  • Universal Audio is expanding its Standard Series modeling microphone lineup with three new releases. The SD-7, SD-5, and SD-3 dynamic modeling microphones are perfect for capturing drums and other instruments, and instantly give you access to many classic microphone emulations.
Watch our First Listen to hear the microphones used on drums, bass, and guitar. We'll walk through each source, do a mini shootout with the new Universal Audio microphones, first without modeling and then cycling through the available models. We've also got the SP-1, SD-1, and SC-1 from the Standard Series to show what they can do.

Great demo! The axis knob set to 180 degrees for the snare examples.

good for the price, but not that impressive for studio microphones...I really need to test this out . Thanks for the video :)

No processing at all. The amps were kept to a fairly reasonable level and the drums were hit really loud.

If they are so good at modeling, why do we need different models? Can't they all sound like eachother?

So, the kick emulations didn't sound bad, but god damn... all of the snare emulations are completely unusable lmfao
