That's what I loved about heavy haul and flatdeck work.. I was appreciated when I delivered their stuff or asset to them..
bet you didn’t love tarping the flatbed loads though!
@@kimmorrison9169 really didn't mind it...most the time. Gets fun at -25 below with a healthy breeze and it snowing sideways but thats watcha sign up fer!!
LOL Reminds me of the old joke, Yer from Jersey? What Exit?
63 😆
Steve, Orwell is a great looking truck. It shows it's age well. Paint is a little faded , that show a hard working truck! Like u👍😄
I just found out that IFM investors from Australia owns the indiana toll road. State of indiana sold the toll road to IFM.
Macquarie Atlas Roads and MIG (both Austrailian) own the Dulles Greenway toll road in Northern Virginia
Little off subject. But did you know the parking lot at Mt. Rushmore is privately owned?
When Vince Lombardi was a hell hole, I do remember State Police chalkin trailer tires, some drivers livin across the GW in the Bronx. Anything after 34 truck towed$$
Would be nice if you get to see your Mom since you're so close. Hey Nick great job behind the camera!!
nice shots of breaking down the trailer for loading.......good cameraman
Damit Hero, I guess I got to wait to watch you load the big truck. That's alright. You ain't showed a bad one yet and they seem to be getting better every time. I bet this has been the best summer vacation ever for Nick. I road with some of my Dads drivers when I was a lad and I loved it. Great hanging out with you guys. Later
Tight places are why I like COE's. Been to shippers and customers with COE and the guys with HOODS had a REALLLLY hard time getting in and out. A few times when I was done ( if I had time too) I dropped my trailer and put theirs in for them.
And insane stretched chassis .. Cannot understand why '' It's almost fashion over there?
@@pagey007 I agree, Some oth those stretches are ridiculous. I always thought the long wheel based Gabor COE Petes was to long for COE's.
@@richardmiseljr2413 Private drive ,, 54.5 ton .. The truck alone is shorter than some "tractor units" in the US ,, Simply would not work over here ..ruclips.net/video/8QuzgbMsZsw/видео.html
@@pagey007 A lot of the roads in Europe are not built for modern rigs. Even here in the states most roads are not built for modern rigs they was built for the trucks and trailers of the 1940's and 1950's / '60's. To add to the fun several of the power units I drove had manual ( armstrong )steering.
@@richardmiseljr2413 "Armstrong steering "...😂😂😂😂!!!!
Man Steve, you behind the wheel of Orwell makes maneuvering that trailer in not so ideal spaces look EASY! 👍🏼
I love the camera footage from the rear end of the trailer. It's a unique vantage point.
You can buy those trucks off GovPlanet for a few thousand. Even the larger models. They easily resell for $50,000 plus.
Hope we get to see the loading in a future episode. Bet the PW folks got it for "free" from a Federal surplus program. Had great plans for it ... until they figured out the real cost of the "free" truck.
I love what you do in helping our military since they too have a job and that job is to protect our freedom. I know that many times, you have to drive the big beasts to the airport to have them loaded onto cargo planes. And it's one reason why I subscribed to you! The National Museum of Transport has a regular show called Pistons and Pumpers and they hold it each year. You are more than welcome to come and teach the museum's ticket holders how loading and unloading heavy equipment is done.
That HET truck replaced the old Studebaker/ White cabovers that pulled the " Dragon Wagons " ,that hauled the M-60 main battle tank of the late 60's to the middle 80's.
I never drove them, but we had two in our unit in Germany back in the early 80's, before the M-1 Abrams were introduced to the 2AD.
Excellent shots of the trailer breakdown, good work Nick!
Looks like that yard has those old LMTVs running as contractor plow trucks for NJDOT. Pretty neat. My yard has a bunch of tri-axles, wreckers and dump trucks as plow contractors.
Ill just comment on how I love how you have those chains going across the empty trailer. it makes me happy
Your right Steve, it's all about the rig.
I have a great respect for drivers with specialty loads oversized, hazmat etc. You work harder and more hands on and I can't recall one wearing flip flops. In other words doing your job and doing it right. After hearing that old Detroit fire up I guess I need to get off my ass and get my old ranch truck running this weekend. 68 ford with a 318 8/71 straight pipes
Your 100 % right about van hauling , nothing worse than grocery warehouses and their lumbers . I’ll stick to flatbeds and dropdecks , no more door slammers for me ! Noticed the steel wheels on your drives, something you almost never see out here on the left coast. Take Care and thanks for the effort you put into these videos.
