Might be controversial to say but Reach is the best Halo game IMO. It felt like the culmination of everything Bungie had done. The campaign was easily one of, if not the best in the series, it has probably the best lineup of weapons, music was Marty O'Donnel's Masterpiece etc. But beyond all that I loved the unified progression system and the gobsmackingly incredible amount of customizaton given to the player. calling it glorified firefight is hyperbole but he has a point, odst doesn't have the same level of gameplay ingenuity that halo 2, reach and 3 brought to the table in terms of level design, freedom of playstyle and unique gameplay events/obstacles. odst was just more of what we've already seen before in halo, except without the "wow" moments that punctuated prior installments. seeing that brute chieftain charge towards you for the first time, toppling 2 unscripted scarabs on a massive battlefield, using the target locator the orbitally bombard groups of enemies, taking down phantoms with a mac cannon, etc. the only really cool moment in odst was when you got to blow up a bridge while covenant were charging across it towards you. if odst was dlc for halo 3 thatd be fine but it came out as a standalone game with a standalone game price tag. a good amount of people were disappointed with odst when it came out in 2009 but yall looking at it through nostalgia goggles
@@Skyfoogle I think the lack of over the top set pieces fits, seeing as odst aren't super soldiers that can go toe to toe with the covenant's nastiest vehicles/soldiers. Yeah that was outright dumb. The dude pretty much said "only FPS Halo games!!!!" Which sucks as I would love to see other types of Halo games, ie a horror one with the Flood.

Halo 4 was a good game, had fun levels and the promethians were interesting new enemies, and cortana being killed had a lot of potential (which has now been wasted) and the multiplayer was pretty alright
ferkonstealer I didn’t hate Halo 4, I went back and played it a few times and it wasn’t as bad as I thought. But the weapon sandbox was so weak and the level design left a lot to the imagination. Overall I would probably put it in A- tier

Same, halo wars 2 did well to honor its roots whilst bringing in a new feel to it. I really liked the game, and the campaign was good. I’d say that halo wars 2 is the greatest halo game that 343 has ever released and it can go toe to toe with halo wars 1 in many ways on the tier list. Also its marketing was amazing, and Atriox is the most interesting antagonist the series has seen by far. Art direction was fantastic as well. Lastly, their direction with halo wars 2 is why I can feel pretty optimistic about infinite.
The trilogy is at the top, specifically 2 and 3 for the amazing stories, art styles, characters, etc but reach really holds a place in my heart being my second halo game
Brandenburg Quentin the 3rd you must’ve never played it because goddamn ODST replaces reach as my 2nd favorite halo 3 is still first but ODST might have the best soundtrack in halo
Heretic 117 honestly, besides halo 4 and halo 5, these games would make it in the A-S tier being compared to other games across different genres. We had no clue how lucky we were from the early 2000s to the early 2010s. That was the golden age of console/online gaming imo.

I feel like I’m in the minority for this one but I feel like I have to say it. Halo 4 isn’t as bad as people say, it might just be personal preference, and I will admit it did some moronic stuff with online. I absolutely did not care with how much pre-established lore was changed or outright discarded with HALO 4. I will however state that its multiplayer was fantastic and I put like 400 hours or more into that alone.
I loved Halo 4 but only after the weapon tuning update. That Halo 2 style BR just felt too clean. Also all the forge maps in matchmaking were so fun. People got mad at loudouts but honestly they werent even in half the playlists and everyone just used the BR, magnum and frags anyway.

