Seems like the issue is the bore/stroke. Needs more bore and less stroke or else its gonna just keep making low end torque, likely what Ford was going for with the car to begin with. Cool to see how fast you guys have started modding one. Keep the videos coming!
Gotta drive around on that 104 boost for about 20 miles so it kicks in. Just adding it to the tank on the dyno is not going to get the fuel into the system, you need see miles with that fuel mixing.
What kind of wheel and tire setup are you using? It looks nice and it looks like it would be good for track. Are you're using either a different offset or a spacer? I'd like to replicate that look. Can you tell me the specs of your wheel setup? Thanks in advance!
Fair enough, but the results are still exactly what I'd expect. There was never going to be a significant gain without readjusting timing/boost. Coolers, as you ended off by mentioning, are all about creating consistency on a given tune and/or creating overhead in terms of intake temps (i.e. for increased knock resistance) to cater for a more aggressive tune. Any chance this car will be seeing an E85 tune?
I take it these motors are direction injection nowadays? If so the biggest hurdle might be the high pressure pump rather than the intank one. That's certainly the case when trying to run E85 on the BMW/VW DI motors
Yes, this car is DI. Exactly why we are looking at auxiliary kits. The added benefit is spraying the back of the intake valves. That alone will pay off in maintenance down the road
Quick question let's say you plug in your acessport and download the tune you want if you unplug it do you lose the tune? (I'm worried about someone stealing my port that's why I'm asking)
Matt B Nah man, once you flash the tune on your ECU it will stay on your ECU until you decide to flash another tune or go back to stock tune. Most people leave their accessport plugged in while driving so they can take logs on the fly, or monitor things such as feedback knock/dam/afr
I see you guys are dyno'ing it in AWD. I usually see it being done with the rear wheels disconnected as the readings are not consistent since it tries to send more power to the rear and then the computers trip out because it sees the fronts and rears spinning at different speeds?
You have more power. It’s reading low because you are running it in 4wd. You have to put it in dyno mode so it stays in only fwd for the dyno. The diff freaks out on the dyno so you have to have it in dyno mode otherwise it will read low
Matt McGhee definately not 2.3L eco is the only one that is twin scroll, last guy posted deleted his comment after he went and looked it up. Go research and turn that pretty sure into an actually answer.
Yea you're probably right. I really have no idea how any of this works. Even though I'm sitting here staring at the overlays. Pretty funny to say the least.
Hi guys I have a question. This car out of the box is already at its max. As stated by the ford engineers so I'm not making this up. At the end of the day it's a still focus with a fancy awd... Have you seen any issues come from it like over heating, can you even tell when your rear wheels cancel out due to heat? I'm sure you won't be zipping around in the winter like you can with many other awd cars. In all honest is it worth it?
Rodion Murdakhayev This is exactly what I've been hearing, it's a strange setup for me. The more I read about it, the more I like certain things and the less I like certain things. When I first heard about the RS I was pumped, the AWD sounded amazing, 350hp at the crank sounds amazing, the interior looked sweet and overall the car sounded good. Now I'm hearing the rear diff. overheats which disables the rear wheels, or people are purposely disabling the rear wheels themselves and essentially are then driving an ecoboost ST, while putting mad stress on the front end. I also hear that Ford pushed this engine to its limits and backed off just enough to be reliable and sellable. This tells me there isn't much room for easy tuning or getting much turnout for your efforts. Which also tells me to really make some highly noticeable gains, you'll have to swap the turbo and build the engine before you even get a number worth the money. I also hear the interior is much nicer than I originally thought, I guess it's like Bentley quiet in there, so I like that. Lol
It's not at its max power wise. We cap the car at 400wtq as we were told that's the threshold you want to keep for longevity. Overall we are up 70whp and almost 100wtq on race gas. Still going strong! If we removed the torque limiter in the ecu, this car would make a crazy amount of torque. But that's what kills engines so we tone it down. And we have yet to see an issue with the awd. The next day we beat on it a lot on a short technical course with 98° ambient temps. The last two sessions I was purposefully in drift mode and sliding the car everywhere to make the RDU work a lot. Still didn't fail. Only thing we saw were high oil temps which were to be expected. And we have something coming to remedy that.
