This took way to long to do, but was a really fun ride. Lots of fun characters, the thumbnail has a few of the characters that stood out for me. I also hear this game has some awesome worldbuilding, so that has me VERY excited. Don't get too excited because I still got A LOT of star rail and other games to get through before Genshin will start.
This was from the playlist on the official channel, and I'm pretty sure some characters are missing, but I guess that's cause they weren't "demos". I'm sure some genshin fans will let me know what's up.

Seriously, unexpected anime references, dropping exotic weapon names, noticing pattern with Fontaine mechanics (those dropping swords), naming Emilie steampunk genderswapped Kaveh (that was a running joke when she came out since Kaveh was missing from the banners for ages).

Do note that GI was released before HSR, so "HSR character" coded is more like they are "GI character" coded. I've been playing all HYV games (except HI3) since their respective launches and whenever a character that is similar to GI is released, people say, "its like X character."
@mark9152 yeah he knows, he makes note of that too. And jokes about how the internet people are gonna love him for doing it. He is just comparing the characters to what he knows, there's nothing wrong with that.

gameplay answers that aren't spoilers!
- characters have very niche kits so a lot of OG characters can still hold their own in the face of new characters (not to mention some of the best support characters come from early game) and artifacts/weapons are constantly being released that help update older characters to do more damage. there are a few hypercarrys/solos in game (think acheron level) but the novelty of them wore off pretty quickly for me. team building just feels more fun but those characters are useful for quick clearing when I need them
- team comp is a thing but not necessary as far as story and overworld fights go! mix and matching elements and positions (dps, buffers, healers, etc) is the fun way to play since it creates all the reactions and some characters were made with certain reactions in mind (although you can use certain artifact sets to force a few of them to specialize in other things) but mono teams also exist. geo, in particular, has a good mono. uhh meta teams and rotations are really only necessary for endgame content
also considering how many hsr characters we share a liking of, i was not surprised to see you interested in all my favorite genshin ones and some of the commentary you made is very funny knowing their lore
if you end up playing later, neat! if not, that's okay too. i just hope the decision is made of your own volition. there's an unfortunately large part of the hsr fanbase that very loudly hates this game and since you attracted that fanbase first, im sure they'll have a lot to say about this.

She grabs Bennett and forces him to throw himself off enemies. "You just need to funnel me more. I can deal more damage with Homa." I can't pull for Homa, I don't have enough primogems. She grabs my credit card. It declines. "Guess this is the end." She grabs Gouba. She says "Gouba, get them." There is no hint of sadness in his eyes. Nothing but pure, no icd pyro application. What a cruel world.

50:31 in Genshin, a lot of characters have specific roles in their niche. So it’s actually quite rare for a character to be power crept, which is something I really appreciate about this game.
Edit: Example: some of the best, most regularly used characters are characters released at launch. To me, this would be unthinkable in some other games where if you don’t keep up with getting new units, you’re screwed. And since Genshin is not a competitive game, there is no reason to keep up with meta UNLESS you WANT to.

I love genshin for that, don’t have to worry about the meta _too_ much unlike some other games I play (cough cough COOKIE RUN KINGDOM.) one update a character is the most broken character in the game and the next they are completely unusable because a character released directly after them is even better somehow. And then there’s genshin where I can clear pretty much anything with a dps charlotte or something and characters from the start of the game are still amazing after 4 years or so

People say ‘X will powercreep Y’ all the time, but it usually ends up being ‘they’re both good in their niche, use whoever is better for this specific situation’. The only times I can truly think of powercreep happening is for some dps characters

Finally done with video... some answers:
Elements on teams: Mono to multiple elements teams are viable, we have "elemental resonance" and even an 8th option.
Type classifications: DPS, sub dps, tank, support, healer in on-field and offfield positions and most characters can be "drivers"... Also many characters have more than one build or way to play different from HSR/ZZZ (an example Baizhu while healer, is used a dps driver too)
Weapons: 5 weapons types wth catalyst being the home of the brawlers usually.
Gameplay movement: light version of MHW mechanics with the heavy mobility/movement of GW2, (crystallization is literally elemental shielding from GW2).
AGE: short or tall... don't think they are children or teens, example Cyno, Tighnari, Alhaitham and Kaveh are near 30 (Tighnari race age as same speed a normal humans), they graduated around the same time with Kaveh being oldest... While Dori actually may have dwarfism (suspected to be 40 years old at her youngest and she is also human)... So yeah it gets crazy nad this is normal age characters.

