A short interview with Joe Satriani as he introduces and discusses the new Ibanez ULTRALITE tremolo arm. Check out the features of this innovative product for the Ibanez Edge Tremolo!
This tremolo arm can be used only with Ibanez electric guitars equiped with the following Ibanez original tremolo systems.
Edge / Lo-Pro Edge / Edge-Pro / Edge-Zero / SynchroniZR / ZR-2
It does not fit any tremolo system other than those mentioned above.
On Ibanez guitars that have the screw to tighten it like the Edge zero and ZR , you take the bushing off and it works on those bridges. I have the edge zero and that's how it works for that bridge etc
Thanks man was scratching my head after it didn't fit.
They should have been working on replacing the shitty arm holder system on the edge trems as well, so for me this is completely useless.
Was gonna get one but way to expensive!
wow, biggest bullshit ever seen.... Ibanez is annoying every year more and more.
On my 2500€ Ibanez guitar came the frets out because they where pressing them with a 10-ton press. After 3 years now it needed a refret. Where are the golden times of flawless Ibbys for a fair price? Glad having an old RG550 which still works perfectly. I'll definitely buy no more Ibanez which came out the last years. Too much production and hype in here.
Now all I need is a guitar with a floating trem :D
Is there anyway I can get this for a "lefty" RG550?
There is a sponge feeling to tremolo arms, but your technique must be advanced enough to notice a difference. This ut arm is thicker and does in fact correct the slight loss of control from advanced use of the regular arm. It is an improvement. Try it, if your a skilled bar user, you will feel a difference.
s there anyway I can get this for a "lefty" RG550?
Will there be a version of this for the ZR tremolo?
As you may or may not know, the Edge tremolos have a tremolo arm that just snaps right in, the ZR tremolos have a screw-in arm.
has anyone actually bought one?
Even non guitarists should buy one of these...seriously. You can put them on your oven and it makes your baked potatoes taste better
:: "mam walks into a bar : ....boom boom
Will the same model be available for the Edge II / III bridges?
I know what he means with boingyness, when you hit the string hard you can get the boingy fluttering, but 70 euro for a tremelo bar is absurd!! I would like to have one, but never for that price.
I tried one myself. I have an Edge Lo-Pro and an Edge Zero.
Tell you what. IT DO HAVE HUGE POSITIVE EFFECT on the Edge Lo-Pro. I guess it will do the same on Edge Original or Edge Pro.
But the Edge Zero, yeah, it kinda work, but the Edge Zero itself is lightweight, it didn't make sense to take out some weight. So i have the feeling that FULLWEIGHT EDGE + ULTRALITE ARM = EDGE ZERO + ORIGINAL ARM.
They should have called it the "Boing Elimintator". What it's also great at eliminating is $100 notes from your wallet.....
No. Just the edge and lo pro edge models.
Make one for gotoh 510 ffs.
they.. made it lighter and charged more ?
Can I use with the Edge-Zero II tremolo bridge system? I am confused if ZR-2 is the same as Edge-Zero II tremolo bridge!
+Cesar Figueroa No, the ZR-2 is another trem. This is not compatible with the Edge-Zero II
Is there anyway I can get this for a "lefty" RG550?
If you play it upside down, like Jimi, the trem bar will be right side up
i have it it's cool but if the tremolo arm holder moves every time, this bar is not interesting at all : it moves more than the other even if i play with new torque bushings.I think the problem is the tremolo arm holder (little black circle) it moves too much to use the bar and so, the bar does not hold firmly to the base
You can tighten the arm holder with a huge flat head or butter knife. Then the bushings will work a day or 2 before they wear out (on the old bar anyway, I hear the ultralite is tighter)
I've never heard tell of this "boingyness" he's talking about, and never experienced it with any floating bridge guitar. Besides, why would you want less mass on a trem equipped guitar?
What next? a carbon fiber edge tremolo maybe? that will lots of weight reducing and a carbon fiber guitar body.......:)
Remember everyone it's your choice, and Joe does endorse Ibanez. No sense in harassing the man for doing his job.
Hmm I think I will wait until I snap my wammy bar first before I get that puppy!
Will this fit on all the different trems like the Edge Zero....??
what does he mean by "getting rid of the boing" does he mean the flutter effect?