Punny no, actually 3,2 and reach were my favorites with halo wars 1 and CE both being great games, and the artstyle was amazing back then, i was referring that halo wars 2 was inferior to the original, not that the artstyle was bad.
Pretty fair tier list halo reach and halo 4 are my favourites but halo 3 is the best in the series, reach is a close second the only problem with halo 4 was the ending, I'm part biased to it since it was the first one I played.
I honestly think ODST deserves to be an A tier at best; that game was a pretty unique addition to the series and the setting of New Mombasa was interesting to be in.
I used to play reach non-stop since i was a little kid. now I'm playing through all the main games and it feels so amazing to finally get some backstory on a lot of the elements of my favorite childhood game
It's a staple, it's a legendary creation, it's the grandfather. But it's also low in features and outdated to most. Obviously deserves worship for getting the ball rolling but not for being content packed.
The first 3 halos are amazing , tough choice but The best for me was halo 1. I had the most fun with it via lan parties at my local game store back in the day. It was a truly revolutionary game that stands the test of time! Also when halo 2 came out me and my buddy stayed up for 2 days straight playing on xbox live! Such great times back then! I just got my gf into halo, we are on halo 4 now playing coop!
S - Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Reach Agree entirely, absolutely amazing games and completely cohesive experiences that only this franchise has been able to offer. Halo 2's gameplay was perfect (if we ignore BXR), Halo 3 created one of the most active and creative online communities ever, Reach doubled the scope of it. There's nothing I can say that hasn't been said before. A - Halo CE The sequels put this game to shame but I'm very hardpressed to find an early 2000s FPS that feels as good as this. Can't say anything that hasn't been said. A - Halo 3: ODST It was a bad buy at launch, but once it went down to like $40 it was reasonable. Probably the best storytelling and direction a Halo campaign has ever seen, and ODST's firefight is a co-op mode that only CoD WaW/BO1 zombies can ever hold a candle to. The soundtrack is absolutely gorgeous and might just be the closest to perfection in the series along with H3 and Reach. I'll be completely honest, the replay value on this game isn't that good, but Bioshock Infinite's replay value is trash too but I still feel like that was the one of the best experiences I've ever had in a game. Halo fans didn't really ask for this, so that's why it's kind of slept on and I totally get that, but this game is a piece of art, and as a creative vision I kind of respect it the most out of any of the other games. B - Halo Wars 2 Improved upon the original as a strategy game and absolutely is the reason why the series is back on track, thanks to the very positive reception to the legacy art style. Not a bad story either. C - Halo Wars A very, very barebones strategy game, but definitely a step out of Halo's comfort zone. Story was pretty good. C - Halo 5: Guardians Campaign was bad and uninspired, it's a weird experience that feels like a Marvel movie, except you're not having a very good time and all of the "heroes" are B-movie grade. The soundtrack was OK but it sounded like Kazuma was trying to throw every single movie soundtrack cliche into 5 minutes on every track and didn't really feel cohesive. Multiplayer was a return to form but it showed how stubborn 343i was about making an actual return to the series' roots and building upon it. Nah, everything had to be scrapped and redesigned from the ground up, thanks to their weird obsession with wanting their trademark on it vs Bungie's. I respect that I guess but this is a very bad and uninspired way to go about it. Forge is good again and definitely felt like the leap H3's to Reach's was. It's not a bad game it's just a frustrating one that shows how unfocused and naive 343i is as a game company. D - Halo 4 Campaign had promise but...their ambition went far beyond their ability. As you said, MC and Cortana's relationship came out of nowhere, even if it was handled pretty well. The story was overinflated and they had to rely on novels and media to fully explain it, and even then it's kind of farfetched. Captain Del Rio, Sarah Palmer, and the Didact were extremely bad cliched characters. The Multiplayer suffered from bad map design and more overinflation with all the new scorestreaks and loadouts. Forge was garbage. Spartan Ops was a joke. The soundtrack had like 4 alright tracks (Atonement, 117, Lasky's Theme, and Green and Blue even though that was ridiculously dramatic), which is super disappointing coming from the producer of one of the best trip hop albums of all time. This game could've been good but it really fucking sucked. E - Halo: Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike Ever play I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MBIES 1N IT!!!1 back on the 360? Same concept, but that game respected my intelligence more than these two cashgrab pieces of shit did.
I agree for the most part. I would probably swap Halo Wars with Halo Wars 2. And I’d probably swap CE with Reach because of nostalgia but on the other hand now that Reach is on PC and I got to play it again for the 2500th time including multiplayer I’d have to say, despite the introduction of armor abilities, kill timers and retconning The Fall of Reach it’s such an amazing game.
Halo wars 2 has a short and bland story while Halo Wars had a good story and the best part. You had all the characters from the start and didn't have to pay for a character that gives no good bonuses. 4's story was shit and deserves to be forgotten. And 5 is just a CoD Clone that's much more pay to win
Mostly good, wasn’t a huge fan of your ODST analysis, but I agree with the tier you gave it. Edit: Halo 5 should’ve been in D tier and Wars 2 should’ve been in B tier.
When I was little, I hated the ODST campaign because it was harder to navigate and it didn't hold your hand at all, but when I replayed it recently with the new dlc for Halo MCC, it felt great. The sense of urgency the soldiers he in their voice when giving you call outs was amazing. Though I still don't think it's better three Halo 3 and Reach, I have grown to respect ODST.
I loved it. The campaign was so relaxing. Being stuck in a city all by yourself against a few enemies here and there was cool. The soundtrack was beautiful and relaxing. As someone with few friends and few words I felt truly immersed. I often frequent lonely isolated places too. There’s something peaceful about being in quiet abandoned places. Some people say it’s creepy because you’re alone but I don’t.
Reach was my favorite it showed that spartans is not UNSTOPPABLE and you get to play as the second highly lethal spartan. But if you play as the chief in reach it would have been way different. Like you would probably not die if you play as chief in reach.
Mega moist man yep, Noble 6 died in lone wolf from the arbiter, John would have killed it like a master, Noble, as the second strongest and biggest character in halo is still very good and the nostalgia will stay for long.

