Back in the 30's or 40's sometime there was a "black" Wall St. The federal government came in, and completely burned it and the surrounding neighborhood to the ground. Most people don't know this because it's never taught in schools. I remember seeing this episode on TV. This is very important. Thank you.
Yes, this happened in Tulsa back in the 1920s. It's amazing how time and time again, black people and their progress in the US have been destroyed and silenced, and it clearly has a systemic effect in today's society.
2:34: "And this advantage compounded over time." This. So very much. The human brain is hardwired not to notice advantages that you possess (instinct left over from humanity's hunter/gatherer days that encouraged you to go out and get more food) so it's extremely difficult to get people to understand how advantages accrue on top of other advantages over time. To illustrate this, try playing a few games of Monopoly where the winner of each game (the only person not to go bankrupt) gets to keep 25% of the resources they ended with for the start of the next game. After a few generations-- sorry, I meant rounds of playing like this you will be all but guaranteed to know who will win the next game before you even start playing.
"This is not fair! I did not get to pick what color I was when I started!" I like to think he realized what he said the exact moment he finished saying it.
In my elementary school, they combined “red neighborhoods” and “green neighborhoods” to make the schools more diverse. Same with my middle school and my high school. My school is relatively diverse. Not just racially but socioeconomicly.
There are schools that are diverse, but people inside them still tend to make friends with people like them or not include people who are different, so it is still very segregated inside the school.
@@NotA_Bird idk when i was there i had friends from all races. My bestie was Peruvian. But maybe it's because I was a foreigner myself when i got to the US so I just talked to everyone. But i guess now that i think about it there definitely were segregated friend groups... but there were also mixed ones...We also had diversity in our teachers, idk... it was a good school in Cali.
LewCrewCubing my high school was like that. By the time I entered high school my family was upper middle class, but I didn’t get along with the upper middle class students that much. Instead I made friends with less fortunate students a lot more than the opposite.
A couple years ago my red zone mostly Latino neighborhood was like this, schools regularly had cut backs and many art and science programs were canceled. Thankfully around 2008 a private investor created a privately funded charter school deep in the neighborhood and honestly I owe everything to them. It felt amazing to finally get a good education.
@Brook Heyes they are privately run schools that are often better than public schools because if they suck they go bankrupt unlike most public schools because they don't have to compete to be the best.
@@umarkamali2249 You'd think that, but that's often not the case. Without government regulation, charter schools often rob the government and the student body of their adequate educations.
I loved the dad in this one, he portrayed a sense of genuine guilt and distaste upon learning all of this, especially when he heard about where his son was going to school
@@negativeiqpoints396 He didn't feel guilt; he was learning that he had benefitted from an unjust system that he didn't take part in in creating. With that knowledge, he understands present inequalities and how they were created, and he'll work in the future for a more just society.
If you're white and have a nice home, don't feel bad. Get mad. Get mad at the system that still keeps your neighborhoods segregated. Think about whether affirmative action programs are really about giving black people an advantage over whites, or whether it's about evening the playing field that's been stacked up for white people for years. Vote. Support initiatives that help enrich black neighbourhoods and abolish discriminatory practices. If at work you find out you're payed way more than your peers, you don't feel bad for yourself, you support your colleagues in asking for raises. It's the system that's broken, not the players.

Basically: legal, systemic segregation no longer exist (for the most part… compared to before the 50's… yeah mostly) but the effects of that segregation can be felt all the way up to this day.
People generally naturally choose to live with people who look like them. Who wants to hang out with someone who doesnt even speak the same language and you cant talk to them? Someone who doesnt share your religion and eats pork when your religion says its an insult to god. How could they possibly get along? They dont.
You’re always fucking bitching about segregation, what’re you talking about?! There’s no way you’re all ignoring this shit. Liberals are going fucking crazy over it.
Plasmabolt64 USED to be. I only watched Disney when I was younger. Now, I expanded out to a lot of other shows. Some of my favorite cartoons are Gravity Falls and Adventure Time.
The segment about schools was so true omg. I went from a predominantly black school to a predominantly white school and the social economic status was like day and night... at the predominantly black school, I remember we didn't even have an honors or gifted program, so I got put into AP. Once I changed schools and went to a predominantly white school, I began suddenly struggling with the insane change in requirements.
