What you have is a gift Nigel you find beauty and positivity wherever you can , you have the perfect mindset for today’s world and that is no mean feat, I applaud you and you will never know just how much you help and inspire people, me included Peace and love ❤️
You and Molly are daily, living proof of outlasting and exceeding health expectations. I see a man, with (as self-described) half a working heart, that does not labor at all in his breathing while walking and talking. I see a dog, 14 years of age, with a clear oomph in her step that I don't see in 14-year-old dogs, and it's not just because of her haircut 😊 but mostly due to slow living and a good caretaker who exercises his pet daily, along with himself. You may be happy if you went today but you are going to remain happy for a period that is longer than you or your doctors imagined. Peace and love to you Nigel whose videos speak to me like a brother in nature.
Thank you so much. That was an epic comment and brought a smile to my face. I do get out of breath quite often, especially when I talk and walk, or should I say, I used to. Your body dictates the pace, and why would I rush when I’m out in places of such beauty. 😊👍
@@primalengland Well, my comments simply mirror you, Nigel, who I have learned to care about quite a bit and want to support. And your kind comment, by the way, produced an unexpected and happy tear in my eye. It's nice to connect with someone whose values I share and respect very deeply. Keep soldiering on at your pace, as you will, and thank you again for the work you put into making the videos whose themes mean a lot to me. Will be in touch again, I'm sure. 😊
I would say that the reason you're still here Nigel is that you can help so many people - as evidenced by many of the comments to your vlogs. Long may you live and continue to inspire people!
Thanks mate, as always, your video leaves me feeling good about the blessed slow life..that life has put me into. Peace and love from beautiful Picton NSW Australia. My old Dad was from Middlesbrough and my Mum was a Scottish lass, I was was last in the UK 2 years ago and left my heart there...I left it in York if you ever need a spare one 😉🙏
York is a beautiful place. I’d leave your heart there, if I were you. It’s as good a place as any. My brother went to Newcastle Uni, then worked as a metallurgist at the steel works in Middlesbrough till he retired. He’s lived in a little village called Stokesley, a few miles south for half a century now. He, my nephews and my niece all have the accent, and waste all their money on Borough season tickets.
I loved what you said about how sitting in a chair to relax and clear your mind can be as effective and good as meditation. I think many people associate meditating with the commercial side of it: buying candles, training mats, sportwear, Buddah figures ... and often don't realise that they pursue the same goal by sitting in a chair without any fancy candles.
I’ve never even tried the whole full on Hippy meditation thing. I actually do it best sitting in a chair at the dining room table. It might be a ‘heart of the home’ thing, or it might just be comfortable. 😊❤️
Nigel I just really hope you realise how very much listening to you and being with you walking in the glorious woodland means to all your viewers. You truly are an inspiration. Your talks give me so much food for thought and I aspire to a calmer more meaningful life, now that is “later life” for me and I want to make the rest of my time meaningful and mindful, not mind full. The glorious colours of oranges and browns of your countryside are just fabulous, isn’t nature wonderful? Peace and love x
Nigel, i can say this much about you and Molly, You are my Guardian Angels online, you have helped and slowed me down to a pace of a Sloth in my own way as a minimilist living simples 😂 Thank you, Nigel. Peace and love to you and all souls on this thread. ❤ xx

Nigel, Thank You for Sharing Your Experiences that You have had. You are right, they don’t define You, as a Human Being! Peace is everything! ❤❤You are a True Warrior! I really needed to Hear this Message Today! ❤
Thank you for sharing this! I so needed to hear this. I’m 62 and don’t really have any health issues and just yesterday I said to a group of friends at lunch that who knows how much runway I have left! What a stupid thing to say. Although I can relate to your heart health story as my dad dropped dead at 40 from a heart attack and it is always playing in the back of my mind like a broken record. Thank you Nigel for waking me up.
