  • We were setting up to record another #AskBillOddie session with Bill Oddie when his mealworm order arrived by Royal Mail. There's no way the Robin was prepared to wait until after we'd filmed so we recorded Bill opening the box to see how long it would take for his Robin to turn up... How long do you think it will take...

    Mealworms are very easy and interesting to breed. I started a farm this year to keep my garden birds - particularly the robin - hanging around.

    This was such a treat to watch this video...thank you so much. I've always been afraid to use live food but now I want to get some and make feeders like yours. I'd rather spend my money on proper food for the birds and try to make feeders as economically as I can.

    Get yeself some maggots for the bird table Oddie, birds love them.... especially the black birds there eyes are bigger than the bellies once they see the little guys wriggling around, an the robins

    Superb idea Oddie lad.... ive seen the sparrow halk fly down in a wooooosh.... and perform a magic trick with the sparrows now ye see them now ye dont....

    awwww little robin so close , i have a robin who comes into my garden so after watching these videos , i bought a bird feeding staion and feeders and put out meal worms and suet blocks etc and water only problem is the squirell eats most of the food but i dont mind , they need feeding 2

    Bill,would you recommend a good .22 air rifle to dispatch these grey squirrels, they are an absolute bloody MENACE round my feeders ,and ive seen them on several occasions taking the young nestling from my Hawthorne hedge .
