One vehicle...actually two the M113APC with a Number one and three on it is used to assist Space Shuttle Crews in an evacuation of the shuttle prior to launch.
You could call it self-propelled but its really not. It is a Portee. You can see the two wheels in above the vehicle in the back, it is a (towed) 155mm artillery piece that is basically getting a piggy-back ride from the truck.

I would have to serously question the funding some of these fire stations have if there fire chiefs are driving EXOTIC cars that money would have been better used on trucks, equipment or hiring additional fire fighters
Well I looked at it again and I failed to see a single vechile that had been derived from a Sherman Chassis, but I see your opoint that some of the chassis might have been derived from tank chassies, but generally speaking a tank is a vechild with armor and a main battle weapon, and when both are removed it seases to be tank anymore. For instance there are a lot of vehicles for towing, lifting, bridge laying, etc. that are on tank derived chassis but aren't tanks.
Well there is a at least one E-One in here, look at it again. And as for the euro trash, they do seem to be more exotic and thinner (agile for the old streets and lanes or European Cities not originally desisnged for motorvehicles). And the european fire agencies are more focused on an ALL HAZARDS/Disasters approach so you see more heavy lifting equipment that can be used to rescues at structural collapses.
hey mike, that fire truck with caterpillar, i think the goverment dont use that for fire fighting, i think thats for riot control, you probbably seen a riot already, they use water to subdue the riotees
