Yes, I do, my mother worked for Two Guys in Kearny, NJ. Two Guys got deliveries via Train. Train tracks were in back of the store. Those tracks fell into the river. And part of the old Two Guys building did too. Anyone recall what the Two Guys from Harrison wanted to originally wanted to name their new store? Remember they worked in the RCA factory in Harrison (4th street now Frank E. Rogers Blvd) RCA would discount scratched and slightly lightly damaged merch. First to the employees. Then if they can't sell it to them then it to the public.
East Brunswick 2 Guys/ Mom was shopping with a 3 & 4 year old in the cart. When she got up to the register, the 4 year old had in his hand a manican's hand. She had to go find the manican with the missing hand
Good old Caldor department store. Caldor and Bradless were the best department stores, until Walmart came and ran them out of town with all their cheap made in China stuff. Caldor was my first job when I was 16 and in high school. Fond memories of that place.

@@carspiv Yes they did. My grandparents in Clifton used to always have a large can of chips and one of pretzels in the kitchen closet pantry. As preteens we would sit out on the breezeway that was between the main portion of the house and the garage eating Charles Chips and drinking Cokes. Pete the Mailman would come by on his route and in the summer time he would always get an ice cold tall glass of sweet tea and in the winter a large mug of hot chocolate. Their house was in the Robinhood Rd. area off of Rt. 46. It was an older neighborhood of mainly retirees.
I had been to that Woolworth in Audubon when I was a kid. I’m 42 now. I think they closed it in the late 80s or early 90s. There’s a Walmart and a Pep Boys and a bunch of other stores and restaurants there now.
Hi... and a BIG "thank you" for the video. I especially love the photo of my grandfather (John Antonik) and his merry-go-round at 1:05-:06. The video has me and my siblings corresponding and trying to figure out the date the photo was taken. The comments below are from my older sister Kitty. I believe the photo was taken in 1957 and that the little girl in the center is indeed our younger sister Mary. Mary also thinks it is a photo of her. It was taken in Belleville, NJ most likely in front of my grandparents house at 133 Ralph Street. I also remember many of the other places pictured in the video. I left NJ 21 years ago and now live in Wyoming. Thanks for the memories. (Irene Antonik Ward)

Having grown up in Brick, NJ in the 70's there are a lot of stores that I remember--Two Guys (extremely busy on Sundays because Monmouth County still had "Blue Laws" so people would come down to Brick to shop--and my father worked there for a short while), Bambergers (got a lot of back to school clothing there), Rickel's, Wetsons (loved their burgers), Burger Chef, just to name a few. So many more stores I remember which were not shown (obviously, you can't cover them all!). Does anyone remember Britt's department store (the go-to place for Boy Scout stuff), or Steinbach's, or H.L. Green's (all of which were in Brick Plaza)? How about Glen Rock Lumber (father worked there for a short while), or Geno's (or was it Gino's) burgers (they sold Kentucky Fried Chicken--back where it was still good), or Bonanza steak house? Thanks for the memories.
Sean - I still have a quality leather belt i bought in Steinbach's circa 1976. It doesn't fit me now, but I could still wear it today if i lost weight. My grandmother loved Britts. If you're as old as i am you probably remember the "Dutch Hut" hamburger joint across Brick Blvd from that location. I remember enjoying those hamburgers and fries a lot.
Hi, its driving me crazy. There was a gay sauna private club in Brick where I believe a mafia guy was shot outside. Do you remember the name of it? Believe late 70s early 80s
There was a Wetson's in Elizabeth on Rahway Ave. for many years starting in the early 60's. We would go there to get our "Super burgers" and fries and by the time we got home there would nearly always be a HUGE oily stain at the bottom of the bag with the contents ready to break through.
Wow! So many places I visited as a kid. My folks were big on variety and exposure and overcoming the fear of strangers and different places. New Jersey was/is a WONDERFUL place to be born and raised. Seashore to mountains, deserts to lakes: Fantastic. Thanks for posting this.

