Show me a mascara ad where they aren’t wearing false lashes. It’s common practice. Just like airbrushing. People need to let it go.
But that is the opposite of why we watch reviews from real people. If we wanted to see the movie magic we would just watch the product ads.
I have tried this mascara, in part because of the backlash. I have thin lashes. They are long but thin, and as I've edged closer to 60, they have paled in color. I curl my lashes for the most part because they will smudge my glasses if I do not. I like this mascara. A lot. I'm not in love with the brush, it is linger than I am comfortable with. But the formula is superb. For me.
I absolutely trust you more than any viral influencer. You were here BEFORE RUclips was a way for people to get a quick cash grab. You've ALWAYS been real👏 Thanks for being consistently trustworthy, Cassie!!!

I don't care about this thing one way or another I do find it terribly ironic that J* is even allowed to walk freely in the beauty community after everything he has said and done. I mean legitimately horrific, abusive and illegal things (allegedly🙄). I know that guy from the warped tour days too and I can unequivocally tell you how dangerous and toxic he was back then. The internet definitely seems to enjoy going harder and holding women more accountable in this sphere than any man.

Let’s not forget when he supported Dahvie Vanity after he said he knew about him bringing underaged girls in his room for s*x "We saw Dahvie bring under age girls to his hotel rooms an do sexual things.”. The guy was accused of SA by 21 women.
This is on top of his horrific behaviour towards his fans, his lies and drama, the fact that he used any and every tragic thing (blm) to promote his stuff.
If this is a person you support and defend, that speaks volumes about what you think is an ok person, or even a normal one tbh. Everyone else doesn’t like him BECAUSE of this. A sheep is someone who doesn’t look for info and just believes whatever they are told. I for one would like to congratulate you. I have watched you for a long time because i believe in your reviews. I have dry skin and still watched your reviews on foundation. Ive been watching beauty related channels on youtube over the last 10 years and most of them I stopped watching because I no longer related to them or stopped enjoying their content but ive consistently come back to your channel, even when I havnt watched any of your videos for months at a time, when I do watch one, its always enjoyable, down to earth, real & relatable. I think youre very successful and you did that by just being yourself, through your personality alone, Id bet anything that if the majority of beauty youtubers put out channels just being themselves they would not have a fraction of the success that you have.
Ironically enough a lot of beauty RUclipsrs became just like the paid advertisements we all hated.

Just because you're all in the same content field doesn't mean you have to let the drama enter your channel or life. I recall that you only found out about this through a live you were doing. The world is full of crap, especially these days. It's up to each and every one of us to chose to let it effect us or not. I think talking about it, you chose to let it enter your life. Just my opinion of course.
I don't believe that any large scale company like L'Oreal has upstanding morals these days. The way she skimmed over yet still slightly acknowledged the drama makes me feel like L'Oreal was in on it. The internet sure does love a conspiracy, right?

She's 23. Hopefully she'll address this and learn from it. It's a little silly to trust anyone else's judgment and assessment but their own. Makeup is extremely subjective, after all.

The FTC has a guide for "social influencers" on sharing content where you've been paid, sponsored, sent free product, etc.
You don't even follow their guidelines. A lot of people don't. So I'm not sure I really think it's fair for a bunch of older RUclipsrs to be hypocritically coming for Mikayla. Everyone, including you, puts out better content when it's sponsored. You (general "you") want the paycheck. What Mikayla did was wrong, but no one is without fault in this.
If someone with little lashes (I’ve seen this mostly work amazing on short lashes) likes this brush but wants to help their lashes grow, Bare Minerals has the same brush on their Strength and Length.
I feel like "beauty drama" is the result of cosmetic companies unethical marketing and unfortunately influencers get caught up in that mess bc they're just trying to make that coin. The only side that wins in all this is Loreal. The market is flooded with mascaras and yet somehow everyone is talking about this mascara.

