The fergie tractor will always be the best tractor ever made . The 65 is a beast of a machine an will outlast by decades all your others includin the newish fergie you got . Great buy
On our farm we have a gas engine MF 65 from the early 60's. It has a multi power shift and a posi lock rear.It also has a belly mower that I use to mow our driveway road banks. For years I used this tractor to pull heavy grain wagons home from the fields and it had plenty of power. This old tractor of yours is a gem, I hope you get her going again.
Good to see ya getting that old girl in your shop. There is some old soul in these machines, all the sweat, plowing, hopes, dreams, broken but not put down, it's part of our history, worth a rebuild. Fix er up!
I'm currently restoring my wife's great grandfather's 1958 massey ferguson 65. I love the tractor and will pass it down to my son when he gets older. Excited to watch your restoration project. Keep up the great work Josh
Nice old girl you got ! I have a 1956 Massey Harris Ferguson MH50. First year for power steering .Gave her a quick restoration about 8 years ago,now she's all torn down and is getting the full monty....she'll be done in the spring.....also has the 202 industrial loader on it.
Love old tractors... Great project! You might consider putting the chocks on it before you wake up and find it rolled all the way down into your new pond!!! haha
you asked if you got a good deal, the beauty of it alone is worth the $1000 can't wait to see the repairs and hopefully restoration of that magnificent darling.
very cool tractor! bought a 1952 to30 ferguson this past spring. finally finished my 12 volt conversion. just need a brush cutter now and i'll be ready to start some cleaning up on my 36 acres.
WOOOOOOOO love some vintage tractor restos! Im sure that thing will run like it was yesterday! One tip BEFORE you do anything is get some oil in the cylinders via spark plug holes. Either mystery oil/transmission fluid! Let it sit a few days before you mess with it. That will allow the pistons/rings to help loosen up and properly come back. Dont just slap a battery in it and crank it over, Im no expert but I bought, fixed, and sold over 50 motorcycles over a 4 year period and when I was running my shop and all the non runners that came in all old, neglected, and abandoned I did this before and NEVER had an issue internally. Hope that makes sense! Take care!
Hi Josh seeing your old tractor brought back so many memories i learnt to drive on one of them when i was 11 years old on a farm in Kent England. The very best of luck getting it going again . Tim (London England )
Honestly, I would live to see you and Wesley do a mini series on the rebuild. Would you consider asking him to do such a thing. I'm only saying maybe a 4 or 5 part mini series. That would be incredible!👍
Love the old tobacco barns. We're getting dangerously close to not having any of those old stick barns left here in NC. All of the ones within five miles of my place are gone and the ones still left farther out are getting to be pretty fragile.
I can just see you with that tractor cherried up, pulling a float down main street. They deserve fixing up to remind us how important such machines were, feeding Americans, strong and proud.
Yeah Josh ya got a good deal on that tractor. I think that it will become a good riding tractor and will be a great work horse for the Stoney Ridge farm.
Hi Josh, Bought a MF 135 yesterday, delivery Tuesday. Three cylinder Perkins diesel. Been looking for years, can't believe I actually found one and only 30 minutes from the farm. In West Wales we tend to be too far from everywhere so really lucky. Looking forward to watching your videos of the 65 as much in common with ours, now christened Meg. Prices over here way higher than U.S. Was also offered a choice of 2 x 65's , 1 x 35 or TE 20, all over $3500 each. Love the channel. Lloyd.
This is how the local tow service used to get the wrecks off his flatbed. (Ones that were going off for scrap, not the customers one that were going for repair.) Drop the chains; tllt the bed, hook her into reverse. Give her a shoefull and hit the brakes. They all come off. I'm a mechanic out here in NZ. We have those old things out here. I've worked on them years ago. They are reliable. We set one on fire . It hadn't been run for a few years and it had a birds nest on top of the motor. A guy had just bought it with a bad clutch and we had to get it going and check it over for him before we split it to do the clutch if it ran ok. I put a battery and some gas and it fired up. I left it running for a few minutes while i dragged the airline outside to pump up the tyres and a drain bucket. When i came outside the nest had fallen off the top of the motor and hooked itself onto the exhaust manifold and was blazing away merrily.. Luckily it only scorched the paint a little before i got it out with the air gun on the airline. I polished most of the scorched mark out. then it was more noticeable so i had to polish the whole hood. The things we do when we are apprentices
Hey! This is great, not a massey guy, but that is one cool old tractor. Good buy and good automatic fix. Please post more videos as soon as you can. Thanks Stoney ridge farmer.
Great tractor, power wash the crap off, get rid of the cherry bomb, change oil and clean the air filter, grease it, clean the points and fire her up. great stuff, Mrs stoney ridge will fall in love with it.
I have a MF 135 from the early 70’s. I have keep her going, but I am not mechanically inclined, so it has cost me a bit to keep up. I need a good used or new carburetor right now. I hope to watch you get yours going. They are good tractors. I need a new seat, too. Good find!
The Massey Ferguson 65 Tractor has a category 1 three point hitch and a claimed pto of 41 hp. She should pull 3-14” bottoms. We pulled 4-14’s with our super 65 diesel high arch! You’ll have fun with it!
18F this morning on the Modern Mountain Cabin build in Creede, CO. I just picked up an ALLIS CHALMERS 4wd with bucket for $900 that didn't run for years till I bought it, clutch and Right Rear was stuck too. Took the brake cover off and smacked it, all good. Drove it on the trailer and the seller thought I was McGuiver. Shoot yeah I'd buy that 41 hp @PTO that thing is my age. WHOOO!
They were quite a little tractor in there day .. an can be still very handy to have around the farm in today’s days too. do lots little jobs .. it looks like it has good potential to be brought back to life Josh !! Look forward to seeing how the project goes 👍
My stepdad loved Massey yes we had a old one and Massey Ferguson. All were workhorses he restored with original paint and decals. The one you got should restore well and give years of service. Have fun
I have an old ford that was converted to 12 volts but only part way. The coil I think is 6 and the points really melt down with the bad switch. We finally gave up on it (not ours) and bought a Deer. Might grab an option off the old one - measured and it looks like it will fit! Cool. Good luck - thus far you have had it with the wheel.
Wow, you have a really nice place there! Good old 'Fergy 65' - I remember when they were the latest thing on the farm, only, over here in the UK they were almost exclusively diesel powered (Perkins; 4-154, I think) and would have been around the 45 to 50 bhp mark. I shall watch this series with interest!
Greetings from the Great White North, North Pole, Alaska! We would gladly exchange some of your heat with some of our cold. It's Oct.6, 2019, and +33°f outside with 3 brand new inches of Snow!! It will get down to the low +20s tonight, and a high tomorrow of a whole +38°f., and more snow.
I have a Ford 1957 850 that I been working on. The best thing ai did was getting the manuals. Including parts and service. Take your time, check the books then go at it. You will have some fun working on it. BUT do not forget you also have a jeep too finish. LOL boys and there toys. LOL.
Hi guy, that's a gift of a tractor, can be restored to new ,i thought it was a diesel tractor,i think you are a fun excited guy ,i love you hubby,ìts mine too, good luck.
I have a 1959 Massey 65 deisel high clearance. I grew up on that tractor. My grandfather had the gas 65. Not sure what year it was. They are great machines and even better memories.
1st off, Great find for you! Glad rear brake let loose. New tires on front makes it steer like a new one!!! Don't overweight the 3 point, might overturn! If motor is stuck, pull plugs, insert diesel fuel or spray Knocker Loose in each piston, let sit 2-3 days, spray again, put in 2nd gear and rock rear wheels! Should break loose, only 2 years of sitting! If not, tear into it, top down! Good luck Farm Buddy!
Sorry to hear about the heat. It’s only in the 50’s here in Lancaster county pa.
Love the tractor 🚜
Thanks...I think it's one of the coolest looking Massey Fergusons made

