather .
It was hot!
Great video!!
Glad you enjoyed it Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🇨🇦
We also paid for our grave sites because we wanted to be near my parents. Our funeral costs are about 5,000 each
That’s good pre planning Sandra
i like your on locations video... seeing parts of Canada...
Glad you like them!
Hey Tina and Norma good to see you're out and about enjoying the summer. A quick comment..I disagree with providing your passwords since these are unique to you and intended solely for your use. If you want to provide your attorney or executor access through POA or your will, by all means provide full details (account numbers etc.) but remember they must register themselves with the bank, government dept/agency (or whomever) by providing a copy of POA or will. Having someone other than yourself sign on to your account using your logon with YOUR password is a breach of most operating agreements and, in many cases, may be illegal. I agree you should keep the account information current and with your POA and wills so your attorney or executor can apply for access and have the account holder grant access based on the legal documents that you had the foresight to create. Hope this beautiful weather continues for a few more months..looking forward to seeing you out and about Cheers H
Thanks for sharing Howard have a wonderful week Cheers 🍷🌺😎
You are just the best!!
Thanks so much Kathy have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺😎
I'm an RN and so many times we have people that had life changing illnesses or accidents and had no Power of Attorney, Medical Power of Attorney and Living Will. We would try to get the patient into a Skilled Nursing Facility but they require a Medical POA or Guardianship document. Next of Kin can not step up into those roles. Getting legal guardianship can take months if the patient is no longer having capacity for making decisions. Definitely get that in place, notarized and have multiple copies available for friends, your Doctor, family and your hospital.
That’s very interesting thanks for sharing something very important that as we older we all need to do have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🌺🍷😎
When I die, I absolutely do not care what happens with my body. But I hope I leave a lasting impression and am thought of fondly...
Hi Tina and Norm. We enjoy watching your videos and learning about what worked well for you both in retirement. I really like the plain coloured T-shirts Tina wears. Where do you buy them?
Thank you so much! Tina gets them from PC Joe Fresh around $12 each sometimes they go on sale they are 100% cotton very comfortable to wear . Have a great week Shirley and Merry Christmas 🎄☃️🎅
@@ThisIsOurRetirement thanks so much Norm.

All done, but it's great to let others know.
Sounds great Peter Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
Seems I have been some how too preoccupied with living to have taken time to consider dying. Our will is 30 years old, and so out of date as to be completely redundant. So a new will is a definite place to begin for us. Transitioning a full time business to a part time hobby , leaves some necessary road map to clean up the family business also. Simple funeral arrangements are becoming more normal and widely accepted in our community. A simple cremation followed by a celebration of life, allows everyone the opportunity to morn the passing of a loved one. And also the celebration of life can be held when family from perhaps some distance can arrange travel and can attend. Your videos keep nudging me and my wife along this road to retirement, and the off ramp is coming up fast !
We are glad you are enjoying our videos Bruce we wish you well on your journey to retirement, time does fly by it’s easy to overlook important things . Have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🌺😎
Thank you for the video! My mother passed in the late 1980s. My father paid thousands of dollars for her casket and burial ($10,000+). He bought a plan for himself when he lived in Arizona USA then he moved to Texas. We discovered that the plan was for Arizona so we had more to manage because he had moved. I appreciate that you mentioned “anywhere in Canada.” It is an important factor to be aware of. I believe he paid $2600 for his cremation plan in 2012.
I forgot to mention that my parents owned the cemetery plot, but it cost over $1,200 for the cemetery to dig a hole to place his urn into since his funeral was on a Saturday. So many costs to consider.
Thanks for sharing! wow then the price today $2600 is the same as 2012 sounds like a great deal Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🇨🇦🌺
Guess lots of additional costs might occur 🤔thanks for sharing 🌺
Hi Tina and Norm do you have the address of a transfer service operator in Montréal. I am thinking of doing same for us. Thank you
When my mom died my dad did everything, concerning the funeral, previous to her death they both had already bought their box cripts, before my dad died he & I went to the local funeral home, he picked out the cheapest casket & they drew up what's called here in the U.S. a Pre-Need , he put very little down, seems like it was $100, then he paid $50 or $100 each month till it was paid for, so when he died all I had to do was just arrange a grave side quickie, and give the Funeral home basic info for the Obituary
Sounds like your dad did a good job 👍 taking care of things Cheers 🍷😎🌺
So much homework to-dos this week guys . great advice. A will is critical, just going to update in the next couple of weeks. I have all the investments including TFSA. rrsp,non-rrsp , bank accounts with one institution BNS and leave a summary statement in the front of the will binder periodically with an image of the card and the password, to make life easier for the poa's//executors. As far as living will/poa my only caution is be very careful with "joint and severally". Had a situation with my dad's estate where some of his assets were transferred while he had Alzheimer's, and resulted in the estate being contested.