@Grant Fuller no I hate they added all that stuff classic movement was better, what I mean by best multiplayer is most to offer. H5 has the best arena game modes, a really advanced forge and warzone which is why I think it’s the best multiplayer but not the best mechanics
Definitely agree, got to take off the nostalgia goggles sometimes. H5 had fantastic multiplayer and the tightest gameplay in general of any Halo. H3 and Reach still legendary tho
Halo reach is my fav because of just everything it had to offer and being able to choose to be elite or human and pitting them against eachother. Also reach made the covenant look more like a real threat to humanity and made the elites more terrifying.

@SpecialDonkey It's all about what one person considers more impressive/important than another. In regards to Halo 2, its an amazing game, but has an incomplete story mode, no fire fight, no forge and the biggest addition to game play (dual wielding) was a feature that was only used again in halo 3 . Just to be clear, i'm a huge halo fan and I would consider my B tiers and up to be some of my favorite games of all time. I just think 1,3 and reach are a smidge more impressive than 2.
ODST and Reach are i think two of my favorites by far if I am honest. I love the interactions between the characters and I think that might be the primary reason but I love them both so much and I don't think any of the others can compare to them. Especially reach, you feel it when each one of them dies and it has the best final cutscene out of all of them with the possible only exception of halo 3. I will say I haven't played infinite yet so I may update this when I do play it but in my mind it goes Reach Halo two ODST Halo wars (i am yet to play the second one) Halo 3 Halo Halo 4 (which might be higher if I didn't get burnt out on it early on but that is just me. And I am yet to play halo 5 as it is not on steam.
Here's my thing about Halo 5. Take out sprint and clamber, and it has one of my favorite small scale arena shooter experiences. It catches alot of heat for missing alot of features and rightfully so, but aside from sprint and clamber, it's gameplay was really fun and well balanced.
@@Mint_petal Halo Reach, it's so low for me because it just, simply, didn't speak to me. The campaign, somewhat good and the soundtrack was as well, but the core gameplay (at the time) wasn't for me, and impact it was supposed to have just didn't get me, and the fact it was revealed everyone will die from the start really, killed the mood for me when it came for a characters death. Them being so undeveloped also done this butit does make sense, seeing as we wasn't supposed to know about all of these characters for more than one game. Well, Jun but yeah. It's a well rounded game sure but not one of my favourites.
The teir list is perfect. I will say in terms of the one that gave me the most nostalgia, Halo CE definitely has my number one pick, followed closely by 2 and 3 tied for second place.

S - Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Reach
Agree entirely, absolutely amazing games and completely cohesive experiences that only this franchise has been able to offer. Halo 2's gameplay was perfect (if we ignore BXR), Halo 3 created one of the most active and creative online communities ever, Reach doubled the scope of it. There's nothing I can say that hasn't been said before.
A - Halo CE
The sequels put this game to shame but I'm very hardpressed to find an early 2000s FPS that feels as good as this. Can't say anything that hasn't been said.
A - Halo 3: ODST
It was a bad buy at launch, but once it went down to like $40 it was reasonable.
B - Halo Wars 2
Improved upon the original as a strategy game and absolutely is the reason why the series is back on track, thanks to the very positive reception to the legacy art style. Not a bad story either.
C - Halo Wars
A very, very barebones strategy game, but definitely a step out of Halo's comfort zone. Story was pretty good.
C - Halo 5: Guardians
Campaign was bad and uninspired, it's a weird experience that feels like a Marvel movie, except you're not having a very good time and all of the "heroes" are B-movie grade.
D - Halo 4
Campaign had promise but...their ambition went far beyond their ability.

