I know you don't mind solo hiking but what a great time having two people along to entertain you, help film, and keep you going when it's raining and cold!!!
Absolutely! I was very glad to do this with those two, and so nice to have some help filming it- I never would have gotten so much footage without them!
Perfect time to be down to one pole! Not dangerous at all... note to self: don't let your mom see this episode! Those ridges were insane and that Goblin Forest? Come on!
Goblin forest in snow is something else. Glad you guys are all good never underestimate NZ s crazy changable weather. And nice footage. Capture the Tararuas vibe beautifully.
What a section to hike! I'd be on all fours dragging my pack on those slopes. The WIND!! Great to see you all made it with a smile on your face. Happy hiking and thanks for taking us along on your "detour" hike.
I was definitely crawling in some sections when the drop offs on each side got too steep! There were more than I few times I slipped and fell as well. It was treacherous out there! Glad you enjoyed coming along for the ride.
Wow that was so good. One of my favorite episodes. Some sketchy shit right there, plus awesome and beautiful as well. Always good to see Elmo pop up as well 😆. Great team effort too. Good job girl!
Wow, that alternante route was really beautiful until the winds and the rain hit. I'm glad yall made it through ok. Such crazy weather yall have gone through. Great video. I'm glad the hypothermia was not to serious
I couldn’t do what you do. Not sure if I’d want to do what you do. But I love watching you do what you do. Another great video. Stay safe. Happy trails.
That must be a really great and challenging trail to hike on a beautiful day. Of course even more challenging and dangereous on the dat you did it. I'm glad you had a hut at the end and that you decided to stay out there a day. Mother Nature can be in predictable. Good one Lauren! 😊
Thats quite an adventurous detour right through the center of the range but if you've got above average fitness/experience, bit of extra food then its quite worth it. 1 day of fine weather in the Tararua's (thus far) isn't bad; I think in the history of hiking up there literally NO ONE has had fine weather the whole time (or even a lot of the time!)
You can see even in the north it can turn. North of there the police sgt in charge of search and rescue was organising some training in hills for manawutu staff. He had to be rescued as weather turned on him
@@LaurenRoerick hahaha nice, I live near the Kapapanui road end - and was hoping to see you and the gang to say howdy along your way past 🙃 but nonetheless I hope you like our country!! I really want to go to Canada and to the GDT and the Appalachian in the US. Before you return home please go to a gift shop and take some souvenirs with you so you don't forget your experience! Best wishes to you and the team!
The Tararua Range has a reputation for catching out even the most experienced trampers. Definitely not to be taken lightly, glad you seem to have enjoyed it overall.
And for all those people that watch this and don't leave a Like and Sub and Comment, what are you even doing with your life!?!
Exactly!
Lauren you are The best

Holy Crap!!! Epic side quest!
Totally!!
Glad you made it to that hut. The Tararuas are dangerous, and I'm surprised that you filmed it in those conditions, honestly.
Yep the weather was crazy! Was happy to see the hut for sure :) and I try to share as much as I can of this experience- even the crazy parts!
literally cool footage capture.
Wow.
It's unbelievable .
Glad your all alive, lauren.
Thanks!
And that right there my friends is the Tararuas !! Best video of the Goblin Forrest ever (just magical) 💯👏
Thank you! Glad I was able to capture its magic 🪄
Perfect time to be down to one pole! Not dangerous at all... note to self: don't let your mom see this episode! Those ridges were insane and that Goblin Forest? Come on!
I was really missing that second pole on this stretch 😭 but that goblin forest was so magical
Goblin forest in snow is something else. Glad you guys are all good never underestimate NZ s crazy changable weather. And nice footage. Capture the Tararuas vibe beautifully.
Thank you! This was a very unique section!

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :) I had fun, mostly in hindsight 😅
A particularly wonderful segment, with video sections so well matched with music!
Glad you enjoyed it!

The TA sure has some intense weather! Glad we all made it through in one piece! :)

Thank you! This was a tough section with some crazy curveballs. Glad you enjoyed it
I've done Burtons Track, and the manawatu gorge, the other end of the Tararua's and I want to do this, but in the summer!
Haha yes- I think summer would definitely be better!

Couldn't agree more!
Coucou (Bonjour !! 😊) oh my god so tiny in its huge mountains! With just one stick RIP 😑 Always amazing 😮😊
I was really missing my second hiking stick here!
Music good in the Goblin forest.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Haha so true! They’re notoriously unpredictable

I’m not surprised! The weather is intense through there!
Well done the 3 of you. South Island shallie Rock. North Island muddy bog.
Thanks! It was a real adventure!
Did you walk through Waikanae when you went up Kapakanui?
Yep! A pretty long boring road walk haha

@@David-u3s4l Aw that would have been a fun coincidence! I picked up a few lovely souvenirs to take home with me :) Thanks!!
Excellent
👌🏼
Travelling more than 1km per hour in the Tararua’s is fast 😆
Haha this is what I’ve learned 😅
Blimey!!!
Indeed! 😅
Lauren Roerick-Jupiter!!
Baptsim of fire.
🔥
Is this
Tolkien Lore
Yes!

It sure does! The wind was just crazy!
Isometrics and a "Nalgene Baby" would have kept you ok
You're a super "badass" though. I really appreciate your videos.
Thanks! 😊
When the weather is cold on the trail, smoke cigarettes, they will keep your face warm.
