I am usually a silent watcher but I couldn’t watch this video without leaving a comment. Absolutely amazing tutorial! Could not have been more to the point but also descriptive! Thank you so much for this :)
You are too kind. Thank you so much!
@@BettyMcKnit of course and again, thank you! This is my second 6 Day Star Blanket and this was just the refresher video I needed for my second!
@@oliviasantosuosso6482 I am working on the repeat rounds and will post them when I can. Videos are not my forte.
I’m so happy to see a newer tutorial of the six day blanket! I watched your older one a while back!
Betty, this has seriously helped me hone my crochet skills a lot!! Ive made a couple things, but this will be my biggest project yet, and its been such a breeze thanks to your instruction! Its been a blast so far and i cant wait to see how it turns out :D
I'm so happy you found it helpful. I look forward to seeing your completed blanket!
I just wanted to say that I have been watching your videos since last night and my goodness!! WOW! Your blankets are freakin' fantastic!! It is my dream to make one of your star blankets! Thanks so much for these videos and the online pattern. I love texture in my blankets and never found something "easy to follow" tutorials until I found your RUclips channel. I want to give some of these star blankets as gifts that will surely impress. Thanks again for all you do. I am addicted to your channel! Laurie
Thank you for your kind words! Be sure to join my group on Facebook for more inspiration and help
LOVED THIS VIDEO explained well and easy to process in my head 😊
This is the first of your tutorials I’ve watched and i absolutely loved it! Your instructions were so easy to follow. Can’t wait to crochet one of your patterns! Thank you
I’m happy you find it helpful
Only 3 rounds in so far but I'm absolutely loving this tutorial, you are clear and take your take which makes it easy to follow and not so daunting. Thank you for creating both the amazing pattern and video tutorials!!
I’m so glad you’re finding it helpful ❤️
Ahhh thank you for posting this! I was following the other crochet alongs but I had to refer the the pattern a lot which was difficult for me. this one is SO clear! Thank you again :)
My videos are not meant to be standalone. I believe I say that in every single one. You really should follow the pattern because there’s a lot of information that I don’t give here. I hope that helps.
I agree. She goes slow and explains everything. So many tutorials are so hard to follow and understand.
@@BettyMcKnit I learn by watching and not as my by pattern but I like that your online pattern comes with pictures so thanks so much. I cannot wait to make one of these.
@mailonez1 Same.. I purchased the pattern, no matter how many times I try, my brain just will not compute... idk why... but I followed this tutorial and watched the lives and referenced the pattern eventho I didn't get it... but My Blanket came out perfect! I'm making a 2nd one now... it's totally worth it, you can do it, I promise 😊
thank you sooo much i am not good with a magic ring when a older lady taught me how to crochet it was with the chain 3 or 4 and that's what i do. you're channel was recommended i'm happy new scubbie
Welcome!
I’m so glad I found your channel. Love the thorough explanations. Also, you Are the creator that I have seen pause and lay the workout and really show what it looks like as you go along and that is so helpful to me because usually I’m trying to freeze the video in the perfect spot so that I can see with the stitches look like to make sure I did it correctly. I wish people would slow down a bit. Thank you so so much!
I sincerely appreciate your kind words
Brilliant tutorial!
I'm really glad I found your video and tutorial it's been really helpful and the blanket is turning out great ❤
I’m happy to hear you’re finding it helpful ❤️
I got the yarn needed for my blanket Betty love your work btw I got lion brand big scoop requires 5mm hook what hook should I use
I answered you on TikTok but you should start w 5.5 and have a 6 ready to go. Be sure to follow the pattern along with the video, it’s free on my site www.6daystarblanket.com
I wish this tutorial was out earlier! I have to redo everything hahahaha
You’re welcome!
hi betty!! quick question, i thought i heard on another video of the 6 day star blanket crochet along that the blanket is to be ended on rounds 4 or 7, is that correct? i just can not find it again to reconfirm. thank you so much in advance! i love your pattern:)
That’s correct you can end on 4 or 7 and add the rsc or leave it without :)
How do we continue this for the blanket? Do we restart the video for the pattern or just continue with the single crochet and double crochet?
Follow the pattern and the older tutorials in this playlist
Hi Betty! I love working on this blanket so far, thank you for your videos! I just had a question, how would you go about weaving in the ends from all the color changes? I want it to look neat since the blanket is both sided. Also is it ok to crochet in the ends as you work in the rounds? Thank you!
