Don't be weak. Be bold. If someone wants you to feel bad for things YOU did not do, acknowledge the frustration of the party blaming you, and point them in the right direction. If you are taking responsibility, and being the target, you are doing something right. Don't let anyone try to pin blame on you. Tell them to go to hell, and button up your shirt that you purchased, ironed, and washed, yourself.
Having religion or pride in one's country is not something to be ashamed of nor are they a source of hate, rather it is the twisting of these ideas by certain groups of people that they become a catalyst for certain other ideas, one of them being racism. But to conclude that religion and pride in one's country are, in and of themselves, racist, is offensive to all of those who have faith in God, Allah, etc, and to those who actually have pride in their country and are not racist.
If the speaker were honest he would admit that there is a difference between an individual "taking responsibility for changing society" and "having the government FORCE a wealth redistribution because of some perceived unfairness by our forefathers".
so many haters on here, man. tim wise is a smart man, speaking the truth. His one grandfather was Jewish, and all of you want to hate him up and down for that reason. You all give me no hope for the world to come together and stop the prejudice and racist attitudes. Racism in the U.S. did not end with Emancipation Proclamation nor with the Civil Rights Acts. Wake up and own up to what goes on. I did, and believe me, it does not hurt you, it strengthens you and improves you. Peace to all.
If you take Tims example of ethicism, then surely the mega rich should also be responsible for equalising the standard of living within the community? no? nah, didnt think they would. Nice thought tho'.
What makes you think that living in a grass hut and wearing a loincloth is objectively worse than wearing cheap polyester and living in shoe-box sized apartments? Some people abandon what you would myopically refer to as "civilization" for a simpler yet more fulfilling life. Where was your car made? Mine was made in Japan. Can I still keep it?
"Us" whites? I'm sorry but you don't get to stake a claim on the ingenuity of others based on sharing a similar skin tone, not to mention that all the things that you've mentioned came to be due to very complex global dynamics. The sciences all owe a great debt to a multitude of cultures and you trying to focus on a certain 'race' is incredibly myopic.
Nope not sorry that I'm white! Nope don't feel I owe the 1st black person one red cent! Nope I don't feel responsible for holding ANYONE back. Stop blaming others and take responsibility for yourselves

You got something to lose, right?
I get it.
Exactly!

I'll be willing to read it if you can give me a link.
I wish I could be white like Tim Wise

Where is this article you speak of? Proof?

Unfair advantage? Would someone please tell me what affirmative action does now and how does that remedy what happened in the past?
It reduces white privilege.
So instead of your skin qualifying you for a job, your skills do.
Does that sound bad to you?
You're white, so I guess it does.
What did his father do? Lol
Fathers.
@Armigerous Go away troll.
It's not cultural relativism, it's individual subjectivity. There are pros and cons to all cultures, this needn't be an undue pissing contest.
he's got more bs than carter has liver pills.
