    I wish Vertx would re-do their SOCP a bit... Drop the gimmicky cell phone flap (make it a real pocket w/a zipper), replace the buckle with a Fidlock buckle, use real MMI or Texcel webbing so it doesn't slip, and make that "secret compartment" (the one behind the CCW compartment) have top access with a zipper. Oh- and in the main compartment (where the two stretch pockets are), have velcro for that insert organizer thing. Those changes would make the SOCP absolutely perfect.

    I just got one of the Long Walks "don't-call-it-a-fanny-pack" "waist packs" and I also have a Vertx backpack now as well, I always feel like Vertx gets 75% of the way there but leaves a lot to be desired. I love the 2 liter Long Walks waist pack, fits nearly perfectly; however, I wish i could have the option to wear it as a sling pack if I wanted to, I feel like it's a bit more casual especially in the blue color it doesn't scream "theres a gun in here" it flops forward when I wear it like that, if they had a second position for the straps it would be great. Straps come loose far too easily, they are easy to tighten but they loosen very easily, I'd like to see if I can put a piece of paracord around where the buckle is or something to act as a sort of stopper so it doesn't come loose as easily on its own. The velcro on the inside is great I just wish it had a bit more internal organizers but then again they want you to buy their tactigami inserts for that.

    Good video! Trying to see if either can fill a gap for me in my bag options. I use a Viktos upscale sling for my smaller EDC bag. It is pretty solid overall, I wear it as a sling and not a fanny pack so it doesn't need to be dedicated fanny. I prefer Vertx bags and was thinking of getting the long walks just as a smaller, super light option, but now I am not too sure if that is the move for me. I do like the Vitktos because it doesn't really scream tactical, I just got it in black. There is molle but it is on the side of the pack that faces you so no one is going to see it.

As another dad who’s adapted to off-body edc, I’ve been looking for something reasonably covert and a little larger than my Spiritus Fanny Sack; which I love, I just wish I could carry more than my 43X in. The SCOP has had my attention, but it is almost twice the length of the Spiritus pack. Maybe the Long Walks pack is the middle ground. Just curious how thick the waist strap is? I think these two packs need to make a baby. I have the long walks pack as well and it does come up short in some areas but I think you have to understand its purpose.,its not meant to be tactical. The soccp is a bigger pack and will naturally carry more, could be a good thing or bad thing. For me the long walks is good for the gym or a quick run to the store. The vanquest pack(s) have my interest as well. Great video/review....I think you covered this really well.

    Thanks for the detailed review! Between that lumpy front pocket and those iffy buckles (though you could replace them) I think I'll pass on this. 5.11 makes a few bags you might like- the LV6 and Rapid Waist Bag. I have the latter and like it but the molle might be a pass for some people.

      @thewisebuyguy  Год назад +1

    The 5.11 lv6 is a great "sling" fanny pack. I say sling because the buckle works better for sling style. However with some modification and using standard buckle and velcro organizer from vanquest you can get a real nice setup. I see that you own the lv6 already in another post. I get you and even agree to a point, however I think two issues have need to be discussed.
      First, getting this bag on still sucks compared to other normal clip fanny packs. Second, depending on body type, because the buckle is in front I have had people. I know that when they bend over their buckle comes unclipped, and it falls off. It hasn’t happened to me, but body type seems to be a factor.
      I get the security point of buckle placement but I also haven’t ever seen anyone reporting that their fanny pack got unclipped from their body while they were walking and said person then ran off with their fanny pack. I have seen that with purses and other bags but nothing like a fanny pack. Not saying it’s an invalid point but I don’t know that it’s such a huge security issue that I feel uncomfortable with a buckle in the back… have you seen or heard reports of people getting fanny packs stolen off their body’s? I’d love to see some data on that if you have! Otherwise I totally get your point and agree, but for me it’s not a huge issue. Getting the bag on regularly and having it unclip on someone (for me) would be bigger issues.
      Also, I wonder if some of this could be fixed with just a better buckle system? What do you think?

  • @seth9192

    Is the grab handle possibly for pulling the bag open so you can access your gun quicker and easier on the long walks bag? I just ordered this bag last night because it looks less military style and pretty sure all I edc is a wallet knife keys phone and a Glock 19