I'm sure your mindset has helped your health ; mind and body are connected. This was a great chat Nigel. I just believe that a quiet life is a decluttered life, and allows you to focus on what really matters ; its like winnowing thrashed wheat. Meditation is a great thing ; in fact on RUclips there are many beautiful meditative nature scenes with lovely music to switch on and watch at home. Seeing that blackfur baby running around in the Autumn leaves is really lovely. Have a lovely day !!
Nigel one of my favourite things is to watch the leaves fall off the trees in the gentle wind, it's magical and peaceful. Blessings to you and wee Molly ❤

Molly is gorgeous with her haircut 🥰 I totally agree with you about meditation, Nigel. I suffer from depression/anxiety and there is nothing that calms me more than just clearing my mind and sitting in quiet solitude. ✌️❤️
Thank you for sharing your wisdom……and I want to add something. Your heart continues to work because you share love with others to make a difference. Love and peace to you sweet friend of RUclipsland.
Hi Nigel, your videos are always good value and packed with ideas for those of us who would wish to slow down. Molly's looking great today our lad's in to have his hair cut on Friday and he always feels the benefit. On a humorous note, my favourite quote of yours from this one is: "Anyway I did make it". 🙂 Cheers👍🏼
Hi Nigel. Just listened to you twice today. Learnt again and I have started to take 20mins quiet time per day. Love your music at the end. Molly looks great her coat is beautiful. Peace and love to you both.
Many thanks for sharing both your positivity and your stoicism, you're a generous soul and we all profit from your musings. Stay well & safe, mate Cheers❤❤
Thank you for sharing! I would love to be able to walk around with you and talk about life. I had cancer in 2010. I'm glad you're still here to talk about it. ❤️
Thank you for sharing your troubles as well as your advice, and quite right its no use worrying about the end for it comes for all of us eventually. I wont opine on the other subjects you touched on cause the comments arent meant for long tyrades 😊, see you on the flip Nigel & Molly
Nigel, thank you so much for making this and sharing your story❤ I needed to hear the part especially about not worry on the future and just live! Love sweet Molly’s hair cut!❤
The beginning of the video put everything in perspective. Juxtaposition is the only term I can think of to explain it. The scene was so serene, yet your recount of the actual heart attack occurring in this serenity was chilling. Just imagining what you were thinking at that time, I've got to put you up there with my sister, of whom I affectionately referred to as a "Gov...ment Mule" - stubborn, unrivaled, mental and physical strength. Happy to have you still in our midst. Your advice does not fall on deaf ears. The end of the video with Molly and music was calming. Apology accepted. lol
Steinbeck saw his friends ageing and turn into small kids needing care and being scared. He wanted to go on as usual. He drank too much, smoked too much but he wanted to die with his boots on. I respect that. My only worry is my little cat but I try to live as good as I can. We must enjoy what we can instead of sitting there being scared. A good day to you and Molly 🍂
I love this video! Thankyou for your honesty and sharing this with us . I have watched many videos on RUclips and this one will stay with me for a long time. I meditate and have done so for at least 10 or more years , learnt at my local Buddhist centre, had to pluck up the courage and do it , met some beautiful people, so I guess we are both hippie's ❤ 😊 .
I have never claimed to be a Buddhist, even though a friend, who is a Buddhist told me I was, but just didn’t realise it. 😊 I think I’m just an old hippy who found what suits him. 😊👍
@primalengland I'm not a Buddhist as such , just that there beliefs line up with mine as well. It was just I didn't know how to meditate and they were the ones to learn from at the time.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I admire the fact that they're alot of things that we can't control. Heart disease runs in my family and I know at 57, that is probably my fate. I don't worry about it like I did when I turned 50. Thanks again for your uplifting videos. Molly, as always, is a doll.
❤I really believe nature is very healing, in so many ways. I've noticed that living my country lifestyle has heighten my senses, and going to visit family which is constant noise is very grating on all of the senses. I feel sorry for my grand children, as even while they sleep, there's a noise machine 😢 there's never silence. For me with just a trip into town and returning home, my senses are greatful. I have unplugged the radio, when news, and politics became so one sided. I've no television. But now I need to get rid of my you tube addiction. But there are some I would miss. I have a lifetime of books to go thru. 😊 I am glad that you have slowed down, as your body has demanded 🤗 and listen to it.