badams0311 Good to hear! I'm starting to hear horror stories, so it's nice to know your build is coming along and no issues popping up. I want to hear what these sound like with an open downpipe. Should sound pretty nice ^^
Marco Hernandez 350hp @ the crank dude, dyno reads whp, this is what you're actually putting down on the ground. There's generally 20%-30% drivetrain loss with AWD setups.
What's up with Ford? No stock rear intercooler for the RS is lame. They sell you an AWD car that's really a FWD car under stress. I'm glad the steering wheel was stock.
All that work and only pushing 330?? Put the same amount of money in a Golf R and it'll be riding at 400... That doesn't even include the high octane fuel.
I said the same amount of money... Not the same parts. RS already costs more than the R. Buy R, spend the rest on parts/tune, you have a WAY better vehicle and it doesn't look like a teenagers cartoon dream. Just $900.00 gets you this. So, you be the judge. www.goapr.com/products/apr_exhaust_cast_downpipe_20t_mqb_awd.html
RS looks WAY BETTER and I'm no teenager... Hennesy does a complete tune (only) no mods and get the RS 30awhp more across the power band. Not sure the fuel they tuned it too but most likely 93oct but THIS RS has serious tq gains...wow, very impressive!
Our final number were 350/390 on our dyno. I won't even get into the typical number game and variations of dynos. I can tell you other tuners that are famous for e-tunes, don't put down anywhere near what they claim.
Dyno pulls from another RS with similar mods but running E30: ruclips.net/video/uIjDTyulisU/видео.html
Seems like the issue is the bore/stroke. Needs more bore and less stroke or else its gonna just keep making low end torque, likely what Ford was going for with the car to begin with. Cool to see how fast you guys have started modding one. Keep the videos coming!
It is an under square engine (meaning higher stroke than bore). As Carol Shelby once said, "horsepower sells cars. Torque wins races." 😁
Love the sound of a dyno in the morning!
+T-WRX the crips high octane fuel smelling sweet in the air.
yo what's the name of the song you used in this vid????????
help me feat Tibe
I didn't like white on the RS before.... now it's growing on me. Hopefully I decide before I order mine. Current choice is nitrous blue
Just got my RS a few weeks ago here in Australia. Keep up the great videos Blake!
+Neal Krempin Congrats! Now it's time to pump up the power!!
Australia? They take your drift button away yet?
Gotta drive around on that 104 boost for about 20 miles so it kicks in. Just adding it to the tank on the dyno is not going to get the fuel into the system, you need see miles with that fuel mixing.
we have 93/110/and E85 on pump where im at!
sweet. i'll be doing e85 on my car soon. y because f pump gas. even 93 sucks lol
+HyperBlue STI Corn yummy!!
Fords LOVE E85...
e85 isn't pump gas?
Depends where you live...lol We have a lot of stations with E85 but it is not regular pump gas...one is made from fossil fuels and the other corn...
E85 is not considered pump gas.
Good video Blake, maybe you can come out when I have another run on the dyno. Another car review? Haha
What kind of wheel and tire setup are you using? It looks nice and it looks like it would be good for track. Are you're using either a different offset or a spacer? I'd like to replicate that look. Can you tell me the specs of your wheel setup? Thanks in advance!
good video dude. loving that sound of gun shots
+vagueaxis haha you know it! Sounds so good when it pops off.
Not at all surprised at the results of the cooler. Not sure why the dude was adamant you'd see a significant increase on 91/single run pull.
+Bestwick1983 we did multiple pulls I cut those out because it would be boring.
We are looking at an auxiliary fuel kit to run full E85.
Damn good numbers i know this car can make 500hp with a turbo upgrade hell the ecoboost mustang with a VTT turbo
Quick question let's say you plug in your acessport and download the tune you want if you unplug it do you lose the tune? (I'm worried about someone stealing my port that's why I'm asking)
No, the tune is married to your ecu.
Matt B Nah man, once you flash the tune on your ECU it will stay on your ECU until you decide to flash another tune or go back to stock tune. Most people leave their accessport plugged in while driving so they can take logs on the fly, or monitor things such as feedback knock/dam/afr