Excellent video. I really want you to react to all the version trailers but if you plan on playing the game I wouldn’t recommend it if you want to go in unspoiled. Some of them have more story info than others. Top notch’s editing, very funny all of it really added to the video. And I agree with the other commenter providing the attention you paid, I know the bar is in hell sometimes for reactors but this was engaging and enjoyable the whole way through

In the game, having two characters of the same Vision element (Hydro + Hydro, Geo + Geo) in a team triggers something called Elemental Resonance where you get specific bonuses based on the element pairs, for example: two Pyro increases Attack for your team. It is a useful game mechanic for making the most of your damage.
Fun fact: The VAs of Cyno and Alhaitham are cousin-in-laws and all four VAs in Alhaitham's demo played an UNO game together and it was really epic

Kazuha and zhongli are two characters who are used to this day, they rank really high in meta.
There isn't any real powercreep in genshin other than the meme ones (like exploration skills and mining)

Yes, Kinich and Ajaw are voiced by the japanese voice actors for Sasuke and Naruto respectively (also the reason I got him on my asia alt account). I was calling him Genshin Sasuke even before finding out, so that was hilarious xD

Heizou was revolutionary because before him, there was no male catalyst user. Now we have Wanderer, Baizhu, Neuvillette and Wriothesley. He was also the first catalyst user to do hand to hand combat as his moveset, Wriothesley became the second.
Catalysts and other weapons can come in many forms even if it's a certain weapon type, and usually they have lore on why they're like that. Catalysts can be magic books, a swirling ring, or they could be a bell, a magic lamp, or a fan. What makes them catalyst is the fact that characters never hold them, they float alongside. Swords can be rapiers, katana, an umbrella yokai, a metal pipe, a repurposed flute, etc. Claymores (big swords) can be a battle axe or a cardboard toy, while polearms can even be scythes or tridents. Bows can be harps, a commodified fish, or a repurposed magic wand. And yes, everything I listed _is_ a weapon in the game. Even if a character uses a weapon type, their animations might show them fight with something else (Lyney uses a bow but his normal attack animations show he starts throwing cards, Navia uses a claymore but her skill is her Gunbrella and her normal attacks have her hit with her umbrella, etc)

its 2024 and the zhongli and raiden demos still give me chills!! i like how u noticed a similarity in wanderers demo and raidens. i stopped playing genshin around the time fontaine started so a lot of these videos were new for me too. always love watching your reactions!

50:28 A lot of the older characters are still meta today. Heck, there's a group of v1.0 four-star characters that have been and continue to be meta. Bennett, Xiangling, Xingqiu, Fischl, and Sucrose are still relevant. Power creep happens extremely slowly in Genshin. Heck, Hu Tao came out in 1.3 and Arlecchino (4.6) has about the same damage despite being 3 years apart. What separates the characters is their mechanics. Kokomi is still a great healer and Hydro application support. She's been power crept through characters either not needing as much healing for whatever reasons, or by other characters having elemental application plus some other utility.
Given your reaction to Arlecchino's demo, you should definitely check out "The song burning in the embers" animated short. It goes further into her past and is absolutely amazing!
Yeah a lot of dendro characters came out during Sumeru (rainforest/desert region) because it wasn’t a playable element until then.

It's nice to see someone who's already a little familiar with HoYo to get into Genshin :) I haven't seen all of this video, nor even a minute yet, but excited to see your reaction to these trailers. They mean the world to me since this is the game that started my HoYo craze. I play GI, HSR and ZZZ but Genshin will always be number 1 in my heart, thank you for the upload!
@donnyvick A bit of Russian context. "Tsaritsa" is a female ruler or a wife of "tsar" in olden Russia and some Eastern European countries. Basically, queen. "Snezhnaya" is a transliteration of a Russian word meaning "snowy". I am assuming that it's a place ruled by Tsaritsa.

I think it's insane how the quality just SHOOTS up in recent trailers compared to the old ones, i would have NEVER imagined u dropping a genshin video let alone the character trailer reactions, STILL, if youd like to just get some content out u can js react to some of the character teasers or maybe some version trailers, awesome vid btw.
There's not really much power creep in Genshin so even old characters are still good. I still use Hu Tao, who got released on March 2, 2021, and she's still really good. Even characters from version 1.0 like Bennett, Xiangling, and Xingqiu are really good. Actually, some of the newer characters are even weaker than the much older characters. Genshin managed to do it because the gameplay allows for so much potential in variety, unlike in games like HSR for example where the gameplay is turn-based so there's not as much room for variety.

Oh, tip from one dm to another: there are people who isolate the music in the trailers and make looped versions. It's perfect for bg music during games. I always use Cyno's for desert battles!

Dendro, the plant element, didn't come out until two years into the game with Sumeru even though we knew it existed since day one, so they were making up for lost time and half the characters we got were Dendro for the next year.

In the game an elemental vision is required to use elements and a medium is usually required to shape & use this elemental power!
The characters using hands and other uncommon weapons like gloves all weild a catalyst in order to infuse elements in all of their attacks, thus the variety!
Edit: Catalysts are come in many shapes and sizes such as spell books or a floating object of any shape around the user.
They basically hold inscriptions on how to weild the vision's powers

Thank goodness there are no spoiler spoilers in Genshin demos like the star rail ones, otherwise… yeesh, it would be unfortunate. Anyway, 3 HoYo games down, 1 more to go!(for their more popular gacha games) If you do end up playing Genshin, general, make sure to do so at your own pace. Genshin is a lengthy game and is best experienced whenever one feels like it
Didn't expect this, but it's fun seeing your reactions to Genishin trailers. Would be nice to see you play Genishin eventually. Hopefully before the end of the year for you to get far enough in time for experiencing the Lantern rite festival coming late January. In fact there is a 3rd way as well "巫 + 子" "shaman + child"