I, too have no television. In fact, I’m sitting in the quiet, knitting and answering comments. I only knit in winter nowadays, and it’s my first project for ages, but it keeps me happy.❤️😊
Yes, peace and quiet are getting harder to come by. I live in an inner city locale and there's constant jack hammering, leave blowers and loud cars/bikes... I have a RUclips addiction but I'm going to manage it and keep to positive inspiring channels like this and leave out politics.
Thank you Nigel for sharing your story. You went through some struggles and I admire your outlook on life 👍. Nobody is safe from any diseases. I agree with you on mental health (which is a dreadful disease) and antisocial behaviour. Nowadays you can kill somebody and you get away with "mental health" issues 😡. Thank you that you are here and for spreading positivity 😊
I think a lot of people are afraid because health systems around the world are not being run properly and are being run into the ground so if anything should happen we'll not get the right care....especially if you don't have thousands to spend. I agree that slow living lessens the stress and that's a good start 🙂
Wow, Nigel, you really have been in the health wars! Bless you. I so agree woth your philosophy and love the nature walks that you take us on. Thank you and bless you. Live long and prosper as the Vulcans say! Tc.
I just heard a wisdom today ... Confucius, but would look good on every slow life old hippie, off-grid, flowery girl with a basket of sourdough cinnamon rolls channel: We have two lives, and the second begins when we realize we only have one. 🙏🏼🪷 Peace and Love to All of you out there - and hugs to Molly! 🐕🍁🤗🍂🌳 🪷💚
I've been on a path of meditation, philosophy, zen budism, and any other ways that add to life living in the light like Jesus said we should, and my life is excellent now!!! I used to not believe until I discovered it was real. I have seen the third eye and can do so whenever I wish. God is my best friend now, and I am rewarded. I now live with equinimity, tranquility, and harmony without concerns. I stopped drinking, and I exercise. I live in peace, constantly improving on who I can be. And the knowledge I'm gaining is incredible. Love and peace. 😁😇✌️
Nigelll🙋🏻♀️ Hiii to you and Molly on major catch up (weeks worth) l truly hope you and Molly are well🙏 I get you about worry🙌 though because l have learnt to trust God and His timing l can and do rest knowing He is ultimately in control so that gives me immense hope🙌💪💖 l was 20 when l surrendered to Jesus (and found He really was God) He transformed my life💖🙌l eventually left the established church years ago (as it was rotten back even then) 32 years later lm in awe of how God works in the world and l have truly come to love nature and the quiet life through my relationship with Him😀 and sadly yes the mental health label has well and truly been hijacked!! Time we got back to common sense Sorry long txt but God is good All of the time Love to you both🙏💖
I can tell from your comment that your faith is bringing you peace and joy. That is a wonderful gift to carry around with you. You are very blessed. ❤️
Awesome message. I've saved this video, it's right on the truth, Nigel. I do resonate with Buddhism/meditation...however, putting all that to one side, the tranquillity of being in nature and living a slow life is by far the best thing one can do for their overall health and wellbeing. We can step back and step away from all the external noise, realise that nature is our best friend and as you say Nigel, it has helped you in so many ways. I also believe that diet matters, I live on natures Kingdom of plant foods, fruits, vegetables, beans, salads, nuts and seeds...it has and continues to serve me well for which I am truly grateful. Nature really is our friend. ❤❤🙏🙏🐾🐾🌻🌻
I’d love to expand my diet. I was never a vegetarian, neither was I a meat eater. I never saw the point. For the most part it’s tasteless. I lived on veg and fruit, but now I can only eat rice, fish and the odd jacket potato. I never thought I’d get used to it, but now I look forward to my nice bowl of rice and ….. rice. 😁❤️👍
Good advice as always Nigel. I was recently reading an article about heart disease in women. It stated that Symptoms regularly ignored include acid reflux and heartburn. Makes you think dosent it. PS don't pop off for a long time yet, we'd miss you 😘
I’m not going anywhere soon, Kath. Heart disease in women is often overlooked. After menopause they are at as high a risk as men. Sometimes we have to go looking for this information ourselves, and that can’t be right. 😊❤️
You are a precious gem.💚Peace and love to you and Molly. We are here to learn and grow and evolve. Ever heard of the "ripple effect?" A tiny kindness has been known to move mountains.🧘♀
Hi Nigel, thank you for all you do, really need your walks and talks right now 🩵🙏🩵. I was just wondering, does your brother know you have this channel? Peace and Love 🩵🧡🩵
I like your videos .This one is particularly inspiring , the attitude you have to life is similar to mine now. The night before last I watched one by Gregg Braden entitled the HEARTBEAT of the EARTH Is Not What You Think , Gregg talks about a lot of things. This one may interest you. Wishing you all the best and may you continue with your walks for a long, long time.
