- Опубликовано: 19 июн 2014
- This video scribe where Prof. Handke outlines the main structure of sentences with initial complementizers, now referred to as CP, is supplementary to the e-lecture "More on Constituents II" where the principles of organizing the sentential constituents according to the X-bar Syntax scheme are discussed and exemplified.
This just saved my exam, thank you so much.
Thank you very very much. I am now a tree drawing champion from your lessons. I have been practicing dozens and dozens and I am very good. Please put up more.
Thank you soooooo much for making me understand in two days something i couldnt understand from my professor in 13 weeks
as always. Perfect. Sie sind der besser Professor.
Particularly how to draw questions and other than sentences
This does not work for many languages of the World. In fact, this limitation is the reason for RRG. The positions in many languages are not adjacent and Chomsky (why are you using an old version and not Minimalist, BTW?) cannot handle the crossing of lines. I would like to see this applied to Dyrbil or Pirahã as it won't work. Linguists try to develop analytic tools for any languages but I see a lack of that usage here--and I would like to know why?
As I said in "More on Constituents II" from 10:13 onw. problematic cases will be dealt with in further E-Lectures, i.e. "More on Constituents III" and in the respective Video Scribes.
The Virtual Linguistics Campus That means that Dyrbil or Pirahã will be covered?
I will try to cover as many phenomena as possible but since I need the basics for our VLC classes first it doesn't make sense, at this point, to deal, for example, with classifiers in Vietnamese.
The Virtual Linguistics Campus . I'm very interested in seeing you try to solve problems that Everett couldn't following a Chomskian model
As I said elsewhere. The videos are predominantely not produced to solve the latest problems in syntax, rather, their goal is introduce students to the central topics in linguistics in gentle and hopefully didactically well-defined format. Once we have reached a certain depth - take phonetic transcription as an example - we can look at specific aspects. But the videos produced for such cases are less attractive for the thousands of subscribers to this channel.
If you want to solve specific, e.g. syntactic problems, I recommend to join social network groups --- this is at least what I do. There you can talk about the DP in Chinese, Vietmamese, flat structures, or the BooleanP, if you wish. For a video that attracts thousands of viewers this would be too specific.
