Matthew i believe you are one of only a few elite that do the SRV tone justice....it’s really like listening to Stevie himself...keep on rockin brother✌🏼✌🏽
Congratulations! Sounds great and your playing, as always, is excellent. Your biggest asset in the vintage game is that you're not looking for guitars that are 100% right. You're not afraid of things like a refin, some overspray and a rewound pickup or replaced pot, etc. As much as you love guitars you also look at them as tools and evaluate what you can get out of a guitar despite its "flaws". And those flaws (or modifications) drop the price of a vintage guitar dramatically. Your mindset has afforded you a nice little arsenal of gear. Always a pleasure watching your videos. Thanks.
Mike, you just proved its not about gigs or shows or even showing off. Its all about a guitar you feel and sitting on your couch and expressing whats inside with that guitar. I salute you man, and thank you.
I love when you get a new guitar in the mail and open the box and give the quick overview of what you are seeing. It is priceless. Of course I also like when you put the guitar through the paces. You really are one helluva a guitarist!
So many players neglect the lower register on these guitars. I dont understand that. They have real balls down there. I'm glad you play the ENTIRE neck. shows the real sound of these old beasts!
Beautiful man, just beautiful. I can't think of anything else to say about it 😱🎸 Keep up the good work Matthew You are an inspiration I would love to see you take the pick guard off and have a look inside, I'm sure you will fix the switch to. Peace 😃🎸
That is one of the best sounding strats I have ever heard before. Really has a lot of bass for strat its awesome. The strat has some balls. Like someone else said it sounds thick.
If you could do a video in what you look for when you buy these guitars for all of us, beginners, out there that that would be amazing!!! Keep up the great work Thanks, bro
Another great vintage Strat - this one's got it all goin' on, as-is, right out da case! Mojo Central, baby. (PS - great playing as usual - always enjoy watching... and learning) - Bruce
Just about the time that I am beginning to think this strat has a very nice traditional Texas Blues sound you start playing some SRV. Put a smile on my face and that is a fact. Congrats, quite a nice find there. Peace.
I absolutely LOVE your guitars man, my first guitar was a 1959 Stratocaster, which unfortunately I was kinda scammed out of before I was old enough to know better, I miss her every day. It’s so cool seeing such gorgeous collection of goodness. Keep it up man
Hey man I dig your videos and your playing sounds great. I have to ask though have you ever considered using a power conditioner for your amps? Like a Furman or something to cut down the ground buzz? I have 5 vintage Fender tube amps myself and use strats regularly with no where near that much ground buzz. Could be your outlets or power at you house. A conditoner could potentially help with that. Assuming you have put 3 prong cords on all your amps. Cheers!!! Thanks
Proper fucking cool man! I love the fact that you buy old vintage guitars and try to fix some problems and sell them back on; its not only a good money maker, but also fun and entertaining for you but most of all your youtube viewers. We get to see some awesome guitars on your channel. Luckily, also strats are my favourite guitars and you for sure show your fair share of those! Keep it up bro, every video from your channel that comes up on my feed I look forward to watching. You deserve many more subs than you have, its just a shame not enough people understand texas blues these days
Hi Matthew! I always appreciate your sharing cool items and discoveries. I would like to share something with you and you audience. there is a product called Dupont Bug and Tar remover that I began using in 2012 when I was restoring a 1956 stratocaster. If you are careful, you can use it to remove paint that has been applied OVER original Fender nitrocellulose finishes. I was able to remove 6 layers of enamel paint to reveal a Fender original black finish underneath. In addition to the sound being massively improved, it looks great with all its bumps and bruises, and is more valuable because of the original finish. I hope this is a help to you and anyone else that reads this comment. These old Stratocasters are the Stradivarius violins of our era and should be cherished and preserved IMHO.
Killer strat Matt! I owned two 66 strats and two 64 strats before..66 won it! Everytimes i try to played any 66 strats i've met and it's always sound sooo good!
Matthew Scott nothing wrong with what you’re doing man. I find what you do inspiring. I love the 66 headstock! One day I’ll get a 64 Mustang, that’s my dream 🙏 ✌️
Master built and custom shop strats and tele’s for up in value as well. Of course those 1950’and 60’s are gonna keep going up but I’ve never seen a vintage strat for $5 or$6g’s so I don’t know where your finding these at for that price🤔
That's a super vibey Strat! Nice score. I love the three way switch so hopefully the out of phase positions will work again on that switch. If I'm not gigging the guitar, I'd much rather have fun hunting for the out of phase positions than just swiping over to them on a five way. Enjoy it!
I know you like vintage guitars but have you ever researched whether or not a newly constructed guitar can achieve those same great tones via warmoth, lollar, etc.
Are people still riding you about amp volume?!?! Ugh! That stinks! Now, you've made some excellent remarks about price point. I would still like some form of a '60's Strat, but the pre-CBS ones might be just out of my price range, when I'm ready. A post CBS 60's Strat just doesn't seem like a horrible option. Jeez, if Jimi played them, enough said, I guess!! LOVE these vids, Matthew. I'm anxious to see you play the '68 ('67?) with the new refret job and see where you take it, as well as the other natural Strat with the unusual pickguard wear. Keep them coming, and I will keep watching and liking, Sir!
squier classic vibe 50,s are great,i have the first year 2008,also the guy who taught me has a sunburst 66 and a 64 strat really cool,an very used looking..rich,an warm,an wonderful..and a 57 i think les paul t v special i believe it is,an a houseful of s g,s an other strats etc...
Cool find. Sounds great, especially the neck pup. No trem bar ? Noticed something weird. The bridge is flat on the top, while the claw is way back. Looking forward to see the next video of this very interesting classic baby. Wonder what's going on and happend to this Mojo Strat.
I was born on July 5 1966 and got my first Strat on July 5 1978 for my 12th birthday and have played nothing but Strats ever since. Do you have any idea what month your 66 was made it sounds incredible?☮️🎸
Sounds awesome man!!. Last few months I've started to like gold and shell pink on strats. I'm also having a highway 1 body (which was sold to me as an american series but the sticker fell off the hwy 1 when i removed the pickguard) refinished in a sonic/daphne blue with tortoise shell pickguard bc I jonesed bad for the custom shop you sold a couple yrs back. Damn strat pusher!!! Lol.
Sweet sounding guitar, and the playing is as great as ever. I had that Analogman modded TS for a while, wish I hadn't sold mine, it is probably in my top 3 favourite OD's with Fender amps.
Cool guitar. Paint job is odd but I don’t mind the actual color. I’ve been trying to decide for a while now whether to make my next strat project shoreline gold or Sherwood green. This guitar appears to be a bit of both? Haha
I pulled the trigger on a gold squier strat too. Great minds think alike.
Dude sick😎✌🏻
KingofPho75 Squier is not that bad, maybe put some Texas Specials or CS pups
Matthew i believe you are one of only a few elite that do the SRV tone justice....it’s really like listening to Stevie himself...keep on rockin brother✌🏼✌🏽
That means so much thank you.
I just love this style of playing! You’re amazing!! The vintage guitar emphasize your style perfectly!! 👌
Thank you so mcuh!