I used to hang out with my friends under Seaside pier as a teen, that was taken by Hurricane Sandy. Used to clime underneath it with my first love, high above the beech and ocean. I was timid, he was wild. I loved him to much...still do. I haven't seen him for about 25years.

I spotted the Wild Mouse roller coaster at Seaside in one of the images too. Although I'm originally a New Yorker, I spent my summer vacations there in the 1950's & 60's. And now those memories live on in an old man's mind out here in Los Angeles. This was a wonderful look back.

The same here, my mother would read a section in the Sunday paper called Jersey jaunts and then we'd all go to wherever it was in our Desoto, she was the navigator and map reader.
My grandparents lived in northern NJ, not far from Route 22, in the New Providence-Westfield-Mountainside area. I loved visiting them, enjoyed watching all the NYC children's programs, I remember Two Guys, Robert Hall & Korvette's (hadn't thought about them in years until I saw this video). I have such happy memories of that area. I remember my grandparents loved a local restaurant, Chu Dynasty, they'd pick up a meal when we visited, also a place called Fairyland (I think), everything was on Route 22, my grandma shopped at Acme Market, I remember something called Echo Plaza and the Flying A gas station. I'm sure there must have been a HoJo's around somewhere--loved their ice cream & fried clams! I was only like 5 or 6 at the time. There was also a local soda shop (not sure it was exactly that but it was a place where teens hung out) called Snuffy's, this was in the early 60s, I'm surprised I can still recall so much.

Thanks for the memories - 1st one shown being Bertrand's Island at Lk Hopatcong! But best 1 is at 1:07 my grandfather, John Antonik & his wonderful merry-go-round w/ metal peg music box that played different songs depending on its position. Father & uncle drove it in the 30s after their high school class days, charging a few cents for a ride. My younger brothers & sisters & I loved to visit Dziadzi ("grandfather" in Polish) & get him to back the merry-go -round out of the old garage that housed it & operate it in the driveway. It wasn't unusual for a few neighborhood kids to come over. I was mostly too old to ride but just loved that music box everytime. Thanks to my brother, Walt for forwarding this link!
+Kitty Antonik Wakfer Thanks so much for letting me know about your Grandfather. Those were great times growing up. I have another video coming out soon about how great it was to be a kid, and how I long for those days. I hope to have it out soon. Look for it on my you tube channel. It's called "A PLACE CALLED HOME". !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I think it's the best song I've ever written. Paul
+Paul Czekaj Thank you very much for including this photo. Do you recall how you came to have it? It was taken in the Belleville area where my grandparents lived (next to a large drycleaning company near the Passaic river - house & yard is now a parking lot :( ), though Dziadzi would take the merry-go-round to nearby towns too. My youngest sister & I are pretty certain that the young girl in the center front is her; she'd be about 5yo & time about 1956. Although we've seen the photo before in the family we're not absolutely certain of its exact location, date or who took it. I checked out your oldest vid - NJ as your home & liked your composition. Look forward to your new one. BTW I like pumping my own gas here in Arizona & everywhere else we've traveled; I don't miss the restriction by law in NJ of doing so.
+Paul Czekaj Just got an email from my youngest brother who's answered the question of how you likely got the photo. Chris sent the "pics to a nostalgia reporter for the Star Ledger several years back in an effort to try to locate the truck." He added that young girl is not likely our sister after a round of deducing w/ man who'd been a youngster living behind my grandparents (who contacted him after article ran) he is in the photo & is same age as my brother, 4 yrs younger than my sister. The pic was probably taken in early 60s making our sister too old to be the dark haired little girl in center.
+Kitty Antonik Wakfer All the kids on my block including me were so thrilled when your grandfather came down our street and we got to give him $.10c to have a ride. We didn't have the money back then to go to a real amusement park. We also would wait to hear "Tops All" ice cream man that came around 7:00 PM. We run out of our house with .25c in our hand to get out favorite ice cream. Oh those were the days. Please look for my new song and video coming out soon. It's called "A PLACE CALLED HOME". It's about how great it was to be a kid, and how we wish we could go back to that happy simpler time. Paul
Thanks for your devotion and dedication to some great memories of New Jersey. It was fun and bittersweet at the same time. I will share this with NJ family and friends. Blessings and appreciation. 🎶👏🏻👸🏻🙏🏻
Yes. I also lived in Whippany and Montville, and enjoyed seeing the Wetsons and Kiddieland photos, as well as Bamberger's, Two Guys and Korvettes, among so many others. :)
I was born and raised in North Jersey in 1946. Born in Paterson, and raised in a small town in northern Passaic County named Wanaque. I remember going to W T Grant in Pompton Lakes. Sort of a general store that had a bit of everything. So many memories from so long ago. I moved to Florida in 1970 and have been here for more than 50 years. But at least I stay warm in the winter now.
It was wonderful watching all the great photos and music of "Old New Jersey". I felt as if I was reliving my childhood. However, I noticed something odd and "out of place" and was wondering if anyone else noticed the same? While the film depicts the many fabulous old photos of New Jersey, inserted at the 1:16 point is a brief video of pre-pubescent children in bathing suits, getting ice cream. It seemed completely out of place. Not only was it an actual video rather than still photos, but it appeared to have taken place in modern times( observe what seems to be a cellphone and more modern apparel.) Also, this is not an ice cream truck from the 60s. I have no clue why this video was inserted as a part what was otherwise, a wonderful trip down memory lane. It just struck me as being somewhat unusual.
Ron Haimowitz - Wow. You're right. It looks like it may be a smart phone 📱 or maybe a wallet in the girl's hand. It is a video, completely INAPPROPRIATE. What kind of a sick perv. Is taking videos of young girls from behind?
The "modern" video of kids buying ice cream fits if you would actually listen to the song. I don't think there is much in the way of photos of kids buying ice cream from a Good Humor truck in the 60's. It is not a preverted video as some would like to infer. It is kids buying ice cream ffs. Now if that commenter NEEDS it to be perverted to satisfy some NEED they have as an individual, then have at it. Other than that, forget about it!

