The last day dawns on the Kingdom of Ascalon. It arrives with no fanfare, no tolling of alarms. Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze. People carry on with their daily lives, unaware that in a short while . . . Everything they have ever known will come to an end.
One day it was the last day that I played and I never knew it :( If I wasn't sad before I am now :S This game was so much for me in my younger years, helped with so many things in my life at that time. Haven't been dedicated to a game like I was with Guild Wars since. Man, talk about a nostalgia punch to the face!
pre searing is easily one of, if not, my favorite place(s) in guild wars. it's so beloved by players that we make alts specifically to have them live forever in pre.
My cousin and I have some characters still in pre-searing for that very reason. We've even come across level 20 characters there! That takes some serious dedication.
What would I give to be a kid again, with no responsibilities and time on hand, just pulling a horde of enemies and AOE-ing them down, or just exploring this wonderful world with the eyes and interests of a kid.
Thank you for this flashback, I see myself again at 14 years old, starting to make my first character, this little tank. 😊 This game marked my life as a gamer and even my life irl, I remember at the time when I played outside, I always had this music with me in my head with the nature of Corsica 🥲
I had over 10,000 hrs into this game. I still have a character sitting in pre just for the ambiance. The game actually still has quite a few players in the major cities. I'm glad to see it's still up and running :)
Damn it feels like 2005-2006 were yesterday. I played many years, stopped and came back a few times. I was never one of those top players who figures everything but I had very good times. Made good friends...
I use to run people through dungeons all the time but never could get a character to lvl 20 in pre searing. Hearing this brought tears to my eyes though.
When I listen to this I can feel the sense of wonder and awe - my eyes widening when I first walked into wizard's folly, the deep sense of the world being endless and expansive and feeling so present in the world I could almost feel the environment in real time. Makes me feel 14 again - it was the first mmo I fell in love with
My first character on my dad’s account @ 13! A little(no seriously I’m short so I made her as short as possible) Ranger/Necromancer! I bought my charm and comfort animal skills so my first pet was a wolf instead of the cat and I kept it the entire Prophecies run!
Finding out about your channel made me go on a nostalgia trip. I remember getting Guild Wars at the hypermarket as a kid with my brothers. I have so many fond memories of this game. Jeremy Soule really captured its magic perfectly. It must have taken you a lot of times to put up these videos. Thank you a lot !
There's a few projects and I've downloaded one years ago and had a look at it, but I can't remember the project's name nor do I have a link for you, sorry. It was just too long ago. But recreating GW1 from scratch using Unreal Engine 5 would be such a dream. And a team of fans could very well do it...
Hello Sandra, I found your channel today and I wanted to say thanks! I've been dealing with some mental issues lately and your content turned out to be really good for my relaxing exercises. You can tell in a minute that these videos have a lot of love invested into them, from the audio and images to the bits of context in every description.
@@Paradise7D Especially pre-Searing (we used to call it "Eden" in french), was such a special, distinct, peaceful and beautiful place. It was somehow "different" from the game, and could have been a total different game now I think about it with its own lore... I remember getting lost in the catacombs for hours, admiring the tiny details (the stained-glasses for example). If I had to describe pre-Searing in a few words, it felt like a "safe place", far from daily real-life worries and anxieties.
My sympathies! You have 28 chars? Congrats! I have 28 too, two of them in pre-Searing, and one is a "placeholder" ready to be deleted and replaced should the necessity arise. Pity you can't go back to pre-Searing... they should really program it so you can enter your own copy of pre-Searing whenever you want. That would be sooo lovely...
I miss original Lion's Arch so much. The music from Cursed Shore and those zones is particularly haunting and lovely. Thanks for putting this together.
It's GWToolbox++. You can use it (for example) to unlock the camera and freely explore GW1 maps with it. And you can set the camera speed down to the sixth decimal which is perfect for ambience videos :P You can create very precise scenes with this, nothing's left to chance.
I admit I had to search quite some time. That was a damn good question of yours! But here it is -- it's one of two pieces missing from the OST, and it apparently has no title. According to the video description, it plays in the Catacombs (and the Crystal Desert!), and as a general ambience track. ruclips.net/video/b0KNLYpLFcc/видео.html

@@ovariantrolley2327you can get a steam deck but idk if it’s the same as on PC.
This is where I live every day in my mind.
Guild Wars 1 could have taken place entirely in Ascalon without any searing and I would have been happy doing mindless quests the whole time.
Same. Especially now since it carries such a nostalgic feeling, even compared to the rest of the game.
there are people who play accounts that never leave pre ascalon. it's called 'perma pre'.

Ascalon, it was once a kingdom surrounded by the beauty of forest trapped in an eternal autumn. But all of that changed when the Searing happened.
Wow..takes me back. I almost want to cry. What happened to my old friend I wonder...