@@6buddyx9 only working over ends is not secure, weave them in with a yarn needle, make sure the yarn changes direction at least once, that will help keep it from coming undone.
@@BettyMcKnit Thank you, will do! And how do I make sure that when I weave in the ends from the color changes they don’t get all mixed up and that it stays neat?
@@6buddyx9 if you watch the video I show you how to add new colors in a different place each time to avoid that problem
@@BettyMcKnit Ah okay thank you!
Help i dont know how to start round four ? Where do the 2 double crochet go after the chain 3 ? I dont have any space .... Just a one double crochet
Are your counts correct on the previous round?
amazing tutorial !! love your personality and the way you explain why you choose to do the the techniques you do (e.g. no magic ring, no knotting, etc). Next time i go to the craft store im picking up yarn for this project for sure! i am not the biggest fan or weaving in ends so this will be my first time trying color changing/ multi color yarn, as i feel this pattern has such a beautiful intricate design that would suit that well. Thank you so much !!
Thanks for your kind words, I appreciate hearing from you. I’ll be cheering you on the whole way :) reach out if you get stuck.
Since you’re counting the first chain 3 of the beginning rounds could you not just use 2 stacked single crochet? I use this technique a lot and was wondering if it was personal preference or something else.
You can definitely use it if you like :) I do what I think is most beginner friendly in the video. :)
Betty- can you please share what color yarn you used for the star blanket in your background?! I love it!
Thank you for these wonderful tutorials
I think the one you’re asking about is an old Caron Big Cake called Afternoon Tea
Amazing tutorial! I am having trouble with doing this pattern with chunkier yarn. I have sized up my hook to 1mm over the recommended hook size. However, I am still having trouble with the first 13 double crochets getting too tight. Do you have any recommendations that you could give me?
You can chain more than 4 if you need to. The hole does not have to close :) I hope that helps.
@@BettyMcKnit Thank you so much!
Do I need to use the hook size larger than the yarn or is that just a recommendation
Yes I think you should start with a larger hook and have one larger on hand.
Hello there! I am stuck on round 3, I am having a hard time understanding the pattern. I did purchase it. What part of the video can I watch to help me? Thank you!!!
This video covers the setup rounds, find the chapter links in the description.
Hello!! It is not apart of the set up round. It is round 3 after the set up rounds. Thank you!!
hi! i dont know if this is too much for you but may you make a video for the full 6 day star blanket pattern? i dont really know how to read written patterns yet 😅 it would be great !
You’ll have to be patient it takes time. I’m working on it.
Also, there are a lot of crocheters who learned to read patterns by following my patterns along with my videos. So I suggest you try the pattern while you wait for me to make another video. You will learn a lot and will probably complete your blanket before I complete the video. I’m available in my Facebook group to help you. www.6daycrochetgroup.com
@@BettyMcKnitok! ill wait for the video and ill try to follow the pattern:D
@@Kaiiqq you got this ❤️
So, on the dc2tog and dc3tog, there IS a yarn over between pulling up a loop and pulling through 2 loops? It is not written in the pattern, and you don't verbally say it, but it looks to me like you are yarning over. Following the dc2tog and dc3tog stitch as it is currently written gives me what looks like single crochets.
Yes it’s a typo on a few of my patterns I’m in the process of updating them
I somehow ended up with 8 points while making my swatch. Gonna follow the video more closely on my next go!
Oopsie!
Could you please link the next video. Having trouble finding it. Thank you!
I haven’t posted it yet. I’m editing it, it’s nearly ready to post.
its up now
hi! i had a question regarding the amount of yarn needed for this project! i saw on your website the total amount of yardage needed depending on what weight of yarn used, but i was wondering if you by chance new how many yards per color would be needed? for example if you were using three colors how many yards of each color would you need?
You can just divide the total by the number of colors to get an estimate ❤️
i’m on the first repeat of the whole pattern starting from row two and my blanket is starting to look ruffled. am i supposed to do two dc in every stitch?
i’m really confused on how to repeat the whole pattern in general
@@remina9284 you will only 2 dc in every stitch if the pattern says 2 dc in the same st. Follow the pattern and count your stitches and that will help with any confusion.