It's called feminism and black women, specifically the ones you see cussing at their kids and stomping on their dead carcass in the middle of Walmart shopping haul screaming at the top of the lungs "You ruined my life You ruined my life!" Don't deny it, we've all seen it! Most people are too afraid to speak their mind, but not this half-breed!
jhgjhgj hgjhgdj If a community is equally educated and 15 percent black, wouldn't you expect at least 10 or 15 percent of black people to get the job? Blacks are still discriminated against to this day in the job field so please don't act like AA is ruining your life. Imagine not getting 60% of the jobs that called you back just because of your name
And then disadvantaged schools get closed for being "ineffective" when compared to their advantaged counterparts and are replaced by for profit schools that do not need to hire licensed or experienced teachers. This puts minorities at an even worse advantage.
Everybody knows a statement like, "you often find home schooled kids out preforming public schools," is really anecdotal, as in, "I like this data, so I'll use it and disregard any data I don't like." Well, actually, everyone doesn't know that, but I sure wish they'd learn it. If you're gonna start your comment that way, I think I'll just skip to a reply and ask that you stop cherry-picking your stats.
TheReUploadChannel They are. You're right. Therefore, they need higher quality teachers. But they don't have the funding for that. They don't even have enough funding for the same quality teachers as predominantly white schools. Ironically, the areas where this is going on the least? The Deep South. There, there's a lot of poverty in white and minority families alike. And, while poverty is a horrid thing, it means, for the most part, both are on equal footing when it comes to housing. In all it's irony, the racist slave owners of the past created an economy where most white people were already poverty-stricken, meaning that, in the far future, they were the most equal place. In one respect, at least. I'm sure the massive amount of racism and hate that happens there kind of offsets it.
Red lining is horrible. My city just recently started working against it so the amount of black kids in my school went from like 3 to 200 in the past year
starventure you guys are sick and it is very clear that you haven’t even talked to a black person in your life. Racism is never right and with people like you, it is never going to change.
because 30.000 white people can't handle their privilege being pointed out at them and refuse to take acknowledgement of the racist system they as a group created and perpetuated.
Lizandra Barboza Sounds like a bit of a jump to your conclusion my friend. I would argue that it’s not just the white people that are mad that they perpetuated a racist thing and can’t accept it. I would argue it’s any person far too thickskulled to comprehend basic fact checks and information, moreover they very well could not at all be unable to except that they’re perpetuating racist practices but rather wish for more of said practices. The fact is people are assholes and and just because people are factually incorrect and total dumbasses doesn’t mean we can rope them into a group and stereotype them otherwise we become just as bad as them.
Pizzalover346 My comment was based on my immediate shock after watching the video, I’ll be more clear: This problem not an opinion, it’s a fact, so therefore it cannot be ‘liked’ or ‘disliked’. You’re correct, we shouldn’t stereotype people because of their knowledge, any number of circumstances contribute to that. (place of birth, community, illness, etc.) Most you have no control over. Nevertheless, basic human decency isn’t something you can or cannot learn. So, completely disregarding this, even if it goes against some twisted belief, isn’t an option. If there’s a problem, then one cannot ignore it because obviously something’s wrong.
Closing your eyes and wishing it away like the boogie man is not gonna fix it.. At least these guys are humble enough to admit and bring it to light.. Which is the start of solving any issue.. Truth is truth whether you deny it exists or not
What's sad is all the politicians that get everyone's vote by saying they will help fix these problems almost never end up doing anything they said they would.
I hope these videos never stop. They are SO interesting in how they shed light on rather inconvenient or just unknown truths about HOW things have come to be.

An excellent, digestible intro to a piece of foundational, yet overlooked US history. Perhaps my most pivotal social experience was stumbling into an Urban Planning program in college. Absolutely fascinating, and absolutely terrifying to learn about the cause-and-effect of very real government policies. Also very motivating to fight for better, more equitable policies.
I think we should start with getting a Universal Basic Income in play. The government should then incentivize companies to Automate Production to the point where people don't need to work all that often anymore. As automation increases taxes on automation should increase allowing the amount of money people get from the UBI to rise. Keep doing this until all basic needs are covered. (Housing payment, Food, Water, Electricity etc.)
I'm in 6th grade. Honestly, its shameful that schools dont teach about Americas racist past. I wish schools would educate us when it comes to these problems. I should be learning history from school, not from a comedy channel on RUclips.
It is all by design. They don’t want people to know how one group of people had the advantage over others. They want you to believe it was all “hard work” 😂 💀. Look up the Homestead Act 1862 which was created to give acres of land to white peasants from Europe but at the same time denied black peasants from Africa. Lookup the GI Bill and how it benefited white soldiers while blacks were denied the same benefits.
