This was so super wonderful! It was short and simple yet packed with so much information! I loved the explanation of the different sized ends and how to properly use the little handle. AND... the music was fabulous, super fun but not at all distracting.
Thank you! A week ago I'd never heard of bias tape and now I'm watching your video on how to make it. This isn't as intimidating as some of the other crafts I've looked up this week.
While perhaps obvious to many, I really appreciate you explaining how each end is sized! I would've figured it out by trial and error eventually but it's much easier to be shown!
@@EasyPeasyCreativeIdeas you would have quite a giggle seeing what a mess I created trying to make bias tape using only logic! Now it'll be successful! Thank you again for your patience and help!
Ordering these today. I was getting annoyed with doing these the hard way..wasn’t straight at all. Thank you for the video, it was great and I enjoyed it. 😊
Good job of showing it. It would have been better if the words on the screen would give us a chance to read it. It is also, helpful to pin the fabric to the ironing board as you pull it through and iron it.
Cats, Crafts and a little bit of crazy. Right. I had to freaking be ready when the words appeared to quickly hit pause. It would be nice if the creator of this video can edit it and allow the words to stay on longer. Other than that it was a good instructional video.
I was having trouble reading at that speed too! :) Then I remembered you can slow it down, if you click on the cog then speed and choose which you want. Hope that's helpful!
I have recently bought a set of these and now love making bais tape. However I'm really stuck with the the 6mm one, as I can't seem to slide the fabric through. Any tips or suggestions? Alternatively if you could please sign post me to a source. Thank you!
Nilly, I never had any issues with any of the sizes, not sure what may be wrong in your case, they're pretty easy to use. Have you tried inserting the fabric at an angle?
I use a letter opener on the top opening of the tape maker to slide my fabrics through it. Anything with a sharp point on it will help it slide through.
If the tape maker says the end tape is 25mm you'll need to cut 50mm. The 25mm is the finished size and you need to double that number to make bias tape.
the tutorial is good, but I still cant get it right after following the instructions. I'm using cotton lawn that has been starched to give it some body, but only one side of the bias tape is turning over properly and the other is not. I'm not sure why, will experiment with other fabrics
Excellent easy to follow visual instructions. However, the words fly by too fast; even the pause button can't can't catch them. Thanks for the your video.
I’ve bought the tool and been so frustrated . The material has to go in continually straight to get two folded edges that are equal. I’ve tried and sweated and tried but it doesn’t seem to work for me. Some times sewing is 😰😭😭😭😭
I'm sorry to hear this, Lynette! I had no troubles using these little gadgets, in fact they helped me reduce the time spent on making bias tape. Fabric stiffness plays a big part in the process. But yes, sometimes sewing makes me pull my hair too lol
Slow down video by going to upper right hand corner, tap settings, then playback speed. 3 slower rates available. Great video. Crystal clear, to the point & complete with music that’ll plant a grin on your face - in real time, slower playback, not so much. ; /
What keeps the fabric from fraying? I’m using bias tape for straps, and to my knowledge the store bought bias tape raw edge doesn’t fray If you’re using your own cut fabric to create bias tape, would it unravel if the edge is left raw ?
Yay! That's my question. My makers are metric and my strip cutter is standard measure. The fabric doesn't fit nicely into the maker. I tried to find makers in inches or a cutting mat w metric marks (ok, I can do it the hard way and hand cut strips!) but to no avail.😣 Love the video😙 but kill the music.😐
@@grandmalovesmebest whatever your maker is numbered, double it. so for 12mm (1/2") your strip is 24mm (1 in) they aren't a precise device. so for the makers shown in this video, 6mm needs a 1/2 inch, 12 needs 1 inch, 18 needs 1.5 inch, 25 needs 2 inch
I don't often comment on videos but this was so simply done and that made it one of the best explanation videos I've seen. Thank you.
Thanks so much, Carli! You made my day :)

You can also use the handle to hook onto something like the end of an ironing board and pull the fabric through as you iron it.

Thanks, Kym! Happy you found my tutorial helpful! xoxo
One of the best instructive videos of any kind I've seen on youtube. So well done!
Thanks, John!
Thank you so much for the measurement idea! I was always trying to figure out how wide to cut the strips, you made it so easy :D
great video, expained so well as to how wide to cut fabric for size tape needed.
Thanks, Natalie! xoxo

Thanks, Jackie! So happy you enjoyed my tutorial! These are truly a bless although I used to enjoy making them by hand when I didn't have them.
Thanks!
Very well explained and filmed 👍

Very helpful. Thank you. Only thing I would suggest is please leave the words up a bit longer. Thank you!!

What can we use 6 mm width bias tape for?
I use a letter opener on the top opening of the tape maker to slide my fabrics through it. Anything with a sharp point on it will help it slide through.
So if the the tape maker says it's 25 millimeters does that mean I cut my fabric 25 mm wide?
If the tape maker says the end tape is 25mm you'll need to cut 50mm. The 25mm is the finished size and you need to double that number to make bias tape.
@@EasyPeasyCreativeIdeas this is the answer I was looking for.
What do you do if the fabric can't be ironed?
I mean a fabric that melts when ironed like velvet and suede
Thanks

Could a bias tape maker be used for folding strips of material to make labels for hospital scrubs?
I think it would work just fine
video would be good but captions are only visual for split second, our instructor told us to go on to next video.

Probably a dumb questions. What kind of fabric should I use?
LJ, essentially, any fabric would do but cottons work best and are easier to handle.
What keeps the fabric from fraying? I’m using bias tape for straps, and to my knowledge the store bought bias tape raw edge doesn’t fray

Does that make sense? Lol
@@simplyrosalinda It's a simple answer :) All bias tape, homemade included, won't fray because the fabric is cut on the bias not on a straight grain
There is no such thing as a dumb question. Everything is a learning experience and you had a good question.

Ugh. How wide do you cut the strip for each maker [and in inches too]. Don't need the music either.