We did it in FWD we disconnected the RDU for all of the pulls. Its just a AWD Mustang dyno.
Oh, linked rollers cool.
I'm really considering the intercooler upgrade, super bummed u guys didn't post a graph of the new temps
Trust me, it's worth it. Should be the first thing you do
Decent video, I'm in the uk and ordered mine last month, still await a build date tho, I see you have also changed your wheels, they look very small.
18x8.5 with a 255/35 tire. The overall diameter are very close between the two.
Was the race gas pull done only with the front wheels? I saw the pull with 91 gas had all 4 going.
How the heck are you guys doing an awd dyno? I've heard you can but it'll confuse the ecu and is recognized mended to do just the frt wheels.
nice results good luck at track day!
+boost4lyfe thanks!
hey i'm looking for a tuner in the San Bernardino area in SoCal, you got any suggestions?
1000cc injectors and e85 will do the trick
Are you going to use E85 anytime some?
where did you guys get the fuel from
Shouldn't the car be dyno'd in front wheel drive (dyno mode) only ? Thats probably why the numbers are off.
pre-ordered my RS. Looking forward to modding it in the future too (probably when warranty runs out). Would you guys recommend catch-can?
+pr0jectSkyneT Make sure to subscribe I will have a video on that in the next few weeks.
i've been subbed for a while my friend. Keep up the good work! Love your vids!
sounds awesome
are those 18 inch or 19 inch rims?
Intercoolers don't add power. They just help keep what's naturally there stock, that dissipates under heat.
You have more power. It’s reading low because you are running it in 4wd. You have to put it in dyno mode so it stays in only fwd for the dyno. The diff freaks out on the dyno so you have to have it in dyno mode otherwise it will read low
What tires are on it
What is the brand of your intercooler?
ETS
that exhaust will trigger people and get reports of active shooter in California! smfh... but sweet car.
name of first song???
these come with twinscroll turbos right?
Correct
Even the Focus ST has twin scroll. It's nice.
Steven Reedholm pretty sure the st is twin scroll too
Matt McGhee definately not 2.3L eco is the only one that is twin scroll, last guy posted deleted his comment after he went and looked it up. Go research and turn that pretty sure into an actually answer.
song please.........
No video of the autocross? how did the car do?
Was flawless at Thunderhill! Not a single issue.
Awesome. Glad to hear it. Didn't know if we were going to get to see some of it.
You guys will. We aren't done with the stuff that's going into this car. We just have had other priorities with SEMA coming up
song please!
Yuuuusssssssass!!!!!! 😍😍😍
+NinjaxBart Powweeeeerrrr!!!!!
That's a RS2?
What brand/size wheels are on the car?
Rays 57DR 18x8.5 +38
badams0311 Thank you!!!
turbo having a hard time fulling up the ic so u lost low end.
LOLWUT
lol
badams0311 Sorry u dont understand lmfao
Yea you're probably right. I really have no idea how any of this works. Even though I'm sitting here staring at the overlays. Pretty funny to say the least.
badams0311 I didn´t really to much about anything until i started building my 500hp si I have now.
tire looks like BF Good wrench?

Thx

EX1Z06 Just realize how I spelled it..... LOL. Thanks dude
what tires are those?

Y'all should make a custom hood w ram air for that car
Gotta go e85 mate :3
now were talkin
I tough this car came from the factory with 350hp ????
Marco Hernandez 350hp @ the crank dude, dyno reads whp, this is what you're actually putting down on the ground. There's generally 20%-30% drivetrain loss with AWD setups.

I hate the fake pops
lmao u guys are funnt
not to bash him but his tuning sucks a lot of tuners are way beyond 380 whp on this type of setup

Proper dyno is hood closed. CAI's don't do crap for power either, folks. Speed shops sell this bs and everyone believes it.
Pretty much my upgrade path - minus the douche woosh. Getting too old for that. LOL.
+Russell Lee hahaha!!!!
DOUCHE WOOOOSH
Not going to lie - had one on my Evo VIII back in the day!
Close that hood on the dyno guys. You dont drive open hood, why dyno that way.
To cool the car. This is how you always dyno a car.
CALIFORNIA GAS SUCKS !!
AND THE MOST EXPENSIVE IN THE NATION ! So CALIFORNIA GAS SUCKS DOUBLE
