He let him win. If your blocking, you enter the corner hugging the inside. Hamlin took it wide as if he was the only car on the track. International 100 percent.
hamlin was fighting a wheel hopping issue.
he also locked the front right tire up which caused the car to push. He was driving from his mirror expecting to get punted going into the corner and over drove it. so knock it off with the conspiracy theories.

I have noticed how for the past 2 years and also this year that all the road courses have all had exciting finishes between drivers.

I've always wondered how Tony Stewart would do if he did a road racing series full time. He has pretty consitent wins on road courses.

Marcos doesn't do V8 Supercars anymore but that would be cool for tony to try that at least
thegreatcarraway Tony did some road course racing back in his Indy Car days. I know some people will say there weren't many road course races way back when Tony raced but there were times when he even did some little things in F1.

At the last corner.. he tried taking it like a nascar corner.. You can't do that faster when the car isn't engineered for left side turning only..
Plus I think he learned a thing or 2 from Lewis Hamilton when they were exchanging cars at Watkins Glen during an event, youtube. They prob contacted Lewis and his team for advice and damn did it work.

I bought Tony's diecast of this race. I watched this live on TV, reliving my childhood watching Stewart body slam a fool then win the race... so much win.

As a Smoke and Denny fan the end of this race drove me nuts. But truthfully, once Denny move Smoke, everyone’s radio, that is exactly why Denny lost the race. He knew if Smoke could get to his bumper he would, rightfully so. So in turn he drove it in too deep trying to prevent it. If Denny had drove it in deep but not too deep he would have had it, but he was thinking too much.

This was probably the best race out of the last 5 years
Aside from the ending, the race was pretty average by current standards. I'd hardly call this a really good race.

Even if Tony does terrible in the chase that's alright, maybe he can win one more race so he has 50 career victories!. My first nascar race I ever watched was when he won at this track and I've been a fan ever since. So even if he doesn't win one more race, it's still awesome that I saw him win first time and last time on one track.
Denny didn't have to be mirror driving that last corner. But Tony would've bulldozed him anyway.
Put it this way. He was not going to win.
Hamlin admitted as much at the end there. Even his crew chief calling it "half dirty, half racing" is pretty much an admission that Hamlin screwed up.

Smoke got lucky as all hell that he got the yellow and that Hamlin totally screwed up turn 11. Still, congrats to him. Not bad to get in the Chase his final year.

Hamlin felt bad about dive bombing his old teammate in his last season, so he basically lets him by the last corner.. So hard to believe the 11 tried his best that last lap... Way too obvious looked like my grandmother driving the 11

Dang it! Those final laps were so stressful!!! If Denny comes into turn 11 on the inside line he would've won that race. He came in WAY too high which gave Tony the pass on the inside. Oh well, Denny will get that win at Daytona next week 😏

+Dylan Negron umm it wasnt just a comeback... Denny lead almost the entire 500. Also he has had top sixes in his last five races at Daytona. He has been very good at restrictor plate races the past few years. So expect a strong performance from him, and I believe he can win it.