Thank you, Rachel. I have earmarked that to watch tomorrow as I do my first knitting project of the winter. (I used to knit all year, but now just pick up the needles when the dark nights draw in.) 😊❤️
I use a dji osmo pocket3. It is a very popular vlogging camera. Very small, but has a built in gimbal, face tracking and shoots in 4k. It has 3 different colour profiles: d-log, which is like RAW on a normal camera, normal and enhanced. I use normal, but sometimes add a vey light LUT, (a colour grading) in editing to push the colours if they are a bit washed out or flat. The camera trying to cope with all the light/ shade will do that. Sounds technical but isn’t really. I’m an ex darkroom technician and semi-pro photographer. I used to give lessons. Photography has always been a passion. I have way too many cameras. 😊
I learnt TM (meditation) 10 years ago when I was a very busy nurse. I'm retired now and haven't missed a day of meditation in 10 years. Where is that beautiful place you're walking in? I live in Snowdonia and I find being outside in nature is the best thing. 👌
This is Rivington near Bolton. It’s a large area on the edge of the Lancashire Moors. It was developed between 1912 and 1925 by Lord Leverhulme. It has ornamental lakes, many ornate follies and even a castle, which is where we walk to. It covers several square miles, and since Lord Leverhulme’s death in 1925 it has just been left for nature to take over. Recently volunteers have been relocating and clearing old pathways. I have done two videos about it ‘Lord Leverhulme’s Rivington.’ I have spent many, many happy hours in Snowdonia….. many quite wet. I sometimes point out in my videos that I can see Snowdonia and Black Combe, the Southernmost fell in the Lake District from the hill on my walk. On a really clear day I can see the Langdales.
I didn’t know the first one was a heart attack. The doctor told me it was indigestion, so when the second came along I was a bit like Ebenezer Scrooge, and thought it was a piece of undercooked potato. 😁
Society says be ill, be sick, be mean, be cynical and dont take responsibility for it cos you are you, unique and precious. Then every1 wonders why they are so sad, dafties. Life is simple, it really is, hope folk glean that from your videos!
Ive had a few scares, First was in my 40's, it didn't bother me. Id lived a life and was greatful for all my experiences. Due to a really useful mental health diagnosis in my 50's Ive been slowing my life down, Ive found even greater contentment. Some people dont get it. Thing is people never have understood me, so they're not going to now. Why should I be bothered. As you say, you do you, I'll do me, they can do them. Im not going to say Im happy, the toxic cult of happy. Youve got to have the sadness. Since Ive slowed down I finally understand the concept of "this too shall pass" its just thoughts, feelings, allow them to happen, understand thats all they are, let them go.
When I say I’m happy, I think I mean I’m at peace, and I really am. I’ve led a fairly hectic life full of good and bad decisions. I’ve done most of the things I set out to do, and came out the other side with only a few bruises. I have little and want little. It’s a good place to be. Just sit me on the side of a hill with a cheese sandwich and a flask of tea, and I’ve got all I want.
