Bill Oddie on Keeping Bird feeding simple with Haith's

- "Keep it simple!" says Bill Oddie. Feeding the birds shouldn't be complicated; offer high quality, clean and nutritional bird foods and seeds and you can't go too far wrong. What's adding to the confusion is species specific foods; they're just not necessary. One or two good bird foods will do the trick and if you add mealworms and suet, too, you'll cater for just about any wild bird that would visit your garden in search of food.

Loved bill oddie on spring watch, a great knowledge on birds wildlife etc, BBC BRING BACK BILL ODDIE , HES GREATLY MISSED AND LOVED
i used to look after bills mum back in the 80s in a nursing home in hove , lovely little old lady xxx
Got to be honest I prefer Bill doing wildlife programs more than comedy ie Goodies. Very informed and easy to listen to
Yay bring him back to the wildlife
bills a nice human being not that many these days
Sadly today too many companies have jumped on the bandwagon of supplying seed for our garden friends.
Hence the prices have increased so much so that it inhibits many from feeding our feathered friends. I had to stop buying birdseed a while back as the prices kept increasing year on year. A bag of wild bird seed only a few years back would cost me just over £10, now the same bag is £25. I just can't afford it anymore. 👿
love feeding the birds thank you for the ideas
I WANT TO FEED ROBINS ........ SO I NEED A BIRD TABLE ? I LIVE 6 KM FROM MY GARDEN SO DONT KNOW IF THE FOOD GETS WET OR RUNS OUT , SO I THOUGHT JUST BUY 3 SUNFLOWER FEEDS AND ONE FOR PEANUTS AND MAKE MY OWN SUET AND JUST NEED FOOD FOR THE ROBINS ......... LOVE ROBINS !!!!
I keep my feeders spotless and feed: Basic seed, Suet pellets, sunflower husks, peanuts, dried mealworms and occasionally hang up an apple.
Boring. I buy hundreds of dollars worth of food every month, because I'm told to do it by the bird feed companies.
Great advice, Bill. I'm trying to discourage the pigeons feeding on what the smaller birds discard, but feel a tad guilty as they need to eat too.
Hi, I love the pigeons. However I have to discourage the carrion crows as they seem to be causing the wood pigeons to fly into the windows. This is a pity since our crows are black with symmetrical white markings on their wings (and sometimes the tails in a nearby park.)
Hi Jim, pigeons can be a problem for some people, but you're right they need to feed to. Our Ground Feeding Haven could be of help to you if you are still having problems www.haiths.com/ground-feeding-haven/
I love the pigeons my favourite bird!
I throw seeds on the ground every day to keep them out of the feeder.
I love this video Bill.🥰
I totally agree with you.
I love feeding and watching the birds , my problem is the pigeons they tighten the others away , I can't get rid of them
My problems are starlings I HATE THEM! Doves are a pain too but not as much as starlings are.
Be Mindful Where you get Seeds. Seeds in America are Rancid from the Grocery Store • Make Sure You give them Non Ran id Seeds. It will Kill it if the Birds. Cut their lives very Short. Thank You. I feed my own pet Bird. We are not allowed to put seeds out where I live now. Hummingbirds. You who have other places off the Land at an apt. You can feed them. We have guidelines . Happy Birding !!
A lot of Birds like Dampened porridge . especially when feeding there young.and any other time of the year.
But don,t give them Cooked as it will stick there feathers etc like super glue.
i miss seeing bill on telly.
Please help me advice to hand feed birds in my garden? Will be much appreciated my friend
Tried all sorts of bird feeders, none to date have deterred Starlings from descending in large numbers and cleaning out the feeders in minutes. Of course smaller birds don't have a chance.
Get a upside-down suit feeder they can't eat from these!
Trust me they can it might not be fun for them but I have them on video. And my woodpeckers seem to like the standing ones more.
If you make any more youtube videos please jack up the volume !!
Your videos are extremely hard to hear on my old laptop and I suspect that
has a very negative effect on the number of views and comments.
I had to add them to a playlist to watch later by casting my laptop
to my TV which has much better speakers.
But I wonder how many people would be willing to do that.

Welcome to my garden I have some birds too
Good advice, but here is a question. Why is it, in recent years, our birds seem to have lost their taste for peanuts? Though the tits still eat the fatballs! Yet a few blocks away, my parents birds were tucking into peanutswith no problem....including GS Woodpeckers.
This evening a friend said her birds in the next village refused to eat peanuts. Yet again, the birds in a car-park in a nearby forest do! This is doing my head in! Any ideas!!
Hi Sue, this can often be down to a varied choice of foods. Sunflower Hearts seem to be very popular with birds now :)
Feeders last cleaned April 1st 1973.
feed the bird like bird woman from home alone movie
Great to hear Ms Smith :)
Good job feeding all the birds. Please please clean your feeders, they will carry diseases to the birds that will kill them! Also bird bath must be clean every day and all green washed off as can cause respiratory diseases. 🦉🦔
I thought i heard winnie the pooh.
Anyhow thanks for the video 👍
You're welcome, thank you
Lol cool
Looks like mold and filth in that grey feeder.
I respect the man, I agree with what he's saying but for gawd sake man....clean yr feeders!!!
Though the same thing. need cleaned badly.
My dog keeps eating those fat blocks and it's pretty funny.
Hi Joel, just keep your dog away from raisins/sultanas as they can be dangerous if consumed. Nice to hear from you, though.
Joel Connors could
Get pancreatitis from too much fat so would be careful about him eating that.Happened to to my friends dog.
Clean them feeders
Yes, clean them feeders. So that a species that eats worms, flies and maggots won't get bad breath.
I think he needs to clean his feeders ahah
My god man, please give those feeders a good clean. Could be spreading disease.
Brittney Hernandez because in nature, there are cleaner fairies keeping everything clean ;)
tauresa ttauresa In nature, birds don't feed at the same place all the time, which is why we have to clean feeders.
tauresa ttauresa , any responsible bird enthusiast, and national bird society, will tell you how important it is to keep your feeders clean. That's how disease and illness spread otherwise.
Hi Brittney, we totally agree with you bird feeders should be cleaned regularly. We will contact Bill and send him some new feeders. Thanks for caring about the birds.
Brittney Hernandez yeah after all what does Bill know about wild life......................

I put one of these bird feeders in my garden so it makes it easier to shoot em, I bag close to 15-20 birds a day usually crows, magpies and pigeons.... also any little birds that fall victim to my trap haha