As someone who has super long, heavy and straight lashes I actually love that you tried a waterproof version too! I can only wear waterproof so it’s a great reference point

I unsubscribed from Makayla and Jacklyn Hill because I feel like I can't trust them. I do rely on these videos to see what I want to spend my money on. I just don't get why Makayla even lied if the Mascara was good. I understand when someone wants to make people happy, but it shows how easily her morals are swayed. I just don't want to waste my time with people that lie so easily, and keep lying in their comments to their followers.
I like Mikayla's reviews, but there are a lot of things I can live without. I don't like the cussing and political opinions in make-up reviews, but she is someone I trust(ed). With that said, I think Mikayla and L'Oreal planned this. This drama brought so much awareness to L'Oreal and the mascara. I am sure the sales of the mascara and other L'Oreal products are through the roof. It is clear that the lashes were fake, and I do not think Mikayla cares. She recently made a video on a moral and political subject, and in the video, she told people who disagree with her opinion to unfollow her. I think she has enough followers that she does not care if some drop her, or L'Oreal paid her enough not to care. After all, something else will happen, and this will be forgotten.
Malibu wore it all day, didn't get into the drama, and gave her honest opinion.

I’ll say that I’ve remained a subscriber to you because you have always been honest. And you don’t have a flashy background with tons of lights and filters. I appreciate the natural lighting. It allows us to see how real skin looks. Unlike skin that’s being overexposed by ring lights and soft boxes. We have similar skin types so your opinion matters to me.
I will also say that I have found people are subscribing more to people who aren’t as flashy these days. People are looking for relatable people because more and more people are realizing how unattainable the influencer life style can be.

Most of us are capable of caring about more than one thing at a time. Mikayla lied to her viewers by using false lashes in order to sell the product. Lying and being deceptive in ads is not only immoral but illegal. So yeah, people have the right to feel angry about this.
It's gonna take a real special mascara to beat our my lash paradise or sky high. I appreciate your review and... well I trust you so I may have to give it a try in the future

Mikayla is often showing of her wealth with LV & Chanel stuff (clothes and bags etc) & has had a LOT of other drama surrounding her BEFORE lashgate.

She also didn't disclose that it was a paid partnership UNTIL she was called out a day later and she added that tag a whole day later that it was a paid partnership with the little TT link at the bottom of the screen. So she broke the FTC for clear and concise ad description and it MUST show ad/sponsorship etc ABOVE the fold/show more section. Etc etc

I'm so happy you mentioned this! I thought about reviewing this mascara and I also have longer lashes (use a lash serum) and good to know it works well for our lash type. Do you find it does more lengthening or volume or both? TY! My favorite is Essence Lash Princess so far

I needed a new mascara so I bought this one too. I really like it. I also like that the brush comes out without gobs of mascara on it like so many other kinds.
I was an OG follower and I've unfollowed. She has had some other drama and her views were down then this happened.
Now ppl are just following her as they want a notification for more drama or for her to AT LEAST address her lies and that she broke the law.
If you did this is Australia, UK Or EU, you'd be fined millions for the not having AD clearly displayed and the falsifying of results.

Mikayla has had a LOT of other drama where she'd done some bot so great things too before lashgate - hence her views were down.
Dustin Dailey did a video on it also.
People are also MAD. As she's come back and acted EXCEEDINGLY smug and carried on as normal, vlogging a Brand Trip with Glow Recipe etc. Ppl only watch her now to see if she'll actually address her lies and law breaking.
Personally, as an OG follower, I unfollowed and want nothing to do with her.
Back at the start, she recommended great products, then she got greedy & flaunted her wealth that was only possible from followers.
She was also allegedly offered over 200k for the ad and L'Oréal hasn't responded either. They've just left it as has Mikayla.
People who do all of this are gross and I'm not about it.
I think you actually got better results by not following the written application method. I’ve seen other RUclipsrs test it per instructions and their lashes looked straight up clumpy and spidery.
It seems like an OK mascara to me, but I dunno if I want to try it (mainly because I wasn’t a fan of the original telescopic mascara).
And I do appreciate that you give honest reviews and aren’t afraid to say you don’t like a product. I find so many ‘popular’ influencers only give positive reviews to products and it’s very suspicious to me. Also, I’m convinced Mikayla uses filters-you don’t see pores on her and that’s a dead giveaway to me to not follow someone or trust their opinion. I want to see pores, redness, skin rash, etc, to know how things really look!
I never did really take a liking to her, something I felt was off and I felt that she maybe one day there will be something dishonest about something. I was not wrong. I can see why people like her. If I didn't have that feeling and her accent didn't annoy me I probably would like her too. But I just felt like something would go down. She probably thought no one would pay attention because so many people do like her. But sometimes when you get so popular and liked you can get careless, and she did with this. Maybe this will teach her to be more genuine, not use filters, unless it's like for an announcement or something, not for a makeup review or try on.
