Imagine a situation when you are usually able to log in to your Windows 11/10 system with cached credentials and get the following error:
We can’t sign you with this credential because your domain isn’t available. Make sure your device is connected to your organization’s network and try again. If you previously signed in on this device with another credential, you can sign in with that credential.
If nothing works, then to resolve the We can’t sign you with this credential because your domain isn’t available issue, you could proceed to the following troubleshooting:
1. Remove the user from the protected user’s group
2. Verify the DNS settings
3. Using Security Policy snap-in

I'm stuck with this exact problem. But because I can't even get past the screen lock page ("domain isn't available"), I can't get to the search bar. I'm effectively kicked out of my own laptop. 😢

You assume that everyone has administrator privileges. This happens when you pull a workstation from the domain and try to use the same computer without a domain controller. You will not be able to log on as an administrator.

I don’t have permission to do 3 and 2 didn’t work for me flushing the ip and 1 won’t work because i wasn’t connected and can’t talk to the administrator….

I had this issue with a user who couldn’t login to his account he was using a laptop, so I logged in to the administrator account and turned on the VPN to connect to the company network then instead of logging off I switched user and logged in with the user account and it worked
