I am a Filipino living in the south and I belong to the Meranao tribe. We have our our own distinct dialect called Meranao. Philippines has a diverse culture. We, Meranao are adventurous that is why we can be found anywhere in the Philippines.
Really , my grandfather was the head of the non-Christian Tribes Affairs Administrator during the Quezon administration . We don't use "Meranao" is that code?

It’s actually “you’re” flashing... 😉 no hate just humouring you... My American neighbour was shocked when I tore down their electoral college system. He proceeded to say “wow, you’re really smart”. DOG MEATS ARE EATEN FOR PULUTAN EVERYWHERE. ONLY IDIOT WILL BELIEVED THAT DOGS ARE NOT EATEN THE VIDEO WAS MISSING THE IMPORTANT CHARACTER OF FILIPINOS. NO SELF DISCIPLINE. THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT THE PHILIPPINES THAT POVERTY IS THE NUMBER ONE PROBLEM. THAT IS 1,000,000% B.S. THE NUMBER ONE PROBLEM IN THE PHILIPPINES IS LACK OF DISCIPLINE. LACK OF DISCIPLINE IS FOLLOWED BY ALL BAD HABITS THAT RESULTED TO BECOMING POOR.
I grew up in the Philippines and I found these lies interesting. The whole different cultures from Island to island is 100% accurate…. The dog eating as taboo… might be part of that. I grew up in a southern village and they did eat dog. It was not in their restaurants or market place, but it was not uncommon to see dogs over a spit. If we were invited to a gathering, we did not ask what we were eating 😂 I loved It there and miss it very much!
Thank you so much. I appreciate all the positive comments you mentioned here. Coming from this Filipina with 40 + , years working here in the US, now retired RN. Bless your heart. 😊
I love Philippines 🇵🇭 I've heard that they are very friendly. I'm from India and our miss universe 1994 susmita sen has told that miss Philippino has help her during that miss universe competition.....may God bless Philippines...I hope someday I'll able to visit Philippines 🇵🇭 💜🇮🇳
lol! Susmita Sen is a legend in Philippines! In fact if you ask random people on the streets, they often get it wrong by thinking she is a Filipina beauty queen. Every time she visits the Philippines she is always on TV and in the news papers.
I live in the Philippines. Most filipinos do not eat dogs but some do. I have seen it with my own eyes many times. Some raise them to eat. It is sometimes the only meat they can afford. I respect their way of living especially when you need to survive. They have offered it to me. I have appreciated their generosity.
As a US citizen, I am married to a Filipina, have visited The Philippines many times and lived there for awhile. They are an extremely polite culture and it would "frost" me to no end when I saw other Westerners abusing that politeness just because of what they THINK of their status in a Third World Country- This was more common in the resort areas- I had seen numerous times when other Westerners and expats would confront these a-holes. I was once in a beachside cafe in Olongapo where this American woman with a New York accent at an adjacent table continued berating the waitress and treating her like garbage, so after I had heard enough I got up and told her off myself; She just sat there stunned...
Yes, we love Foreigners but doesn't mean we Filipinos are getting marry because of our Foreign partner‘s money or wealth. It just happened that helping our family back in the Philippines is already in our tradition. We grew up helping who are less fortunate than us eventhough we don't have that much. I’m leaving outside Philippines and it so ridiculous to hear stereotype about Philippines. Thank you for your equal point of views about Filipinos. 👍
Tbh, Here in Philippines if you have a foreigner husband it's mean you're easily to get. Or in just my city area but yeah. People here stare at your foreign [asawa] (gender neutral for both partners) it may because my city area is so conservative.
Thank you I’m originally from Davao city and I moved to California and I get bullied because of these stereotypes and my teacher played your video in class and that made me really happy thank you so much
Great insight, but if I may add: - Upper and middle class Filipinos are far from shy because they are well-read, travel, and speak English even amongst themselves. They’re huggers too, definitely not reserved. - If they were all nannies, who built all the skyscrapers? How do they have a thriving entertainment industry? Who’s treating the sick? Who are the people behind San Miguel Beer? - The capital is Metro Manila (National Capital Region) which consists of cities including Manila. - Slaughtering a dog and selling its meat is actually illegal in the Philippines.

That is so very true, I came to America through my Dad's sacrifices working in Guam during 70s, he paid our way in order to go to America. He was one of the Filipinos who worked with the engineers of Swinerton and Belvoir and Vinnell Corporation to develop the said territory . Not all Filipinas have the bad attitudes as some had experiences and I feel sorry for them that they have gone through those, I guess everywhere you could find people that are not trustworthy. Almost all Filipino parents are ambitious that they wanted their children to be successful in life , that's why when Leroy said that a lot of Filipinos are doctors , nurses engineers to name a few - very true . Filipinos living in America and wherever parts of the globe they are, they are contributing to the society. And not all Filipinos that are Nannies or domestic helpers especially in HK are not educated, they are literate, to name of these careers are nurses ,engineers ,teachers most of them, commerce grads etc., it just so happened that the economy was so low especially during the 90s. They have to work abroad to support their families. Leroy you're amazing to know all these , there are still so many things to say here... thank you and you're very much appreciated. God bless you.
My Wife is Filipino, Hiligaynon/Ilonggo in fact and I can confirm these stereotypes are so untrue. you get criminal activities in every country so that's not uncommon.
thank you for these comments and perceptions of the Philippines. I'm a bit prouder, as a result, of my Filipino heritage. And though it is not a perfect country, the Philippines is certainly one of the most welcoming countries in Asia to foreigners. Thank you for sharing this video.