@primalengland I understood what you are saying, always wuse words. Like you, I'm finding peace or contentment more often. When I talk of the toxic cult of happy, it's something folk chase with no comprehension of what it is, and why they toil in vain to find it. Spending vast amounts, not realising how to deal with the feeling empty or sad or any number of negative emotions.
Thanks for sharing your health journey and how slow living has made a difference. I have meditated off and on through the years but have been out of the habit as of late. What method of meditation do you practice?
My meditation is basically very simple to fit in with my lifestyle. I practice body centred or mindfulness meditation, where I can just focus on my breathing or body sensations. Transcendental or mantra based meditation makes me feel self-conscious, even when I’m on my own. I also taught myself walking meditation, and this often comes into my videos when I talk about concentrating on the rhythm of your breathing or your feet on the ground. I don’t tend to let myself do this now, because I need to be aware of where Molly is at all times. Her eyesight is going, and she soon loses me and panics. 🐕🦺🐾
So frustrating how many stories there are of people with serious urgent health issues being fobbed off by doctors and being told to take paracetamol or the like
What have I told you about swinging from them trees like an ape!! 🦧🙈 I parked in that car park one morning, and as I started out on my walk I fell flat on my face, damaging my shoulder. That very bench was where I sat to recover before struggling back to the car. My poor dog was really confused as to why we were going home as soon as we'd got there. 🙄 There's a really sad double tragedy attached to that bench, that you may be aware of. It had a very deep affect on me at the time. 😢 Life is so precious, and none of us know how long we will be here. Physical or mental health issues can affect any one of us at any time. So let's cherish this beautiful life whilst we can, because tomorrow isn't guaranteed. ❤
@@Dottiedolly52It happened a good few years ago now, and still troubles me occasionally. But I think my pride was more injured! 😂 Yes, my poor dog was most bewildered. But I took him back again later in the day. Nigel certainly has a knack for making us stop and contemplate how we're spending the precious time we've been given. 🙂
I was sitting under the shelter at Go Ape when I read this. We always have a last circular walk up to that bench, then back round to the barn. I looked at the bench to see if the plaque would give me a clue, but the plaque was gone, and the bench is rotting away. ❤️
@@primalengland Wow, What a coincidence about Go Ape! 😮 Sitting under the shelter is wiser than swinging from the trees at our age! I'll email you about the bench. ❤
Oh Nigel, you hit a nerve ….You shouldn’t have said that about Mental Health. I suffer with it dreadfully and it’s not just an excuse to be bad.@tammyintiaras. 🇦🇺 P.s love your channel. 😉🇦🇺
I have a bit of a thing about people labelling bad behaviour as a mental health issue. My son is 37 and has been on medication since he was 12. He was written off at school and we were told he was lazy and stupid. He was actually autistic. He was also very determined, and through brute determination that took years longer than other kids, he went to uni, got an excellent degree, and is now a university lecturer. He still has problems and is quite lonely, but we love him and are very proud of him. 😊❤️
I love that Molly figures so much in your planning and that you have a practical, pragmatic thought about the situation. I totally agree with you - I lost my last partner to a stroke - total shock when a fit, athletic 51 year dies and nothing can be done to save him. Live your life, treat every creature with kindness and share all the love you can. It’s a beautiful snowy morning here in Astley Bridge - loving it. 🩷
I’ll be going through Astley Bridge in an hour on my way to my mum’s. She lives up Tottington Rd and we’ll be coming down Belmont Rd from Scout Rd. Molly is always front and centre in my plans. I need to hang on till she goes. Although that will be awful, I can’t bear the thought of her being here without me. She’s a proper Daddy’s girl. 😊🐕🦺🐾

Thank you so much, Mark. 😊👍
Hi Nigel. Just listened to you twice today. Learnt again and I have started to take 20mins quiet time per day. Love your music at the end. Molly looks great her coat is beautiful. Peace and love to you both.
