How do the puffers that are caught by birds inflate once out of water? Do some use air?
Yes, puffers can also use air to inflate, but this is pretty dangerous as they might have issues deflating if they do that, so it's never really recommended to take a puffer out of the water.

Fun fact; as a kid I loved the pufferfish. Read a book about dangerous animals and it was in there. As an adult I still own that book and do cute voices to puffys at the aquarium. :3

Good question, that might be harmful for the fish i heard somewhere its death but i don't know.
Yes, this is a problem that plagues puffer fish keepers. If they ever puff up out of water, they inhale air and usually die.

I'm really curious about this, when i was a kid we used to eat porcupine fish because we believe it's not poisonous unlike other pufferfish which now I'm not really sure if we are just immune to it or maybe the sea back in my hometown lacks the bacteria for the toxin or maybe that species is just not poisonous, what you people think?

Fugu is extremely bland. I had a full meal of Fugu courses at a very nice tokyo restaurant and it was extremely disappointing. It’s nearly flavorless, and extremely chewy. Still worth a try just for curiosity’s sake though.