Steve folks follow you because your relatable & funny ALSO and because some of your followers love to see you repair things in your shop.Your non truck drivers followers get to find out about cabover motors ALSO.
Can’t wait to see what it looks like loaded rolling down the road. 😎👍🏻💯
Man you brought back a lot of memories, I retired from UPS outta Seacaucus N.J., did quite a few pick ups on rte. 22. I drove the big trucks (feeder) love your videos. Stay safe out there.
Steve, I'm watching your videos in order and still catching up. I'll be honest, Orwell was what first drew me to the channel and I keep coming back for more! You're a cool dude and I enjoy your videos as it feels like we're hanging out, and maybe some time you'll get down south to Arkansas or I'll see you out on the road and can shake your hand and have some Popeye's with you. Keep up the good work brother!!
We has 6 of these Pete 362s in our fleet back in the mid 1980s 5 were 1984s with 3406 350hp Cat engines and 1 1985 with a NTC 350 formula Cummins all were 9 speed trannys.
The HETT, Heavy Equipment Tank Transport.. the truck itself is a Beast.. the trailer was to, but many of them burnt to the ground because of the breaking system
Thats what she said.
thought the same thing myself!
Hi Steve I'm happy when I see you and Orwell you haven't had anymore problems with her since you fixed her
The driving is the easy part, here’s where your professionalism comes in for those tight spots. Good thing Orwell doesn’t have a long wheelbase.
NJ / NYC I can see the smell ! grew up 20 yrs LI , Don't miss it one bit
I went to C&S in Westfield Ma once a week from 2010 to 2012 and I thought they treated you well and a big holding lot were you could stay as long as you wanted and Santorini pizzaria out on 202 with good food and plenty of parking.A rare food house delivery plus good food what more could you ask🤗
Good camera angles! Time to dig out the rattle cans and paint the rims on the drivers😆.
Id have painted them all 1 color a long time ago...
Hi Steve, these trucks are sort of a regular sight on U.K. roads . Hauling British Army tanks. So out of scale on our roads. Some sight
Oshkosh M1070! That’s an awesome truck you picked up
Vince Lombardi used to be nasty. Hopefully it's better now!
at first, I thought you were just some loud crude new-yourk yank. but, i like your no nonsense attitude and the multi video angles are good.
You should put a caption pop up whenever you go through these toll booths I think people will be blown away by how much trucks have to pay
I don't know anything about long-haul trucking; I hope you folks don't mind some questions. On the trip to Cape Cod with the oversize load, lots of permitting was necessary, including designation of the route to take through the state. Who obtains those permits -- the shipper or the trucker? How long does it take to get the permits? Does the state charge for permits? Who pays the charge?
Thanks for any information.
Man yur the best trucker bro...i got to get me one of those shirt and support u buddy. Thanks for the great video!👍👍
By upgrading I meant doing work to the cab over not getting another truck, I love cab overs when I was a kiddo my Dad was a truck driver and my best memories were in his cab over. Eric Houser.
The lumper deal in the US need to stop. Sound like a rip off, to some one living in Sweden. If anything it ought to be out of the terminal's pocket. Of course here hand-bombing the goods are the norm, but you never have to pay anyone to have your freight unloaded here afaik.
The other half of lumpers is once they off load the truck at your expense they stage the goods in the grocery’s warehouse. I don’t know how this got started but it a great racket for the warehouse.
Hit it on the nose with watching because of the truck and not me the troll under the bridge was to hilarious…but truthfully am just glad to the cab over still running
I’ve never seen Vince Lombardi so empty of course I’ve been by it alot but haven’t been in it since 76 when it still had a restaurant inside
You make it look so easy
I love your truck i, m a big fan of peterbilt...have a nice day..
Orwell makes such righteous music!
Thank God it started right up
Even though it's a busy working truck, you think you'd ever polish or refurbish the truck up a bit? I see you've got that mean looking chrome bumper and would love to see maybe a visor and a whole tidy-up kinda deal
Nice load.
Wow now this is a real test for Orwell carrying a real monster truck !!
Orwell should be on the trailer 😉
saw truck #673 today on I-41 I see they found a driver for it
I -41 not familiar with that interstate where's that
Drove truck cross country for 15 years
@@brianbower2845 it used to be us41. Switched to an interstate a few years ago. Runs from Green Bay wi to Illinois border on i94
Yup bro
We need to start a gofundme for Steve to get some wheels on the rear of Orwell
That's a sweet motorcycle!