Betty you are a queen but I was watching your video with captions on and the youtube captions blocked your note where it says to pull through 4 instead of 3 like you say at 17:44 and I had to frog it three times because I couldn't find where I went wrong :( we're on the right track now though!!!!!!
Ugh so sorry! Sometimes I say things and wonder where the words actually came from 😝
hi betty! this video is a couple months old but i have a question. i absolutely love this tutorial, but i’ve restarted my work about four times and continue to end up with five star points, not seven, what could i be doing wrong? i’m following along exactly but still can’t figure it out.
It wouldn’t be possible for me to know what you are doing wrong without seeing your work. You must be miscounting. It definitely works out with 7 points. Count carefully each round, use the pattern along with this tutorial. I hope that helps.
Hey, I have a question for the setup round 7, did you skip a stich to get to the Center singlecrochet or Was it the next stich?
I’m not sure what you mean, but I think I skipped 2, please be sure to follow the pattern along with this video, I think that will provide some clarification.
I'm sorry, I am not a native speaker, so I cannot express myself as precisely. After you start wit the chain three and three double crochet, there is one single crochet of the previous round before the center crochet. In the written pattern it doesn't say anything about skipping a stich
*and I also did the slipstich in the beginning to be one on the left next to where I started
@@anjablum8525 yes that’s correct
Okay so I'm on round 7 and for the 5 double crochets at the beginning, I'm not at the center single crochet of the first peak but I've followed every step to the T so I've got no idea what I did
Did you skip a row? Did you create extra sts in the join?
@@BettyMcKnitno ma'am I didn't do either of those, I know there's a slight difference in the way I do it because I'm left handed but so far everything else has matched up exactly, I'm just at the stitch directly before the center single crochet
@@princessm3386 did you remember to slip at the beginning of the round? After the slip to join?
@@BettyMcKnit yes ma'am, I have the 2 slips and the once I chain three and then do three double crochet, I keep ending up at the first single crochet in the peak instead of the center crochet
@@princessm3386 post a photo in my FB group and we will look it over and figure it out
Hi. I only have 4 weight I can't buy any more ysrn. Should I use 2 strands, or just one. Thanks.
You can totally use 4 weight! No need to double it. This project works with pretty much any yarn.
@@BettyMcKnit thank you. 😊
When is the next part going to be up?
It’s up check the links
How many colors do I use to make the blanket
However many you would like :) and you can change colors as much as you want or not at all.
Thank you
@@rhondabirchfield1558 you’re welcome :)
😊
LOVE this tutorial!!! Do you know approximately how many yards of yarm is needed for the completed blanket? Trying to figure out how much of each color I need!
Check the pattern for all that info www.6daystarblanket.com
for the life of me, i cannot get past the 3rd round. i always end on a chain 3 instead of a chain 1 and i don’t know what i’m doing wrong
Do you have the correct number of stitches in the first and second round?
@@cassmallow This kept happening to me and it turns out I only had twenty seven stitches in the second round instead of twenty eight even though I counted the stitches for the second round multiple times lol
Can you show us how to square it up?
No I’m not planning to square up this version.
@@BettyMcKnit thank you. I was just asking, because it is impossible to find anyone square up a five pointed star. I understand though. Thank you so much for the reply.
@hopedouglasgreer I have another version in my membership that I’ll be squaring off, I don’t think the 7pt one would look good squared off.
Can I use 4 weight on this
@@lorettaruckle8336 yes you can use any yarn
Ok great thanks
@@lorettaruckle8336 you’re welcome :)
It's for round 3 for after all the set up rounds. I followed this whole amazing video and then got stuck
There are older videos on here this series is a brand new work in progress. If you need help post in the FB group and we will look at your work and help you out. www.6daycrochetgroup.com
Thank you!!!
I don't have Facebook, which video can I reference?
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I was expecting it to be really difficult but once i figured out what a double crochet was (🥲) it was actually pretty easy! thank you again, i can’t wait to actually finish a project xx
i keep having issues with the round 5 3-3-3 and 3dctog 🥲 my stitches after i’m done are 9 on each side and i’ve been restarting this round since yesterday trying to get it right, are there any tips on this? thank you sm!
Yes they are in the video - use stitch markers at the beginning/end of the round so that you don’t work into the sl st or the ch. Follow the pattern along with. I hope that helps.
@@BettyMcKnit thank you sm
