The whole” The First Wives Club” movie is an hymn against misogyny - and a movie everybody, not just women, needs to watch at least once.
Read the book too. If you think they get even in the movie, they're the sword of vengeance in the book.

All the women leave him, he loses all the money, and he is a bloody mess by the end of it.
Not to mention, the girls get everything they deserve too: an awesome career, a loving family, and a true love.

I love how in that movie, instead of hating on each other the girls bond and become real friends. I wish women did that more in real life! Blame the man who cheats on you not the other ladies he has lied to.
@@jaimicottrill2831 I 100% agree with that.. Especially in the case of this movie how Carly didn't even know he was married and Amber was told that he was getting divorced. They were both lied to and I'm glad Kate trusted them instead of blaming them.

Classic film to add: 9 to 5. The whole get back at the boss plot is brilliant from start to finish, with Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, and Dolly Parton.
How that didn't make the top 10 is crazy! It's the classic movie about defeating misogyny! Talk about an egregious omission. Obviously a list done by millennials. 🙄🙄🙄
That movie was the original "Office Space." I have a fan theory that in 9 to 5, Mr. Tinsworthy already knew more than he was letting on when he transferred Mr. Hart to Brazil. Transferring him and pretending it was a reward was the only way to get rid of a guy like Mr. Hart.
It’s criminal that was left off this list. Fun fact: all the revenge fantasies were based on actual ones that the screenwriter asked some of her friends about.

Mister actually helps Celie and Nettie reunite. Because she told him "until you do right by me, everything you even think about is gonna fail!" My favorite movie!
I was looking for this! He straightened things out with the State Dept. so that Nettie and the children could come back from Africa. So, he DID get what he deserved, but then at the very end he got right with karma.
I was gonna point this out as well! He did the right thing in the end for Celie. And in the book, they actually become friends again (but remain separated)
I am always fond of the way the ladies get back at the devil in "The Witches of Eastwick"
Bombshell is a great movie. Promising young women should have won the Oscars its was way better than nomaland

Most people don’t realize the movie is based off the book. Read it and understood the movie so much more. Love Danny Glover, but hated his character. Gut-and-heart-wrenching with a warm ending.
Billy Jean King was actually very good friends with Bobby Riggs. They spoke very warmly of each other and talked frequently, even shortly before he died

@@edwinacross3452 , yes and no. By that time.. Bobby had already beaten at least two players that actually were seen as better by many than Billie. That sucks.. but it still is historical fact.
@@Panwere36 And let's not forget that Bobby was about a decade past his prime while Billy Jean was near the peak of hers. That had to have helped her tremendously.
@@Farmer_El , yes.. to a degree.. but.. again.. Bobby had beating two players better ranked that Billie.. AND we know now that Bobby and Billie were actually friends in real life. It sucks, but Bobby still retired a legend.. and even many prominent women sided with him no matter how the match turned out.

My number 1 would have gone to Ike Turner for What's Love Got to do With it. The hell and tourment he put Tina in was horrible.
For me the best moment in First Wives Club, is right at the end Annie's daughter turns around to her father and says, "Oh, Daddy. I'm a lesbian. A big one." Then she shuts the door in his face and he is just left speechless 😂😂

The Sanderson Sisters kidnapping Jay and Ernie after the latter makes a sexist remark.
C.C. Bloom punching out the film director after he insults her.
Roger Ailles being fired from Fox News.
The Stepford Husbands being confronted by their no longer obedient wives.
Tommy Korman admitting defeat after Jack parachutes into Betsy's arms.
Billy Angelslov getting poisoned and then brought back to life only to be beaten to death then exorcised.
You think saying something you don't like, is a justification for a kidnapping? Wtf is wrong with you?
The Joey getting his rear end kicked by Bianca scene is also one of my favorites.
Promising Young Woman’s satisfying ending is one of the reasons the film won Best Original Screenplay
That was changed, Cassie gets killed burned and Al gets away with everything in the original script.