And peace and love from us two, too. 😊❤️
Many thanks for sharing both your positivity and your stoicism, you're a generous soul and we all profit from your musings. Stay well & safe, mate Cheers❤❤
Thanks so much, Seamus. 👍
Thank you for sharing! I would love to be able to walk around with you and talk about life. I had cancer in 2010. I'm glad you're still here to talk about it. ❤️
The company would be nice, Donna. 😊❤️
Wishing you Many more days for you and Molly in those woods 🍂🍂🍂🙏

Thank you for sharing your troubles as well as your advice, and quite right its no use worrying about the end for it comes for all of us eventually. I wont opine on the other subjects you touched on cause the comments arent meant for long tyrades 😊, see you on the flip Nigel & Molly
See you on the flip. 😁❤️
Nigel, thank you so much for making this and sharing your story❤ I needed to hear the part especially about not worry on the future and just live! Love sweet Molly’s hair cut!❤
Thank you so much. 😊❤️
Apology accepted. lol
Stubbornness is something we should all aspire to. 😊
The Cats Protection Leauge has a scheme for those who have a cat which might need looking after short or long term. Hope that helps
Every day scared is a wasted day, and a gain for those who would wish us ill. ❤️

@@primalengland I intend to get old just to be a nuisance 😂
@ If people ask me, I just say I’m not a Buddhist, but I live my life following some Buddhist principles, and that’s only by coincidence. 😊
❤Thank you Nigel, a beautiful setting my friend and your wise words❤ so true slowliving❤
Thank you. ❤️
Thank you, and thank you from Molly. 👍🐕🦺🐾
You are really our uplifter ❤
So are you. ❤️😊
I am glad that you have slowed down, as your body has demanded 🤗 and listen to it.
Thank you good information ℹ️
Thanks. 😊👍
Thank you, Anita. ❤️
I think a lot of people are afraid because health systems around the world are not being run properly and are being run into the ground so if anything should happen we'll not get the right care....especially if you don't have thousands to spend. I agree that slow living lessens the stress and that's a good start 🙂
I agree. Health systems seem to be run by bureaucrats with too little concern for the system itself.
Wow, Nigel, you really have been in the health wars! Bless you. I so agree woth your philosophy and love the nature walks that you take us on. Thank you and bless you. Live long and prosper as the Vulcans say! Tc.

I never thought I’d get used to it, but now I look forward to my nice bowl of rice and ….. rice. 😁❤️👍
@@primalengland Rice is good, love jacket potatoes. Enjoy your fish. Fruit, the berry family are excellent for health. ❤

Yes he does. I don’t think he goes on, but he does mention it when we see each other once or twice a year. He lives at the other end of the country.
(I used to knit all year, but now just pick up the needles when the dark nights draw in.) 😊❤️
I loved this video. May I ask which camera you are using? The colors are as beautiful as your message.
Can't believe after first attack you thought second one was indigestion Nigel, next time you get that feeling straight onto the phone for an ambulance

Bloody well said. Perfectly put. 👍👏
I LIVE in a valley surrounded by hills..your cheese sandwich on home baked bread and fresh flask of tea will be waiting for you whenever it suits :)

So frustrating how many stories there are of people with serious urgent health issues being fobbed off by doctors and being told to take paracetamol or the like
Too many tragic outcomes. You hear about them every day.
What have I told you about swinging from them trees like an ape!! 🦧🙈
I parked in that car park one morning, and as I started out on my walk I fell flat on my face, damaging my shoulder. That very bench was where I sat to recover before struggling back to the car. My poor dog was really confused as to why we were going home as soon as we'd got there. 🙄
There's a really sad double tragedy attached to that bench, that you may be aware of. It had a very deep affect on me at the time. 😢
Life is so precious, and none of us know how long we will be here.

Oh Nigel, you hit a nerve ….You shouldn’t have said that about Mental Health. I suffer with it dreadfully and it’s not just an excuse to be bad.@tammyintiaras. 🇦🇺
P.s love your channel.
