Hello! Jesse here, thanks for checking out this video, it’s taken me 4 months to put this one together. The concept, the research, and the script and then the Adobe project build! I hope you enjoy 😊 I’m always looking for other topic ideas or research projects so feel free to comment or send me a message! Thanks again - Jesse
Nice Video! I always liked the Corner Boxes! No one else did that when I started reading Comics( as a Kid in Germany in the late 60s/ early 70s) and they were a part of what made Marvel Comic Books so special!
Hey Holger! Thanks for watching - I agree they were always so cool and it was part of what a comic book "feel" like a comic book. You'd KNOW you were holding a marvel comic if it had that box in the top left corner
Hi Jesse. Loved this. I have a question if you'd be so kind. I appreciate what you say about tiny changes to 'trade dress'. This is a question about the code number that appears alongside the corner box (and later in the UPC) for over 30 years. Do you have any idea what it is & what it's for? It appears on Marvel & DC comics around June 1971 and is there constantly until about 2003. It seems to be a feature of newsstand distribution as it is not on the direct editions. To be clear what I'm referring to, if I stop your video at 2,26, you show DD #101 with the date of July and under it the number 02459, next to it is Thor 200, with the cover month of July and under that is the number 02450. It's these 5 digit numbers I'm curious about. They (usually) do not change from issue to issue - so they are specific to the series/title. They appear on both Marvel and DC, so they are not specific to IND or Curtis, but they do seem specific to newsstand editions. Would love to know. Thank you for the great video.