Number 2: most Filipinos are after a relationship but there's a big percentage that want financial support to a certain degree and it's very high. Heads up. And as always, be educated, be aware.
I grew up in Southern California. I was stationed in Subic (88'-90') and was married to a Filipina. I have never heard of any of these 10 things you are talking about. I also lived in S. Overall this video is very enjoyable, most of the misinformation was addressed and corrected, and I also love to see another POC person talk about our country. Love this vid💗
Thank u so much as a filipino I hate the stereotypes of us:( i also get mocked because "im asianfishing" LIKE ITS A COUNTRY IN ASIA and I get called the most known asian countries: japanese, korean, and chinese, although theres many more places in asia! and also lets not forget that I got made fun of my accent, and some person made fun of filipino cause they said it sounds so weird:( and yes, I have monolids
Tagalog, Meranao, Cebuano, Ilocano and other Philippine languages are not just dialects. They are "languages". Example of dialects are: Tagalog Batangueño, Tagalog Bulacan, Tagalog Laguna etc.
@@akarihayami1122 may dispute pa among scholars dyan depende kung anong school of thought. But yes it is different in other Philippine languages kasi engineered language siya. Makati is the main business district of the Philippines, number two is Quezon City which also is in Manila. And most Filipinos can not afford to fund their travels themselves. It is absolutely common for Filippinos to send home money from foreign countries, this even accounts for 10% of the GDP. Tagalog is not a dialect, it's a language. English is not the first language, it's Tagalog. Get your facts right.
FYI, Filipinos CAN SPEAK ENGLISH,( but some are not fluent)WE JUST USE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IN SCHOOL, WORK AND FOREIGNER FRIENDS. because some of ppl here in pH when they heard both Filipinos talking in English they will think they are fussy 🥴. And one more thing filipino or tagalog is our first national language and English is second. BTW I love ur video.
To speak English no need to be fluent. Tayo lang mga Pilipino ang masyadong pinapansin ang grammar. I live here in Portugal they don't speak English especially old people. Medyo nahihirapan ako. My husband speak fluent in English Bec. he lives in U.S. for 15 years. Maraming bansa ang hindi marunong magsalita ng English
Eating dogs are really the thing in China. Chinese are the ones who eat them in the Philippines with a small minority following suit. But dogs are domesticated big time and only in China.
not just chinese and philippines, korea and vietnam as well, not all chinese eat dogs, there are some towns that still do that in china, like a town called yulin where dogs are being butchered and eaten. most chinese in a non dog eating regions are against eating dogs and protest about that cruelty.
Filipino women are always hoping to marry a foreigner from a developed country. Reasons for this are the lack of jobs there and the poor pay of any job you might find there, no matter how well educated you might be. Many will look to get jobs overseas for the same reasons. For example: Next year a rise in wages will see teachers get 23,000 pesos per month. That's less than £350/$400 dollars per month or approximately £80/$92 per week. You'll need to spend 4 years in college to get a degree and then need to study further to get a CTP and then, preferably, an LET. A lot of time and expense for a small prize.
I must admit coming from the UK we learn next ti nothing about the Philippines but that likely due to never being part of the Empire. Nice country and nice people.
Whenever I remembered Philippines have 7,000 or so islands and only 2,000 have some people... Different cultures in different islands, different people and religion, dear ghad I feel like in One Piece Grand Line 😂
I have a friend that has been wanting to visit the Philippines for almost 10yrs. He has an US Passport but have a felony conviction (2007). And he believes the flights go through Japan airport before going onto the Philippines. So my friend is afraid he will be arrested at the Philippine's or Japan's port of entry. He was flagged and threatened to be arrest in Canada at the border from Buffalo, NY.
I've found nothing on my visits that I didn't love or appreciate about the Philippines, beautiful place, warm friendly people, maybe the trikes and jeepneys could be made a bit more comfortable though ... I love the place

😂 I love how you opened this ! Yes, we women here are not meek.... if we seem to be quiet to you it really is because we cannot find the right words to use, we are not comfortable expressing ourselves or we know it’s a waste of time talking to you. 😆 I also love how accurate and factual your discussed your list ...sans the normal pronunciation difficulties in some Filipino words. It’s interesting how you may have shared information about the history of why Tagalog was/ is still mistaken as the National language that some of us natives here may not be even aware of. The National Language topic is a sticky topic even in Academic circles here. Hahaha! Happy to have discovered your channel. 😊
Pilipino is the language of the Filipinos. It has approximately 2Million words counting the complex Balarila conjugation of Verbs. To simplify communication, many foreign words, about 4,000 Spanish, 2,000 English, 1,000 Chinese and another 1,000 foreign words from other places were simply absorbed into the daily oral discourse. Example :Naitala ng mga agham na ang Buntalang Mercury ang pinaka mabilis sa pag-inog sa kalawakan. (The scientists had written that the planet Mercury is the fastest in its orbit in space.) My wife is non-Tagalog and will be lost if I talk to her in Classical Tagalog.

Its true that Filipinos love to travel and have friends from another country
As a US citizen, I am married to a Filipina, have visited The Philippines many times and lived there for awhile. They are an extremely polite culture and it would "frost" me to no end when I saw other Westerners abusing that politeness just because of what they THINK of their status in a Third World Country- This was more common in the resort areas- I had seen numerous times when other Westerners and expats would confront these a-holes.