Your playing in the opening shot is my favorite this far. Beautiful stuff mate.
Mike, you just proved its not about gigs or shows or even showing off. Its all about a guitar you feel and sitting on your couch and expressing whats inside with that guitar. I salute you man, and thank you.
Thats one of the best strats I've ever heard.
It plays and sounds even better in person. It blew me away when I played it.
I love when you get a new guitar in the mail and open the box and give the quick overview of what you are seeing. It is priceless. Of course I also like when you put the guitar through the paces. You really are one helluva a guitarist!
A *real* transition logo Strat for you this time, even with a big headstock!!! Definitely a keeper.
My buddy bought this Strat from Matthew.
Wow, love that Strat! It's gorgeous, pretty jealous here! Best to you man!
This 60's strat sounds beautiful man, well done, great pure tone,🙏👏👏👏

Came for the guitar, stayed for the abso-fucking-lutely MIND-BLOWING chops. Dude...you rock!
So many players neglect the lower register on these guitars. I dont understand that. They have real balls down there. I'm glad you play the ENTIRE neck. shows the real sound of these old beasts!
Inspiring licks galore; and those funky chords I had forgotten about those extentions, nice
These videos always can make a bad day, a good one. Thanks for that. Cheers
From Boston... Again, another great view! Sweet Strat!
Beautiful man, just beautiful.
I can't think of anything else to say about it 😱🎸
Keep up the good work Matthew
You are an inspiration
I would love to see you take the pick guard off and have a look inside, I'm sure you will fix the switch to.
Peace 😃🎸
Damn god such a tone!! Beautiful guitar and playing!

Looks like the one John Mayer played at Vultures

Sounds killer man. Loving the vids, keep it up!