Wow. I'm 66 and grew up in Glen Rock and Upper Saddle River. Seeing Two Guys,Packards (Italian ices were sold right next to the entrance to the liquor dept.) and Bertrands Island really brought back great memories of all the things that made NJ unique. There was racism, poverty, pollution and corruption aplenty . I know that growing up in a white, middle class suburb shielded me from alot of the bad stuff but it was still a great time and place to be a kid. It was a simpler time (for better or worse) when kids were allowed to be kids and the grown-ups lived in there own world. I live in Maine now but a bit of my heart remains in New Jersey. Thank you for posting this video.
I grew up in Haledon just outside Patterson in the early 80s and this literally brought me to tears 😢. My father recently passed away in June and I vividly remember some of these places with him, tho many were already gone by the time I came along. Thank you so much for this video and song. It really touched my heart seeing all this stuff. Brought back so many fond memories.

+Barb Bragger I'm happy it brought back some fond memories. This year I took a day trip "DOWN THE SHORE " to Asbury Park which is starting to come back. My wife made me a liverwurst sandwich with mustard and raw onions on a hard roll, just like my Mom would make me for lunch so many years ago. I put my blanket down right by Convention Hall. I body surfed just like I did as a kid. It was great.!!!!!
Love this!! One of my favorite memories is the sound the little locker doors made on the Good Humor truck - and the man would have to go to different lockers for different items. That sound, along with the date stamper at the library with its double "kluck-kluck" and the wonderful smell of wood at the old library on Washington Ave in Bergenfield, are good memories. And how all the clothes sold at Two Guys smelled like sauerkraut... I don't know how, but one guy selling hot dogs out front managed to get the smell into everything inside the store! My dad loved Casa Hofbrau, so it wasn't our fault it went out of business - the only place you could get red cabbage. Lots of great memories! Thanks!
+Catherine Guldner Thanks Catherine, Yes they were the good old days. They may sound like little things to people now a days, but they were some of our most cherished memories.

