I'm the one who told you about the alarms as soon as I arrived here 😅 You were so glad about the J, and I imagine most of us have to wholeheartedly agree!
Excellent Vids! Such a massive shame them GWEs are gone now but I’m glad they kept the alarms. Did you visit Mount Pleasant again? Because that has new barriers too aswell as alarms.
Mount Pleasant I'm in no rush to re-visit as I am of the opinion it's a shadow of its former self, even if that too was needed. I'll consider popping by if in the area, though.
I had no idea this had happened, and was even more surprised when I read the comments about Mount Pleasant being done too? It seems they've kept the lovely alarm combo that was here though - I couldn't stand another Newgate/E2S installation round here 😂 It's a shame about the barriers at both, but the latter was DEFINITELY due a renewal because of how busy it is. And how the bell had more or less stopped working, giving pedestrians next to no audible warning which I'm fairly sure isn't legal anymore.
Nice one! Dont really like the new barriers tho, they just dont look very good here. And also, that alarm is skipping :( so i dont want that going faulty
They are a pretty noticeable change, but do not affect my opinion of the crossing much even if less iconic than GWE's. The old YO3J alarm has done that in the past (gone quicker)
It isn't at all worth worrying about as it is perfectly audible and has nothing wrong with it. Network Rail are in-undated enough with false reports of that nature.
@@SouthEastLevelCrossings okay but noose Lane level crossing in the West Midlands has a faulty alarm that skips its tone once but it's a bit temperamental sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't

Thanks for such a prompt update video of this crossing, clearly showing the improvements.
Glad you appreciate it 👍 Lower maintentance costs I presume as part of the reason of improvement?
Nice video of the new barriers at Betchworth level crossing in Surrey and good alarm sounds though.
Excellent video as always 👍
I'm now patiently waiting for the new Mount Pleasant Level Crossing video from you now
I've not yet gotten around to that one, and am not in a particular rush to do so. Naturally, I will want to visit if ever nearby again, though!

It had a full upgrade
@ Yeah I know.

@ Ok, fair enough.
Lovely vid keep up the good work

1:05 skipping alarm and slower alarm!!! Noooo! the GWE barriers!!! New wigwag too!
nice one caleb!
Nice video Caleb! Shame the gwes is gone
At least they aren’t Newgate!
Hi, could you possibly get a close shot of the skirts when lowering and raising?
I will consider your suggestion. I do personally prefer keeping more of the crossing in view, but may try that out time to time 👍
@SouthEastLevelCrossings Hi, Thank You for the reply an considering my request.
RIP GWE 4th gens :(
But great video!
It is a shame about their loss, but they'd been in for 47 years!

@@SouthEastLevelCrossingsthis time it's the quickest it's probably ever been which means it could be on its last legs :(
Expected. Knew it wouldn't be long after the thin wigwag was installed. Not sure why they haven't bothered to replace that old alarm, though...
why would they replace a perfectly good working alarm
There's nothing wrong with that old alarm 🤦♂️
This isn't to spark controversy. The alarm is still making an audible sound, which won't trigger NR to replace the alarm unless faulty.
It's not dodgy 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

They put new barriers in but they didn't replace that alarm
Well, that's because it works perfectly fine! It only seems to go quicker during cold and damp conditions
but it sounded faulty
@rpgllcphones7356 Unusual and uneven, yes. Faulty, no. It's perfectly audible and perfectly does what it is supposed to.

Nice one shame it's been upgraded now 😭