Halo wars 2 has a short and bland story while Halo Wars had a good story and the best part. 9. halo 5
10. spartan assault
11. spartan strike
Because of how good halo 5s multiplayer is i'd put it higher
You guys are on crack lmao Halo 5s multiplayer was garbage, story was garbage, and everything about that game was garbage
xbl Sorly lets not forget how opinionated this topic is.
@@greatness260 whaaaa whaaaaa whaaaaa 🍼🍼🍼🍼🍼🚼🚼🚼
Halo 5 is way higher replace it with odst
ODST is the best one
One of my least favorites to be honest
Chill lol
I honestly could not believe he put this at B tier
unpopular opinion but its true
I don't think it really has enough features to hold up against 3 or reach but it's my favourite due to the amount of love that went into it: The story, the artstyle, the soundtrack - things like these created this lonely but hopeful mood that I just adored and still do
S: CE, 3
A: Reach
B: 2
C: Wars (1 and 2)
D: 5
E: 4
F: the mobile ones
This is just based on story and gameplay(not multiplayer[because thats more skill based])(I might have missed some, some one reply if I did)
(Yes I put E tier because of pure OCD)
Water Gamer they are not mobile
@@nikiradio wdym?
how dare you put 2 in B tier
@@Evanalmighty2002 two words:
Sniper
Jackals
Water Gamer you have a point, but knock it down two tiers for that? :(
Halo Reach is my favorite game by so far, the first Halo I played ever.
Also Halo 3 ODST should be higher than B
“Halo 5 multiplayer is worse than 3 and reach” dude I know those games are nostalgic but that’s just a straight up lie h5 probably has the best multiplayer game modes to offer out of all halo games
That's really just your opinion. A lot of people prefer classic halo to sprinting, boosting and aiming like it's cod
@Grant Fuller no I hate they added all that stuff classic movement was better, what I mean by best multiplayer is most to offer. H5 has the best arena game modes, a really advanced forge and warzone which is why I think it’s the best multiplayer but not the best mechanics
Cheese And milk ohhh yeah I see what you mean then halo 5 did have some pretty nice choices in game modes
Definitely agree, got to take off the nostalgia goggles sometimes. H5 had fantastic multiplayer and the tightest gameplay in general of any Halo.
H3 and Reach still legendary tho
When you talk about game modes, I assume you mean after launch, because Halo 5 launched pretty bare bones compared to the other games
h4 had so many mods, including infection, and forge had magnets and duplication which made it easier.
Halo reach is my fav because of just everything it had to offer and being able to choose to be elite or human and pitting them against eachother. Also reach made the covenant look more like a real threat to humanity and made the elites more terrifying.
You could also choose to be an elite or spartan in 3 iirc
I fucking love where you put halo 3 and halo: reach. You did a good job
My tier list of every Halo game
S: Halo Reach, Halo CE, Halo 3
A: Halo 2, Halo Wars 2
B: Halo 4, Halo 3 ODST
C: Halo Wars, Halo 5
D: Halo Spartan assault
F: Halo Spartan strike
I can’t wait for Halo Infinite and hope that I can put it into S tier
S= Spectacular
A= Great
B= Good
C= Ok
D= Meh
F= Shit
I, personally, would put ODST above Halo 4, but, other than that, your list seems pretty good to me.
Oasis in the desert I just prefer halo 4 story more
This is the most accurate list
This is the most accurate list
Mangekyo thank you
i came here to ensure reach was S tier, and we passed that. good
Same
Lol yeah but I mean it deserves SS
Even though it should be B tier at best. Extremely overrated, great campaign and custom games were a blast but multiplayer, especially slayer, was shit. Doesn't come close to Halo CE, 2 and 3.
@@deni6085 Multiplayer wasn't good, but it wasn't "shit." It was average.
@lil crispy halo reach is my favourite halo but what u just said was retarded
2:09 "eFF eFF eH" Im dying xD
