With Remote Desktop, my work laptop never leaves my office when I travel. You have the full capability of windows through your iPad. It’s been great for me.
I tried for several years to replace my laptop with an iPad Pro. The lack of full external monitor and mouse support always drew me back. My two in one Chromebook and Surface Pro 7 have been more practical and enjoyable experiences for me.
Exactly, ipad simply cant replace my laptop (macbook). But ipad has a place. Mostly for browsing and touch screen work like drawing, notes, and stuffs. Tbh if mac is touch screen, it would be the perfect device for me. I use shapr3d and procreate for my hobby/work and if i can use it on pc it would be god send
It seems more practical to use it as a laptop if you have a dedicated desktop setup with MacOS to use alongside it. The iPad on its own as your only computer sounds terrible.
The iPad works amazingly the box came a little dirty, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA no plastic wrap, but the box was sealed and had everything else in the box along with the wrapping, the iPad itself is gorgeous, I got the yellow 64g game storage is good for me along with Socials and school stuff. No scratches or marks came with the charger and box fast speed, and if you are buying a pen get the 1st gen don’t make the mistake I did !!
An iPad Pro 12.9” can be a great alternative to replace a PC laptop, but for the price you pay for the device plus a keyboard, you are better off buying a refurbished M1 MacBook Air for $849 at the Apple website. It all depends on the user. For me, I rather get the iPad Pro 12.9” over the MacBook Air because all I need is MS office and when I am done with productivity task, I can comfortably start reading books/mangas on my free time.
Completely agreed. My job provides me with the work laptop. My personal computer would be something to store my personal files and something for me for studying / leisure / some light MS office work. I don’t even need it to check emails as I do it with my iPhone. Even my iPad8 is good enough for all these. So the more proper question for everyone is what exactly you need for a personal device for things that you can’t do with your phone. It is not very necessary to debate whether iPad can replace a Mac or PC. I’m in love with how convenient to use iPad to study. It’s painless to switch between tablet mode for note-taking and written practice test and laptop-like word processing for writing essays with the same device.
Are you kidding, with the price you don’t even need to get refurbished. A 11 Ipad Pro is as expensive as the M2 Macbook Air. That’s actually what keeps me from the Ipad period.

I’ve come to understand that I must think of/use the iPad for all it is and not think of it as a laptop replacement. Like you’ve said, there things it does awesome and others not so well. So it’s to just focus on what it does well and use something else for that you need that device to do. But when it comes to that singular device if I have to choose one to go on a trip, I’ll always choose the iPad Pro 11’ with the Apple Pencil and magic keyboard. 👌🏾👌🏾

iPad with M1 can run macOS but only when Apple allows it, that I can replace my desktop and laptop with an iPad. All the baby versions of desktop apps that I use on my current iPad slows me down that I always go back to PC.

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro running parallels. Using it for windows development. I have an iPad Pro 12.9 and connect remotely via Jump. It works flawlessly.
I think the iPads software was intentionally limited to reduce software load so it can perform faster in current tasks...most M1 MacBooks are slower because their OS is more complex it seems
While expensive, the iPad Pro is the perfect support device for me. It can't replace my laptop but it CAN be the perfect tool at the right time. My primary machine is my M1 MBA. I use the iPad Pro as a secondary screen when I am on the move and respond to email and Teams with the iPad. The speed of the iPad Pro is unparalled.
As an airline pilot I'm not able not to except this device ;) On my job it's fully replaced my laptop and works perfectly. All aeronautical maps and information, documentation is just on the fingers. The only thing that makes me upset that I'm not able to install any kind of my personal software ;)

i dont think the comparison ipad pro vs mbp air is fair. I never once heard anybody that could do the swap in real life. This is a "youtuber/influencer" reality. There is absolutly no way the person who needs a computer to use only the ipad. That said, i do use an ipad pro ( older ) with my computer for some work, but thats it... its one more tool, not a replacement. The lack of file management system ( that works ) is bizarre in 2022 to be real and its a deal breaker for most people. I guess ios is not a pro OS.
Yes! totally agreed you as I used to use Samsung android tablet, there are so many operations difference to adapt filing system especially the i tunes system which is a big difficulties and annoying if you used to desktop Windows operation habits! I appreciate you are not simply blind faithed to glorify apple products are always perfect nor better, it is really a niches product for trendy impression rather than practical good users experience point of view! the renaming issue is frustrating on monterey os, too. in windows, i can choose those 30 files, name them 1976dodgewarlock and windows adds numbers to each after the name. mac os? not so much. so the ipad os is just an extension of apple not giving much of a fuck about this issue.

An iPad is too limited and I don't like Apple's "walled garden" where every software comes from the App store. That is too much power of the manufacturer over my device.
@@villegas24 Depends upon the contacts and the user. I use my iPad specifically for sheet music reading and controlling my guitar set up via Bluetooth. Definitely would not want to try that with a MacBook :-)
Meh. No thanks. I'm on my 2nd (non Apple) tablet and the current one collects dust most of the time. My next upgrade will be the Macbook Air 15". Computers are just better for surfing the net, emails, file/photo manipulation and video watching.

The problem is: iPad can’t replace a laptop, and a laptop can’t replace an iPad. But owning both is kinda wasteful. 😅

can you have 3 ppts open simultaneously being 2 read-only and one that you are creating? can't do this on my galaxy tab (android).