I saw Back to the Future at the cinema and the cinema erupted in cheers when George punched Biff. It was a wonderful moment.
Why does Ms. Mojo only reference the US remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo in all of their lists??? The original with Noomi Rapace is the absolute best no matter the language.
Very much agreed. The Swedish version is also more accurate to the books, unsurprisingly. Lisbet in the books are fairly cold and her actions are far more calculated.
You can compare the two movies and see the stark differences in Swedish and American culture. It is quite fascinating to be honest. Though it is quite annoying that the American version basically switched the characterization of Lisbet and Mikael.
Lisbeth was fighting against her guardian/rapist and other sexual abusers. The final original 3rd book, she’s fighting back against the whole guardianship system, placing adults under guardianship, accusing them of being mentally disabled when they weren’t. Spoiler in next comment. . .
Lisbeth’s father was a Russian mobster turned informant for Swedish government. He was protected by the government, who refused to step in when he was abusing his wife and daughters. Lisbeth fought back as a young teenager, almost killing him. She was deemed mentally disabled/ developmental delayed and placed under guardianship, even after becoming an adult. Lisbeth wasn’t disabled, mentally or developmentally, just a little neuro atypical, on the high side of the Spectrum

And why doesn’t she mention Jafar in the 1992 version of Aladdin alongside the 2019 version? This is our preferred way of watching Disney’s Aladdin, plus Jafar wasn’t any less of human garbage in the early 90s Aladdin movies before The King of Thieves!
You should have included Mitch Hiller from Enough (2002), for a long time he hunted down Slim because he always beat her, it was satisfying to see him get what he deserved in the end.

It has ALWAYS been my contention Jennifer Lopez deserved much more recognition for this role than ever received. When I need to feel more powerful, I'll watch it again, especially the ending.

I feel like Hugo and Victor Martinez from Rambo: Last Blood should be up there. I remember when Hugo said that he treats his slaves not like girls but as things. Same thing for Immortan Joe from Mad Max: Fury Road, he too treated his wives like things.
These sexist guys getting their comeuppance proves that there is no place for misogyny and there never will be, especially in this day and age.
Princess Jasmine in live action Aladdin is a badass! I love how she stands up to Jafar.

The original script of Promising Young Woman had no scheduled texts or wedding arrest. Al literally killed Cassie, his friend helped him burn her body and everyone moved on. Screenwriter changed it because she thought it was too dark.

Unfortunately there are tons of misogynist anime characters that are hailed as heroes. Even though they sexualise and prey on women.
I love Ms. Mojo. This one is my favorite of all time. What a collection!. I watched the real Billy Jean King take down Bobby Riggs on the small television set in the basement of my sorority house. While we were screaming and jumping up and down the front doorbell rang. It was the girls from next door who were doing the same. We ended up in the street having a celebration to remember. I am so very glad to have lived long enough to see these movies as well as the reality behind them. The 2017 Woman's March on Washington. That was a day to remember.
The women of today owe the women of your generation a debt, and every generation needs to advance egalitarian ideals further than the previous ever thought imaginable.

The Color Purple is such a beautiful film-but in the book Celie and Mr become friends after their marriage ends. After he sinks really low he ends up bonding with Celie over their love for Shug and even proposes to her again.

I'd like to see a version of the movie that keeps the romantic subtext between Shug Avery and Celie or even makes it explicit. I know they kiss in the movie, but in the book there's so much more. I'd love to see a version of the movie that depicts a love story between two black women, and centers the story around them, because there are few movies centered around LGBT+ people of color.
I was just arguing with people about the many capabilities woman can have against men and talking to a bunch of block heads left me angry. This was something I needed as a trans man regardless woman can be just as good as men in many ways even physically.

One movie misogynist you missed was Jabba the Hutt. In "Return of the Jedi", he takes Leia prisoner and objectifies her by forcing her to wear that skimpy metal bikini. It's EXTREMELY satisfying when Leia kills him by choking him with the very chains he used to enslave her with.

One thing that sticks out is that the Swedish title of the first book/movie is "Men who hates women". The author witnessed a woman he knew get assaulted in his youth and that affected him heavily.