Hunka Bunka in Sayreville is still there, it’s name has changed it’s now called the Starland Ballroom now. The club in Sayreville that is gone is Club Bene. Big names played there and Bon Jovi started there.
Joe - I saw Robin Trower at Club Bene' in the late 70s. J. Dewar was still in the band then. Great show, and the place wasn't jammed. I found parking and basically had my choice of seats. Odd thing happened, two girls sat across me at a table, didn't say boo to me nor i to them. They ordered some foo foo drinks, didn't touch them, and bolted before paying. Waitress came to get payed and looked at me, i told the waitress the girls weren't with me, waitress started getting cranky, but i wasnt budging, then a random guy, also across the table, heard the story, pulled out a wad and paid the girl's tab. I'll ever be grateful to him because scene was headed South, and being forced to pay for their drinks would've blown my budget, as i was student and living on my Summer money.

Grew up in Passaic. I remember when the tore up the railroad tracks. Anyone remember Dietches (sp) Farm? And Uncle Floyd! You can take the girl out of NJ but . . .
I was on the set of Uncle Floyd when a guy named Dale Oprandy appeared on an episode. Oprandy was a Harry Houdini escape artist act. Also, when I moved from Dumont to Fairlawn they had a magic store on the avenue there in Fairlawn. Uncle Floyd's side kick ran it.(mr.greenjeans) I can't remember his real name but I do remember "snap it pal!"

Thanks for the memories! My car-avatar is a photo of my first car, parked at my parents' home north of Somerville. I'll bet you can find some photos of the Somerville Traffic Circle I drove around during my first 33 years in NJ, as well as the Leaning Tower of Pizza. My folks and I spent lots of summer weekend days at Lake Hopatcong, and I have fond memories of the Chris-Craft speedboat ride and the huge Water Fountain just below the dam... took me years to get big and strong enough to make it through to the railing in the center. 24 years in CA and the last 10 years in NC and I still have tons of memories of good times in NJ. Great song and photos! Thanks, again!
The dentist our family went to during my childhood was on Main Street, Somerville. I had scary memories of driving the Somerville Circle as a new driver in 1972. Yikes!
This is a great trip down nostalgia road. I grew up in Jersey City. Dad used to take us to Two Guys in nearby North Bergen, now Food Bazaar. It and several other Hudson County businesses were shown. However, the only one whose location was identified was the Clam Broth House in Hoboken.

Oh my gosh. Audubon NJ and a photo of the Audubon shopping center. Somehow it's nice to know it hasn't been completely forgotten. I spent many hours there growing up. Sometimes we'd drive there, sometimes we'd walk. It was close enough to do so. Woolworth's had great hot soft pretzels and water ice at the walk up window as well as an indoor restaurant. It's funny the things one remembers. I was about 7, we were waiting in line to turn into the shopping center when, BANG. Somebody rear ended my dad's '63 Chevy Nova.
I remember I went there with my Dad and Uncle when they were auctioning off everything, There wanted to buy the train, They had $ 2,000 it went for $25,000, I will never forget that story.

Channel Lumber, the Capitol Theater, Rickel, Bamberger's, Caldor's, Burger Chef, Packard's, Clam Broth House ..... Got my first credit card at Korvette's to buy a tape recorder back in '64. Boy, can't believe they're all gone. Thanks for finding all these photos.
+Timothy Rea As a matter of fact I can beat that. My friend who lived 3 houses away from me was named "ROBERT HALL". We would kid him all the time that he owned the store. He was very happy that I included the store in my video.
There was a Robert Hall's on Journal Square in Jersey City when the Square was the best place to shop & go to the movies in the 3 big, beautiful theaters there & before it all went downhill. The great theaters were the State, Lowes & The Stanley whose ceiling had beautiful twinkling stars. Lowes is a landmark now & the fabulous Stanley is now Kingdom Hall. so sad all of these great places were replaced by trash.
Anyone remember ‘Two Guys from Harrison’?
I do..!! I was from North Arlington and spent my childhood there. The escalators..!
Not only Two Guys but EJ Korvettes, WT Grant, Alexander’s, Great Eastern, Bambergers and Teppers!
Yep. Had a Two Guys just up the street,on Paterson Plank Rd,in North Bergen.

