I personally LOVED (!!!!!) ruthless vows. A lot of it focuses on their individual journeys and the romance doesn’t come in till later in book. I think a lot of people loved divine rivals for the romance and were disappointed when it wasn’t as romance heavy since the characters are apart for a while. however i personally think ruthless vows was so romantic and beautiful. I adored it even more than divine rivals. don’t be scared! 💖

Yes I absolutely loved ruthless vows, I will admit the first was my favorite, but in saying that, divine rivals was a six star book, top book of 2023 it is one of my absolute favorite books of all time, but I still have ruthless vows five stars, I read it in a day, I just adore the characters and the writing and the romance and it still is one of my favorite books I have read so far this year

I’m at 70 books out of a 100 goal for the year! My favourite book of the year has been ‘A Grave Robbery’ by Deanna Raybourn. I don’t know how to describe my love for the series. 9 books in and it’s still just as/ if not more entertaining as it was in the beginning. 1800s England murder mystery, independent heroine, top notch banter, cozy, romantic but not spicy. It’s just my all time favourite series.

i LOVED ruthless vows personally. it is definitely more focused on the politics/ war and the characters individually, so there is significantly less romance than the first one but i still think this book was absolutely amazing.

Hey rachel! i really encourage you to read the dead romantics! I went into it with the mindset that it's a pretty ''mid'' book BUT i was very surprised and it ended up being a 4.5 star read for me. I really connected with the characters and I loved the part were it dealt with grief. Hope this helps you decide if you want to read it or not.

i LOVED ruthless vows! i was initially scared too because of the reviews so i went in knowing the romance was not going to be as heavy as the first book. I think you definitely have to go in with the expectations of the romance being somewhat of a sub plot and more on the war. BUT I LOVED EVERYTHING THE WRITING AND THE ROMANCE! IT WAS STILL A 5 STAR FOR ME!!

I personally liked Ruthless Vows more than Divine Rivals. It gets more into the war and fantasy elements and I just found myself unable to put it down.

I simply adored Ruthless Vows, it’s what made me go back and rate Divine Rivals five stars as well. I feel it’s more world building heavy compared to the first book, but I actually really liked how it further explored this and why Iris and Roman made the choices they did, based on that

Yes Rachel…you NEED to read ruthless vows 🤣 I also was put off by all the negative reviews but honestly?…I actually preferred the second book (and so did a few of my friends who read it!)
I would say the first book focuses on the romance and the second book focuses on the world and the war that is surrounding them but personally I felt like it added so much, it made the romance even more gut wrenching (if that was possible) and just added so much more depth to divine rivals ❤

A bit unrelated to the video, but I feel like in recent years, I've lost a lot of the love I had for reading because of things like work, my personal life, etc. I've only been able to finish one book this year, and I've been feeling pretty bad about it. But watching you talk about the books you read has left me feeling a bit hopeful that I can get out of this slump and find love in reading again ♡

I felt exactly the same, I think I read like 5 - 10 books last year and then was in this reading slump for MONTHS like I got so many books for my birthday in janurary because everyone sees me as this person that loves books, and i do, but i didn't read them until the beginning of march, which is when i found Rachel, and haley pham, Sara, destiny and all those girlies, and it really made me want to read again. now I'm at forty one books for this year, it get's better, i promise! I hope you find your love for reading again!! (sorry this is really long, i didn't mean for that to happen 😂)

I LOVED both Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows, they are just different books. The romance is still very present in the 2nd book, but not the central plot as it is for the first. Ruthless Vows is much more about the backstory of the gods, the political machinations of the world and the war, and how humans figure into it. I enjoyed that more detail as I felt that was lacking in book 1. You also get to know a few more characters, and I loved them too! I gave both 5 stars, so I encourage you to give it a go! It is a very tight duology, no word or chapter wasted, and Rebecca Ross knocked it out of the park for this reader!

I think you may enjoy it more than Bunny based on the magical/fairytale themes, and for its commentary on beauty standards and obsession with youth/perfection. Whenever you’re in the mood for something totally different and with some darker/gothic vibes… then give it a try.

i’ve read bunny and rouge by mona awad, i also wasn’t sure how i felt about bunny i was pretty confused, but i really enjoyed rouge, it definitely had some elements of like “is this actually happening or not” but it was more fun to read imo!

My favorite series this year has been the remnant chronicles by Mary e Pearson! Kiss of Deception took me by surprise but it had me SQUEALING!

Your fears for ruthless vows are exactly how I felt AFTER reading it and actually recommended my friend not to read it because I wish I hadn’t :( the reasons I adored divine rivals just were missing and I wish I’d left it to just enjoy the story as it was

Yesss! Get on Ruthless Vows. I’m still so shocked you haven’t. I loved it, gave it 5 stars. One of those ones where I stayed up way too late cause I needed to finish it right then and there 😂

I loved Ruthless Vows! The world-building isn't like the best but I feel like that's not what this series is for anyway. There's just as much romance imo