My favorite guitar in your collection
66 fenders are real sleepers. great guitars. best necks ever. try a 66 jazzmaster neck sometime

Love it! Living vicariously through your purchases!
Matt, you're truly an amazing player. You're goin places.
Awesome Matt《☆》Def getting some good Trower & Hendrix tones with it :*: Now I might have to paint one of my sunburst Mexican Strats gold🤓☻🤠
Man those pickups and that guitar sounds killer :-)

Very kool Matt.... & thankx 4 sharing. Xheers! likd 555
What a sweet guitar. Holy shit! It sounds like it deserves its own name.
I've always wanted a vintage Gold strat!!
Not sure which I enjoy more, you’re tasteful playing or all the great vintage Fender gear!

I’m in love with that funk it has going on man. There’s something different about pickups from that era that really tickles my fancy.

Man I'm jealous, congrats man its a beaut!
Are you constantly browsing Reverb or you just the luckiest SOB alive?
probably both
Yea he have too many vintage guitars.
Always on reverb. Little luck involved too
@ I've bought and traded up for years to get here. Ive also held multiple jobs to pay for this shit. It's something I love doing so I just found a way
Matthew Scott nothing wrong with what you’re doing man. I find what you do inspiring. I love the 66 headstock! One day I’ll get a 64 Mustang, that’s my dream 🙏 ✌️
that guitar sounds great. You've got me wanting to buy a vintage axe....
Nice find! Good luck with it and have fun!
Sounds great, nice find Matthew
Ooooh this one sounds more thicker and innocent in terms of sound and playability. Definitely keep the pickup and play this more often. 👍👍👍
Such a cool guitar and my birth year! Thanks for sharing.
I'd sure be tempted to carefully strip (wet sand?) the DIY paint job. Looks like Sonic, or Daphne blue original finish underneath.
It's so over sanded everything would be gone
Cool! It's much better then modern custom shop. They cannot get that original sound today.
Awesome sounding strat! I don’t know if you’re lucky or everything under your hands plays good! Thank you for all videos man!
“sweet” “interesting” lol😂
Awesome guitar! Great playing too as usual!
Another great find! Congrats man!
Very Cool! Thanks for sharing brother! Be Well Matthew!
Be well my friend😎
Sounds great! You found another gem.
The force is strong in this one...
And the guitar sounds great and awesome as well 😎😂

Yes I would agree my friend😎👌🏻
Love it Matt ! Good find 👊🏻
Thanks steve!!
That is one cool guitar Matt , hope you find sone magic in that Beauty !!
I know you like vintage guitars but have you ever researched whether or not a newly constructed guitar can achieve those same great tones via warmoth, lollar, etc.
You got me into them Les Paul juniors so I bought a 1957 Les Paul junior
W C save your money chief
Nice work. They are special
@@dylanvogel4503 why should he save his money? It's his money
@@dylanvogel4503 save my money for what
I really don't like Gibson's that good I don't like Les Paul's but the junior is a whole nother deal
Got a Dick Dale vibe going on....this is a beast of a guitar. Lmao got that same shirt man. Lol one of my faves...🤘
Wow Matt that thing sounds awesome!!!!!!
I really like your playing and those tones were killer man
Thanks so much🙌🏻🙌🏻
Looking forward to seeing under the hood. I would be tempted to try and rub off the gold paint and see what’s underneath!
Looks and sounds pretty damn good....

Thats a really sweet guitar, and great playing too.

Yeah no trem bar. It's got some weird stuff going on
What kind of trem spring configuration do you find works best;the parallel, the v,the offset lv or does it vary by the guitar?
I cant wait to see what your choice is!The suspense is killin me!😎🤘
Wow it has the right sound Matthew, definitely Jelly...
It sounds beautiful ,I would say that one is a keeper.
Great guitar and great playing

Hey Matt I thought it sounded great lots of tone!
Where do you buy used strat like that and how much did you payed for it? I can not buy a strat where I am now in Greenland.😔
Sweet sounding guitar, and the playing is as great as ever. I had that Analogman modded TS for a while, wish I hadn't sold mine, it is probably in my top 3 favourite OD's with Fender amps.
I like it so far
Incredible playing!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
wow real nice Matt , sounds good
Fantastic sounding guitar.
Nice score dude!!!
Beautiful guitar!! Can you tell me about the pickup of this guitar? Original? Seymour duncan? Lollar or more? Tank you so much 😊
Original 66 I think

Cool guitar. Paint job is odd but I don’t mind the actual color. I’ve been trying to decide for a while now whether to make my next strat project shoreline gold or Sherwood green. This guitar appears to be a bit of both? Haha
Sounds great. The spacing around the neck joint seems a bit too wide.
It's been over sanded every where
Hey Matt, so more or less how many guitars have you been through since you started?
Probably about 30-40 over the past 5 years. Just searching for the right ones you know