I remember getting Brookdale soda. You choose any flavor n put it in a case and they were large glass bottles.
Charles Chips used to home deliver, right?
Mike Dunham Yes, memories of my father taking me there with the empty bottles and getting a fresh case of mixed....

Hi... and a BIG "thank you" for the video.

I remember most of these places that were part of growing up in New Jersey.
@@richmonroe203 - It was "The Egyptian".
@@cmans79tr7 Thank you! You know it had to be mafia for a place like that to be in Brick.
There was a Wetson's in Elizabeth on Rahway Ave. for many years starting in the early 60's. We would go there to get our "Super burgers" and fries and by the time we got home there would nearly always be a HUGE oily stain at the bottom of the bag with the contents ready to break through.
So many memories. I worked at Korvettes, lived in Ramsey not far from the drive-in, bought stuff from Rickles. 2 Guys, Bambergers, etc. Thanx.
Wow! So many places I visited as a kid. My folks were big on variety and exposure and overcoming the fear of strangers and different places. New Jersey was/is a WONDERFUL place to be born and raised. Seashore to mountains, deserts to lakes: Fantastic. Thanks for posting this.

Chris sent the "pics to a nostalgia reporter for the Star Ledger several years back in an effort to try to locate the truck."
He added that young girl is not likely our sister after a round of deducing w/ man who'd been a youngster living behind my grandparents (who contacted him after article ran) he is in the photo & is same age as my brother, 4 yrs younger than my sister.
Paul

Yes. I also lived in Whippany and Montville, and enjoyed seeing the Wetsons and Kiddieland photos, as well as Bamberger's, Two Guys and Korvettes, among so many others. :)
That was great! I remember a lot of those places while growing up in the greatest state in the USA!
TRUE.
Big Stash, Rustlers, nostalgia overload. I would give this a million thumbs up if I could.

RememberPalisades Park, Asbury Park, the good ole diners ( loved the tuna plates} and so much more!!!! Life was good!!!

Was the Robert Hall on Rt 22 in Watchung? I grew up in Linden and Watchung.
There was on in North Arlington . It's a CVS now. At least it was in 2012.
I'll ever be grateful to him because scene was headed South, and being forced to pay for their drinks would've blown my budget, as i was student and living on my Summer money.
wow I remember lots of those places...crazy eddie his prices are....
+Cathy Ywaski INSANE!
and a little stock manipulation by "crazy" eddie antar and....jail!

Grew up in Passaic. I remember when the tore up the railroad tracks. Anyone remember Dietches (sp) Farm? And Uncle Floyd! You can take the girl out of NJ but . . .
Floyd is somewhere here on the tubes with a vid of him interviewing people on the street in Bloomfield, asking simple questions.. He is a riot.
@USS Pandumbic What was his name. He had dark hair, a beard and was over weight?
@USS Pandumbic It was the infamous Scott Gordon. He was the owner of the magic shop! If you search U tube you can find a lot of interesting interviews and gems from the cast of the show . I just found a clip of Loony Ship Rooney.Giant bow tie and top hat. lol
@USS Pandumbic Yes we are but keep it a secrete OK?
Thanks for the memories I grew up in Belleville

I remember most of those places but you left out Grand Way and the Grand Union building in Elmwood Park, Bradlee's in Saddle Brook, The Old Mill in Paramus, Lee's Hawaiian Islander in Clifton, Alexander's in Paramus, and McRory's in Passaic. I grew up in Garfield, but when I left NJ, it seems like everyone else did too.

