  • At Grown.Bio, based in the Netherlands, we grow material out of mycelium and rest-streams.
    Mycelium is the root structure of mushrooms. Our product is biodegradable, produced CO2 negative and results in a light and elegant composite that is suitable for packaging, insulation or interior design.
    Mycelium packaging is a new, innovative way of packing your products in a sustainable way.
    We believe it is important to work together with nature, and by using mycelium, we create natural biobased products that add value to your (business) identity.

    Hello, I am an architectural technology student. I thought this project really interesting. I want to do some study on mycelium, and I want to cultivate some sawdust. Can you recommend any mycelium that I can purchase?

  • @kinzieconrad105
    @kinzieconrad105 2 года назад +4

    FYI for all you folks out there mycelium breaths O2 and exhales CO2. At best you can say it is carbon neutral for it carbon locks while breathing O2. You also have to remember that the mycelium gets most of its structure building material from the substrate you are colonizing. Yes this is green just not as green as they want you to think it is.

      mycelium breaths CO2 and with the help of hemp it stores this CO2

  • @jaredoconnor4523

    Really cool composites. How does mycelium composite remove CO2 from atmosphere? Mushrooms breath oxygen and release CO2. Are you measuring relative to some industrial composite?

    • @grownbio2760
      @grownbio2760  3 года назад +9

      Good question! Actually it is the substrate, based on hemp, that stored CO2 during the growth process of the plant. As the plant is stored in the composite, bound together by mycelium, it actually stored CO2 ;)

    • @grownbio2760
      @grownbio2760  3 года назад +5

      Mycelium is hydrophobic. So water does not directly perforate the material. However, if it is exposed continuously to water, it will indeed become soft at some point. But there are solutions for this, like biobased coatings!

      I would probably try Agricon or Chaka maybe Rishie or turkey tails. Think the more Woody the shroom the better. But absolutely not amadoo cause that mushie is hella flammable. Also once you start cultures you just start separate culturing aggressive mycelium.