Thanks Stephen for sharing some really interesting information, in reality when parents die and even if there is a will or not it can break families up for lots of reasons .Cheers 🍷😎🌺
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Have a great weekend guys, love this channel!
Your welcome have a great weekend too 🌞
SUGGESTIONS: Go ahead and write up your OWN obituary with current living ones relationships, the funeral home can mark those who pass before you do, you can play yourself up REAL GOOD in the obit, AND, if you had lived in MORE than one location you may want to look up in advance the names & info on those towns where the Obit can be published in those locations, ALSO there is a grave documentation on line called Find-A-Grave, you may want to begin to document your relatives in that database for future genealogy etc.
Wow very interesting thanks for sharing Numa have a wonderful weekend Cheers 😎🌺🍷
Hi Tina&Norm, Nice to see you, Pretty morbid subjects but can be necessary. LPA did it years ago. Warn people for UK there is currently a 20weeks delay from the General Records Office and it looks like places such as Banks etc. only accept registered LPAs. Wills yes. But funeral plans...hmm the way costs are rising and even considering current costs your quote plans sounds suspiciously low - we paid more than that for the grave stone alone for a relative over 10 years ago.
Hi Mauro, We recently ordered certificates from the GRO online and they were sent within 4 business days. The funeral plan we talked about was a cremation with everything taken care of including a container for the ashes, it did not include a plot or headstone. We would apply to be scattered at a location of our choice. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment we appreciate it.
Ooh my gosh, I recognize the building behind you...I was there 2 days ago. Small world eh?
Yes indeed it is thanks for watching have a great weekend Cheers 🍁🙂🍻
Just an idea for a video:
Best places in Canada to retire. Where can one get the best value and enjoy life?
Power of attorney and DNR (Do not resuscitate) are crucial. I’m a Firefighter, we rarely come them during a cardiac arrest
Thanks for your service as a fire fighter you are the hero’s, the best value in Canada seems to be in the East. Thanks for watching.
Agree of medical poa and I have one so I'm not on life support.
It feels the right thing to do Suzanne
Dear Tina and Norm, have you secured accommodations yet in Portugal for next season. Thank you.
No not yet Mike
Very informative and sensitive subjects indeed. There are so many things one needs to address as time goes by. Actually, they are relevant no matter what age. My husband lost his first wife at 45 years of age. Totally unprepared. So it is a topic that is ageless I suppose. We too need to address a couple of issues as my children live Down Under and none speak the Dutch language. When next visiting I will be addressing a number of issues related to my eventual demise. 💖 🙏 Despite you finding it harder to find nice spots, I've enjoyed visiting at the trailer park. Pleased to hear the vaccination went well and the discomfort was short lived. Glad your visit there is going well. Our heat wave from last week has thankfully tempered down to more sustainable temperatures. Have a great week - while still at the park? 😎 👋 🇳🇿 🙋♀ 🇳🇱
We admit some of our recent subjects are not fun but as you say necessary, we are trying to remind people and ourselves of some things that are often overlooked. It's interesting about your children and not speaking Dutch, maybe translations of some documents can be done for them? We enjoy our time at the trailer, we tend to avoid weekends as they can be busy, this weekend is a bank holiday so extra busy so we are at home. We did avois going to the trailer in a recent heatwave as the temps soared to high 30's. Have a lovely Sunday 🇨🇦🇳🇱🥂
@@ThisIsOurRetirement quite right about avoid peak holiday moments for the working population. We do too. That’s why we made our French Road Tour pre- school holidays. We don’t go out for dinner either Fri-Sat-Sundays. Same reason. Translating papers to English is a good idea- I’ve started a few in both languages. Our heatwave has subsided thankfully though still swinging between 23-27 most days. Enjoy wherever you are. See you again soon. 👍😎🇳🇱🙋♀️🇳🇿
I LOVE your channel. I am relatively new but I think I have watched ALL of your videos. I am just turning 64 next month. I would love to see a video for retirees who thought they had enough money for retirement and through circumstances I may end up without any funds in a year or two. Do you have any ideas for retirement with very limited funds? Love you guys!
Thanks for your support Bob we do appreciate it. Thanks for the suggestion we will see if we can do something with it.
@@ThisIsOurRetirement By the way guys I am moderately handicapped as well. I guess I won’t be getting ready for any big trips but just not worrying about funds would be a major blessing.