@@brianmiller4282 Are you a fellow New Jerseyian??? (from NJ)

The fergie tractor will always be the best tractor ever made . The 65 is a beast of a machine an will outlast by decades all your others includin the newish fergie you got . Great buy
Definitely worth a restoration. It has one of the finest three point lifts ever produced.
this video makes me smile, i grew up on a massey 65. they hold a special place in my heart. I would love to see if fully restored

My dad had a Massey like that. I use to wire blocks to the pedals at age 6 and disc the 10 acre parcel we had.
Good times. Good tractors. WooO!

Good deal! Restoring classic machinery is always a labor of love.
I'm 63 now but when I was a young growing up on our farm I learned how to drive on a tractor this size. Oh what fun I had.

That old tractor has a lot of potential , for a 1000 dollars you got a heck of a deal looking forward to seeing her run soon.

Put an ounce
Or 2 of transmission Fluid in the cylinders and turn it over by hand before you fire it up. It’s a runner!!
Love it, if the block is not cracked there is a lot of life left in the old girl. You can have a lot of fun playing in the dirt with it .
My dad had a 65 on our farm in South Africa. As a child, I used to drive it a lot.
It good to see the hood hinges working nearly all the ones I had them broken
Good to see the tractor fixed itself. I’m looking forward to seeing it get fixed.
Nice tractor! I hope to see more of that one soon! Thanks for sharing!
You got yourself a good deal on the tractor love to see it run
I can just see you with that tractor cherried up, pulling a float down main street. They deserve fixing up to remind us how important such machines were, feeding Americans, strong and proud.