I was a little too young when Halo CE and 2 came out and I distinctly remember hiding behind the couch when watching my brother play CE and Chief punching in Keyes’ face: truly terrifying. Then finally Halo 3 was my time and bungie did not disappoint! It was glorious and will always be ma fav!
ODST is mad underrated
And? Still a great game I love firefight imagine putting halo ce 2 3 on s tier Imagine saying halo 3 is the only good halo not even halo ce 2 3 reach odst infinite s tier campaigns stupid preferences fuck them
When bungie left halo, it fell apart.
Halo 4 was okay. It was enjoyable in its own way, not good. But pretty alright.
Halo 5 felt like a Destiny knock off.
Not really
Well at least the latest trailer for infinite looks like a bungie game, we can all hope and hopefully it is better then the other 343 games
@@doomjuan i hope too. we'll see tmr!
Yea obviously
From ce to reach (my ranking of the campaign)
Reach
Halo 3
Halo ce
Halo 2
Halo 3 odst
This is my opinion based on my experience with the games, now odst is still cool, but compared to the others it doesn't hold up in my opinion, the gameplay of odst is just not as interesting in my opinion
Almost shut the video off when CE wasn't S tier
my tier list before watching your video
S tier: halo 3, halo reach, halo 1
A tier: halo 2
B tier: Halo 3 ODST, Halo wars, Halo wars 2, Halo 4
C tier: Halo 5
D tier: Halo spartan assault
bruh did you just put halo 2 bellow reach and halo 1 halo3 is debatable
@SpecialDonkey It's all about what one person considers more impressive/important than another. In regards to Halo 2, its an amazing game, but has an incomplete story mode, no fire fight, no forge and the biggest addition to game play (dual wielding) was a feature that was only used again in halo 3 . Just to be clear, i'm a huge halo fan and I would consider my B tiers and up to be some of my favorite games of all time. I just think 1,3 and reach are a smidge more impressive than 2.
Imo halo reach should be a
"Combat evolved teleported players in front of you in co-op and was slightly jankey, so I'm not putting it in S tier"
You underestimate how annoying it is.
I will say I haven't played infinite yet so I may update this when I do play it but in my mind it goes
Reach
Halo two
ODST
Halo wars (i am yet to play the second one)
Halo 3
Halo
Halo 4 (which might be higher if I didn't get burnt out on it early on but that is just me.
And I am yet to play halo 5 as it is not on steam.
S: Reach, CE, 3
A: 2, ODST
B:
C: 4, 5
He really put ODST in the B tier...
Heresy bro... the disrespect...
Here's my thing about Halo 5. Take out sprint and clamber, and it has one of my favorite small scale arena shooter experiences. It catches alot of heat for missing alot of features and rightfully so, but aside from sprint and clamber, it's gameplay was really fun and well balanced.
You can disable those abilities in custom games
The first Halo game i ever played was 1 mission from halo reach. Finally i bought the mcc and... I LOVE HALO: REACH, its sooo damn great
In my opinion, from playing these games over the years.
S: 2, 3 and CE
A: Hw2, 4
B: ODST
C: 5
D: Halo Wars, Spartan Assault
E: Reach
F: Spartan Strike
Overall rating of all modes: S tier (Halo 2, Halo wars 2, Halo Reach, ) A tier( Halo CE, Halo 3, ODST ) B tier( Halo 5 ) C tier( Halo Wars, Halo 4)

The teir list is perfect. I will say in terms of the one that gave me the most nostalgia, Halo CE definitely has my number one pick, followed closely by 2 and 3 tied for second place.
👊 There aren't enough of us.
Not really. Much of it is personal preference. If you really think their is an objective truth to this chances are you're an elitist overcome by nostalgia.
I've never heard of spartan ops in my entire life until nowLMAO
Yeah literally every xbox live arcade game just instantly faded into limbo
I agree with most of your points. Here is my list to see if others agree with me....
S: Halo 3, Halo Reach
A: Halo, Halo 2, Halo ODST, Halo Wars 2
B: Halo 5, Halo Wars
C: Halo 4
D: (Both mobile games)
I agree, Halo 4 is the worst.
