This is great! Thank you! I saw there that the circle had overlock around before putting the elastic… is it ok to do so without the overlock step? I don’t own an overlock 😣
One thing she didn’t tell us is how did she determine what size square fabric to cut out in the first place. Do you measure the diameter of the bowl and then divide that in half? And where is she from? Sometimes she sounded like she was from Australia and then she sounded German and then I thought maybe she’s from South Africa
@@user-mv9tt4st9k Well I can practice on a smaller bowl but then the larger the bowls I am guessing you would need to be adding extra inches to get the square. There has to be a mathematical formula somewhere
@@dcwatashi No, the diameter of the bowl plus a bit to come over the brim and sew the elastic, is the size of the square you need regardless of the size of the bowl. Don't divide anything in half to decide the size of the square. A 6" circle has a much smaller area than a 6" square and will fit inside the square. The bits you cut off at the corners are from the extra area in the square.
@@laceandbits would be very hard to do in regards to making them as a gift because it would seem really strange if you went into your friends house and started measuring their bowls 😜😆😹
@@dcwatashi But then she wouldn't know what size your friend's bowls are either, so how can she tell you how to make the calculation. All you can do when you're at your friend's house is to see if their bowl is about the size of your hand, or from your wrist to your elbow or some other such measurement. When you get home, find a similar size bowl in your own cupboard and make a cover to fit that. If it's a bit big, it will just have a bigger overlap all round so the measurements are crucial to a millimetre.
I use it to keep dust out of my Kitchenaid mixer bowl that sits on the counter. You can use it to cover food outside when not ready to serve to keep bugs or anything that might blow into it.
I could hear her. What are you watching it on? Computer smart TV laptop desktop I should say? I know that the windows operating system really mess around with RUclips and the volume controls
I use a similar cheat for small projects. You might try pinning your fabric below your cutting line. I also make my marks fairly close together and connect them for a curved cutting line.
Don't forget there is a RUclips volume slider as well as the volume control in your device. If the YT one is set very low, it won't make any difference how loud you set the device's level. I usually have YT on loud, set to the RH end, and then alter it on my device to a comfortable level.
@@laceandbits Have you noticed in the last few months that the commercials on RUclips come on so damn loud and then you have to turn the volume down when the commercials are on or try to skip them and then when you go back to the original video the volume decibel reading is much lower I hate when they do that Especially when you’re trying to follow along a video to make something I’m constantly having to mute the commercials because they’re so loud in reference to the original video
@@dcwatashi I have a free ad blocker and don't get any interruptions on RUclips videos. If I did, I don't think I'd bother to watch them. But it is normal on television or anywhere else for the adverts to be louder - it's so you can still hear them when you go out to the kitchen to make a cup of tea. Do they really think we watch them all?
Excellent idea saves lots of time measuring plates etc. thank you very much !
I LOVE bowl covers because I have A LOT of basins that doesn't have a cover and these help me A LOT‼️
I love this. I use a similar cheat for small pieces.
PS: I was distracted by your wonderful fabric.
Wonderful project to make as a gift.
Thank you very much ♥️
Obrigada pela aula..Amei.❤.Sou do Brasil 🇧🇷
How wonderful!🎉
This works Great, Thank you! Just cut my circles 1/2 bigger like you said!🙃

Love your demonstration
Love this as gift item.
One suggestion when trying to measure use a weight or bean bag to hold down material.
What brand scissor are you using?
Could this be done using the circular embroidery attachment?
you just amazing
Baie dankie vir die video. Kan nie wag om een in die shop op my BERNINA te stik nie.
So very nice

Baie dankie vir die video. Sal jy asb n video maak hoe om n juffrousak te maak.

I would measure across the widest part of the bowl and then add an inch/couple of centimeters for seams and ease.

And all the scraps go into a door snake....so ya do not waste a thing
Can’t understand, not loud enough.
BUT WHY do I need a bowl cover?
To keep flies off? Can't see any other use for it.
@@laceandbits keeps dust off also
Some bakers will use it instead of plastic wrap to cover their dough while it rises.
Everyone has bowls that don't have lids... keeps your food fresh and unaccessable to flies, to let dough rise...who wouldn't want one!

Cant get the sound up enough to hear. Too bad. I can never get a perfect circle. It isnt the method, its the cutting w scissors.🐒
