    Thank you! I'm a private insurance newbie having come to Oz on a TR visa. I just got my healthcard from Frank (yeah I know 😂) and I'm not sure when exactly do I swipe this? Pretty sure the POS doesn't read it but it does have a magstripe so it's swiped somewhere?

    I'll be arriving in Australia a month before my oshc starts which is arranged by university itself. Can i buy a new oshc from a different provider for this starting month or should I go for a date change? Tried calling oshc provider which is arranged by university for a date change but didn't get any reply. So buying a new policy from a different provider for 1 month is a good option ?

    There is a question not related to the topic. can you please tell me I need to make sure of it. While applying for the 500 subclass student visa and preparing the OSHC for me and my wife, can it be a singular cover for each of us? As you know, the couple's cover is expensive. However, I heard that the immigration is accepting a separiate singal OSHC for both of us but the insurance companies will not. If this is the case, how do I get benefits from the OSHC insurance when I arrive in Asuralia?

    • @kavitashresthaofficial
      @kavitashresthaofficial  2 года назад +1

      Have you checked with the insurance company? Me and my husband had separate ones at the start and we didn't have any problem. Check with the company you have insurance from. The benefits should still be same.

    • @Osamah2008

      @@kavitashresthaofficial thx for the reply the insurance companies are not straight in their answers however I got to know via an insurance provider and. Migration agent that we can get separate single oshc due to rules of home affairs but the main applicant is the only one that is getting benifts from the cover while the partner is not. Those instructions companies are really sickmindwd sorry to say that .... They want to Force couples to get couple oshc which is 7Xcost ... Which increasingly the oshc cost raised in a dramatic insane way ...

      @kavitashresthaofficial  2 года назад

      @@Osamah2008 I know, it's disheartening to see how some insurance companies can literally drain you. In terms of benefits, if your partner gets a separate insurance cover, she will get the benefits that are outlined in the policy which would be same as yours even if she is not the main applicant (from my personal experience). Have a good day!

    Hi Kavita, hope your husband is doing well. Sorry to hear about such bad experience you had to go through. Are you not covered by Medicare if you are a PR? I'm applying for Medicare on 491 visa and was planning to discontinue OVHC from the previous visa. Please suggest if I should discontinue my OVHC.

    • @kavitashresthaofficial
      @kavitashresthaofficial  3 года назад

      Hi Jasmine, things are better now. Unfortunately, we didn't have our PR when that happened. I think after PR, it depends on you whether you want to continue with your private health insurance or not. I personally prefer to have one, so that I don't have to wait too long even for non urgent procedures. However, the cost varies according to your location in Australia. Also, consider how good your public health system is in your locality before you make decision. Good luck :)

    Hello, wonderful video.
    I have got the best possible OVHC for my parents that are coming over to Australia in the coming months with Allianz- do you think that it's worth it considering the waiting period? They are quite healthy for their age however have had a few heart issues in the past. Wondering if I made the wrong decision?
    Any help would be amazing!

    • @kavitashresthaofficial
      @kavitashresthaofficial  2 года назад

      I think you have done the right thing. Sometimes even if people have nothing diagnosed, life can throw anything at anytime. So, even with waiting period for some of the services, I feel it's still worth it and Allianz is a good option. I have seen people in visitor visa diagnosed with cancer during my placement days. And the bed charge is about $2000-$2500 per day even in a govt. hospital for a visitor. Image that cost out of pocket!

    • @kavitashresthaofficial
      @kavitashresthaofficial  2 года назад +1

      Hi Rasengan, as far as I am aware one of the student visa conditions is to have OSHC when u land here. That means you can start OSHC before arriving in Australia and adjust the date after coming. Best would be to talk to your consultancy. OSHC only starts the day you land in Australia, so you will get your money back for days before that. I hope that make sense. All the best! 😊

      I would highly suggest you to visit any insurance office to get an idea about the type of insurance u can have. If you are concerned about the cost, after u know the type of insurance u need, u can always check the rates other insurance companies are offering for the same type of policy cover. And then, choose what suits you.

      Hi Zeeshan, firstly I am not an insurance expert. So, any information I provide would be purely from either my own experience or from internet. As far as I know, most of the insurance policies for visitor visa doesn't cover cost related to pregnancy and birth. The ones that do, has waiting period of 12 months, before which they would not cover pregnancy related cost.

      Hi Himani, your Bupa OHSC doesn't start until you are here in Australia and there is a waiting period upto 12 months after your policy starts. Most of the policies here have this criteria, however with Allianz OHSC there were few benefits available until few years back. You can check with them for an updated one. All the best dear!

    Hello Kavita, I am hoping your husband must be better now. My wife is coming to Australia to pursue her masters and I and my daughter will be accompanying her. I am a diabetic patient, want to know if medicines are covered in insurance? Also, if we are infected and Covid positive, then is it free under the health insurance?

    • @kavitashresthaofficial
      @kavitashresthaofficial  2 года назад

      Hi Hardik, good to hear you guys are coming here. OSHC covers medicines under pharmaceutical benefit scheme upto some extent. It varies from policy to policy and also if you have a standard hospital cover or have extras associated with it. If anyone is infected with COVID and admitted in hospital, he/ she will be given inpatient services similar to admission with any other condition. Waiting period may apply for few services. Please note, I am not an insurance expert. Please read your policy thoroughly. All I can do is provide you a link of an example of oshc policy. Hope that helps!
