This was one of 2 tank farms one also in Passaic. It use to be a home heating oil co. They use to get their oil from a barge, I think it closed late 80s. I want say costal oil was the name of the company, not sure? The one in Passaic closed in the mid 90s

I worked EMS in Newark starting around 1980. I remember seeing that tunnel all lit up but I never knew what was at the other end. I'd drive past it on my way to calls at the Walsh Homes or on Route 21. I think the cemetary is on the other side but if there was bus service to the industries there it's possible there was a bus stop over there.
It's a shame how the area has been left to blight and how human beings are filthy creatures.

Yes, make more like this one! I grew up in Bayonne, (has old Navy depot) Jersey City (old paper mill). Must be lots there to find around there. I don't think those are oil refineries in your video, maybe oil storage tanks, the refineries were seen by the turnpike, very big, near Newark. What caused the awful smell in Seacusus, btw? What is left of the Meadowlands? Must be lots of stuff to explore in the area. Thanks! Love the accent.

Hey Joe great video! Thanks for posting this. I do have a suggestion. I am a truck driver from the south and occasionally end up with deliveries in your neck of the woods. There's always a certain amount of anxiety when going into the north east with a big rig because of the amount of traffic and restricted routes that can make it difficult to traverse. Do you know of any areas that are common to frequent truckers ending up where they shouldn't be? Or perhaps better routes for 18 wheelers that don't get utilized enough? Knowing such things could really save a lot of headaches for drivers and the mess that can often ensue when trucks go down roads they shouldn't go. Just a thought. Stay safe and rock on!