Dang! That's a BIG truck.
Goddamn this vid got some beasty resolution, nice to hear your close to home, been to union many o time
I seen you two times on the road nice old Pete
While I admire you, I see nothing that makes me regret the carrier path I took after my Father strongly hinted that truck driving was not for me. (He used to manoeuvre 72 x 14 foot mobiles homes with the same ease you do with Orwell.)
CAT POWER 💪🏾🔥💨
Great I've never been more miles please
I know you do grease your 5th wheel but as often as you hook and un hook how often do you grease it
Sitting under an overpass….that sweet sound…just like…hmmm…white noise? And no, that wasn’t a racist remark anyone! Good way to start the episode though. That Oshkosh was a beast of a truck. Hope you get to drive it. I haven’t thought about lumbers for some time. I’ve never encountered that and I think it’s ridiculous. But it goes back a long ways in the trucking industry though. Looking forward to seeing the rest of this trip. Hey, in a recent episode, you mentioned about moving your shop/business. Have you ever considered Ohio?
Heck, how often does the trailer bottom out.
Was that a "Thomas Transport" stalking you at the Truck stop???...
Talk about a tight place to get into I don’t think a conventional could have turned around like Orwell
Dam steve I wanted to see that animal loaded on your trailer..oh well.still a good video..thanks for sharing.......a fan in Oregon...
It's ok, I've got a firefighter shirt too and I'm not a firefighter either, just a supporter of firefighters, EMS, and law enforcement.
I’m curious, how much do people that get contracts to haul FedEx ground trailers make? On average
I gotta ask how do u stay cool when it's hot when ur sleeping? Lucky my KW has ac. Both in the cab and the sleeper. And it keep's both me and my wife cool during the summer and warm during the winter. Spring and Fall we drive with the windows down and vents open.
That’s the truck you need for heavy hauling. 😉😉
That would be awesome cruising down the road in something like that
How is the rebuilt transmission doing for you?
I kept looking at those utility lines over loading area.
reads title: *giggles* TWSS...
Where is the rest of this load delivery?
Are you going to upgrade that beautiful cab over? Your friend from Larned Ks Eric Houser, p.s. keep the good content coming brother.
It was tight for orwel then they imagine with conventionals 😬
What's up Steve..... Would you buy a new RGN trailer or a 53 Stepdeck if you were in the market for a trailer. Thanks
I use to run rt 22 on a regular basis when I lived in Jersey
Lumpers should be illegal! Charge me to unload your freight? I should charge ups next time they deliver me a package. And if it's a lumper I know for sure it'll be 3-5 hours to unload. I told them to pay me and I'll do it but they won't... I'd have it done in half that time!
I think you found your new truck in that narrow yard. Sell Orwell and get 1 of those. :)
Where's your Lollipop because I got to admit you do look like Kojack 😂😁 be safe
Loading it video??
Why not show the loading it does not make any sense to end it there ?
Yea that was bizarre
Looks like a "SHADY" place. Do you need to verify VIN to make sure you don't get into anything shady yourself??? Just a thought. Keep up the good content and see you on the next one.
Pulled a reefer for two years...that was enough for me lol
Rgn most customers were happy to see me, some saw me as a waste of their time, there is an occasional idiot, hauled a few big tanks, ten wides military move, no permits run day and night, all police were told to leave us alone, tanks had to be painted desert sand for the first gulf War, pull toy here 😄
Karen said hello !!
Did i understand that correct? A driver delivers stuff to a company and then has to pay that company so they unload the stuff that they ordered? Thats a ripoff and should be banned.
Looks like a military HETT
Hilarious title
Steve I wouldn't say you look like a troll at all.
Maybe more of an ogre version of Vin Diesel but definitely not a troll.
What is your MPG ??? Two 4x8 sheets of plywood going down the road!! 🙊🙊🙈🙈🙉🙉🐵🐵😻😻😻👍🏽👍🏽
Brings back the days and nights of running NJ NY. LOCAL107 PHILLY TRUMP2024
Anybody else see the"Tight Spot for...Huge Load" and think great porno title?
I just love the name: Oshkosh. It was probably a native American word, what they yelled after they accidently hit their thumb with a tomahawk.
That's what she said