+Zack Brannon
I've wondered that myself -- why would you WANT to get rid of fluttering? Fluttering sounds awesome when used
properly. EDIT: Ah, I've re-watched the video. I know what he's talking about now. When you're playing normal and not wanting to use the trem bar, if you do very fast bends, it will actually cause a flutter effect when you don't want it to -- that's what he's referring to. IMHO there are easier ways to fix this problem than buying an $80 trem bar made out of unicorn dust.
If I don't wrong, ZR and ZR2 have different arm holder, so it wouldn't work...
Absolute hogwash. Cut to the chase and just start selling the sunglasses joe
What bars are out there that I can use on ZR2 trems? I can't find a single authentic replacement anywhere!
PlayingGuitarRules1 Adam from www.fu-tone.com/catalog/ will machine/build you anything you require trem wise, You can either contact him/them through the site or via facebook. If he/they don't have reference measurements available then that will be the first thing you'll need. Hope that helps, It won't be the cheapest route but you will get exactly what you want. All the best dude (I don't mean a whole new double-locking trem system obviously, Just which ever part(s)/component(s) you require). I think that Ibanez ought to offer the bar upgrade to fit all their systems, They've missed an opportunity there. I mean they have the design just right so just re-tool for the other bar slots
Can anyone tell me if it fits SA series ?
yes it is, it comes on a number of current ibanez guitars. it came with my JS2400
It really is nice. But.... they are selling these for $80.00. wth?
No. Just the edge and lo pro edge models.
looks like the same tremolo arm than the one on the Jem 7V7 isn’t it ?
1 person using fender bridge tremolo arm
"a short interview"... nah not really that was just commercial.
Wow a carbon fiber tremolo bar that feel weightless and expensive.
Well that was blind of me....thanks...
ANYONE KNOW IF THIS WOULD FUNCTION ON A RG120??????
+Sasan Maramkhah Beyond the disconnect of putting a $125 trem bar on a $125 guitar.. no, it won't work. It only fits the edge style trem with the drop in bar.
So, will we get them for the Edge Zero 2 and the ZR?
Will it fit on a Music Man JP6 ?
Dang. I really want one but I have a ZR so...
cool i want one
Ibanez, please, can you tell me how to make those white things on the trem bar actually last? When I put new ones on they last for a week then it's loose again...I try to burn them with a lighter, which makes them bigger and then it's fine for another week, and then it's loose yet again. Is there any way to make them stay tight? Or convert the bar of an edge pro bridge to a screw-in type bar so I don't have to keep buying these little white bushing things? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
try to put a little bit of nail polish on the inside of the bushing (white thing)
don't put too much because at some point it will make the tremolo arm socket loose
+RivaldoRamli
Hey -- so take the trem bar out, take the white bushings off the trem bar, put nail polish on the inside of the bushings, and then put them back on the trem bar?
Or put nail polish on the outside of the white bushings while still on the trem bar?
I'll google it and give it a shot - never heard of the nail polish thing -- I tried the teflon tape, it works for an hour or so, but the tape rips off.
put the nail polish inside the bushing
I made a vid about it but if you take a dime-sized bit of D'Addario string wrapper and put it over the hole, push the bar in and it'll go down in the hole and surround the end and the bushings. When you pull the bar out, the plastic comes with it.
@@Billkwando I ended up just getting the magic arm from red Bishop. It’s way better.
Bummer.
Does it fit in the RGs as well?
Where in Europe it is possible to buy ultralite whammy arm?
Let me know when they're about $30
Carbon Fiber is not new material Joe.,....years in the making?
"This tremolo arm can be used only with Ibanez electric guitars equiped with the following Ibanez original tremolo systems.
Edge / Lo-Pro Edge / Edge-Pro / Edge-Zero / SynchroniZR / ZR-2
* It does not fit any tremolo system other than those mentioned above."
Check the description.
Is the original edge better then the lo pro edge.. ?
Absolutely as I had the edge pro and hated it for going out of tune a lot, yet my edge trem on my RG550 is splendid superb
GUYS I BOUGHT ONE ITS SHIT IT STAYS SO FAR FROM THE FRETBOARD ITS VERY INCONVENIENT😒
where can I buy it in Europe?
seeing joe in masterclass next month, keen to see whether he uses one
Unlike a lot of other stuff he's put his name on, 13 years later he's still using the ultralite arm.
this is absolute snake oil
Mister Tee it’s not
No se que dices cariño , pero que quererte te quiero JOE :D ~