GREAT ! I worked at the Port Authority bus terminal-gave out bus information how to get to places in New Jersey..GREAT HISTORY
Pal's Cabin was a gigantic loss to many!
Some of the stores that have disappeared where I used to shop for myself are Debs, Ormonds, Marianne's, Fashion Bug, Star Fashions

So many memories of growing up in Jersey. Thanks for making this.
The Final Exam, Mothers, The Meadowbook... ♫♪ Great Fun!
Lake Hopatcong had some great clubs, too .. The Lighthouse, Governor's...
+Dora E. H. Crow I had gone to all the clubs you mentioned Dora. Those were the days. !!!!!!!
+Paul Czekaj NY had some fun clubs, too! Red Parrot, Palladium, Studio 54 - mostly DJs, except Red Parrot also had a big band orchestra.
Back to NJ - Montego Bay in Belmar was a lot of fun, too!
Great video, FWIW that brown Pabst Blue Ribbon @ 0:20 was actually a green Hoffman soda bottle back in the day. What I really miss is Olympic Park. As a kid I could walk there from my house. Great times gone forever. :(
Never been there but would like to some day..I feel like new and improved is not always for the betterment of mankind. We have so many places that have vanished thru the years, here today and gone tomorrow:( Sad but glad someone is posting the video's so everyone can remember.

Thanks for including my neighborhood soft drink beverage company. But the Claremont Diner is missing!
Best chees cake EVER
Thanks +Paul Czekaj you brought it all "back home" ;-)
+plusaf dotcom .... and the White Castle "burgers", too!
Leaning Tower of Pizza.....I forgot that one! Somerville Circle....the craziest circle I've EVER seen.
@@Brightstar1001 Now the Somerville Circle is even crazier, lol
The dentist our family went to during my childhood was on Main Street, Somerville.
I had scary memories of driving the Somerville Circle as a new driver in 1972. Yikes!
This is a great trip down nostalgia road. I grew up in Jersey City. Dad used to take us to Two Guys in nearby North Bergen, now Food Bazaar. It and several other Hudson County businesses were shown. However, the only one whose location was identified was the Clam Broth House in Hoboken.

Yesssss, Jersey City(Greenville)....where ever I go I meet someone from JC
@@elmiguel6725 Born and raised there. PS#30 ,Snyder High, Bayonne pool, Roosevelt Stadium, the drive-in, I miss them all. I live in Colorado now but I'll always be a Jersey Girl.
@@joannoneill2531 All roads lead to JC 😉
Thanks now I really feel old
You're in good company.
Yes, Christine- I agree! Most of the places in this video don't exist anymore :-(
You feel old? I lived in NJ from 1946-1953. We moved to CT when I started second grade. I remember a few of those places, though.
Great! Keep them coming
The Meadowbrook, my dancing days.
Remember Chicago's and the Gatehouse and Joey's 🤣💕
Bet you haven't lost a step Joy..... My problem is/was, I never had one.
Does anyone remember StoryLand in Neptune off the Asbury Park traffic circle?
I remember I went there with my Dad and Uncle when they were auctioning off everything, There wanted to buy the train, They had $ 2,000 it went for $25,000, I will never forget that story.
I remember that place it was great! It was always a toss up between Storyland or Asbury Boardwalk and play miniature golf! Great times!
Loved Storyland- I remember begging my parents to take me there, as a small child....I’ll never forget the fun it was!
How in the world did they miss Steel Pier,Atlantic City NJ
And “Mr. Peanut” - the shop that we always went in to get a great supply of candy and nuts!
I didn't miss Atlantic City. It's in my other videos about N J. Please check out my other Jersey videos called My Home New Jersey parts 1 and 2. It has tons of places and things about Jersey. Also At The Beach. 95% of the pictures were down the Jersey shore. Please share the video with your friends. Paul Czekaj
I remember Robert Hall's. Anyone beat that?
+Timothy Rea As a matter of fact I can beat that. My friend who lived 3 houses away from me was named "ROBERT HALL". We would kid him all the time that he owned the store. He was very happy that I included the store in my video.
Paul, you must be an old guy as well.
+Timothy Rea I remember Robert Hall's. They had one in Westchester, NY also.
Mine was in Evansville, IN.
Brings back great memories, left a smile on my face and brought joyous tears from my eyes
I miss palisades amusement park 😭😭😭
Miss the Wagon Wheel and all those joints in Keansburg!
