    “You are where you are, doing what you’re doing.” Soo much beauty in that statement. Freedom.💛 Enjoyed your perspective of your time spent on trail. And those mountains! Magnificent.✨👏

    Rangitata river and mount sunday are one of the most beautiful place in NZ imo. And there is nothing more kiwi than being stuck behind a huge sheep cattle !

    This seems so long ago! That wind must remind you of home!

      It really does! And yes I get flashbacks of Lethbridge whenever the wind picks up 😭

    We ripped across the Rangitata, had at least a week without rain, river was super low and we had live flow updates from upstream via inreach. Still took us around three hours with several hip deep crossings and we were all Cape Reinga starters so were fit and fast as f. If you are in our position it's pretty safe, but can definitely see how it could be REALLY dangerous.

      The thing is that it’s not part of the TA and the Te Araroa trust advises against it. I would rather respect the country that I’m visiting than try to prove a point by crossing a river that’s completely unnecessary.

    Really glad you decided not to cross the river, the Rakaia and Rangitata have a long (150+ year) history of people drowning even at lower flows.

      Exactly- wasn’t worth bothering honestly!

    I kept hoping to see the river! Did you take any photos of it? Did you drive over it on a bridge?

      My phone ran out of storage 😭🫠🤦🏼‍♀️ you have to drive about 45 mins to get to a bridge to cross it!

    How many people are with you or behind you going Sobo?

    • @LaurenRoerick
      @LaurenRoerick  6 месяцев назад

      I’m not sure about people going sobo. I went NOBO and there weren’t too many people I ran into going that way. I was with a nice little group of 5 for a while which was fun!
      But I did encounter 100 sobos in a day along the trail a couple times. So there are many more going that direction!