That’s why Critical Race Theory should be taught to our college communities. People right now think racism was solved by Martin Luther King Jr., but the truth is that racism is a very deep rooted system that impacts people to this day. We need to let the future of our world know of these racist infrastructures so they can change it when they enter it.
Not only that, they are now actively trying to stop people from teaching it, because whether or not people are comfortable learning it is *apparently* more important than the history itself.
I am kind of sad that he didn't use NYC as an example. Despite it being such a diverse city, it has the worst segregation problem in the US. For those who want to learn more about how segregated our society is today, I would like to suggest the documentary "Teach Us All". It is really good and shows us that our country has backtracked.
Giselle Cole I hate to sound jaded and cynical, but that is just human nature. People loke surrounding themselves with the familiar. And as our society gets more and more diverse, people will segregate themselves harder.
DooM Guy 83 I don't think you read my comment at all. And even though NYC is a liberal city, it was never properly desegregated, leaving NYC segregated through de facto segregation (segregation by fact, not by law).
Giselle Cole no I read you're comment just fine. Defacto segregation is a choice. People NATURALLY collect with others that look and think as they do. On college campuses now, black kids want safe spaces, black only areas and black only graduation. Nothing you're saying adds up. NYC is a prime example of how your ideology is wrong.
DooM Guy 83 ...i'm guessing you've never set foot on a college campus, its not really like that, sure there are some people that do but their numbers are incredibly small. And to say all of any group want something is just, plain and simply, wrong. And to even say what youre saying as a point you need to actually understand why those people think that way, which you obviously dont because you missing the OP's point... which was also the point made in the video and a point that's been made across history... segregation doesnt just mean things are separate but they're the same... which is why people fought against segregation in the first place, one side always gets the short end of the stick and THATS the issue... theres a clear correlation between minorities and poverty, crime, poor schooling etc and it all stems from the same thing, as outlined in the video... If it was really a choice, then it wouldn't be a huge deal.... but for most people it isnt a choice... which was also outlined in the video, funnily enough
I suppose the first step is to spread and raise awareness like this, and to call racism and ignorance out whenever you see it. We cannot continue to be non-racist, we must be actively anti-racist. If everyone did this, then there wouldn’t be anyone left to reinforce the racist system.
One: Learn and educate others on the hidden history of racism (there's more). Two: People need to stop saying things like "Get over it. Slavery is over." People never say that to Jews about the holocaust. Three: Learn truly what "White privilege" means, and stop saying it's nonsense because you don't personally see privilege in you life. Four: Join in on helping black people make changes through government polices. Five: If you really want to change America? Take action on what you think can make a difference.
C Houzell I mean, I’m not American, but your pointers are great. Racism is a huge problem here where I live too, and in most of the world, I think. Hopefully we can make a global change.
lotsa people gonna hate this one. No guys you don't have to feel guilty for having your nice home in the suburbs. We can't change the past. But screaming white guilt I hate that crap you liar isn't right either. We need to work together to figure out policies and regulations to help all Americans succeed. we could start by stopping wasteful practices like getting kickbacks to lead poison your predominantly black city. *coughflintcough* But see unemployment among minorities is also always higher than for white people, so its harder for them to find means to support themselves. (Unemployment means you are looking for work remember.)
Thats not how the world works, if you have enough money and are suffiscated you can do anything... Maybe its harder but thats no excuse. If you want to get ride of a steryotype be the example. Same goes for every race.
Kiel Anderson Let me get this straight. You've just been told that America's current _status quo_ is unfairly antagonistic towards minorities who have been forced into underdeveloped and underfunded ghettos by generations of racist policies, and your answer is "get money and class"? Are you fucking kidding me right now?
its actually not that hard, the key is education, we here in America give benefits to people working really hard. We can't make a change for the African Americans, if they are not willing to put effort into it as well. Asians, Jewish, and White, mainly are at the top for Education. The same is for sports which is predominantly African American, and white. White are not the top for either, you don't see much asians playing basketball. We have laws in most University to accept an equal or at least try to accept an equal amount of each race. We do not do the same for sports. Me, being an asian, I have a ton of competition in terms of education, the same is with sports African Americans would have a ton of competition, when laws such as affirmative action which basically lowers the requirement for minorities are placed in University I get pissed off. That like reserving spots on the Basketball team for other races, even if it means that they are not as good. African Americans have more benefits then any other race to be honest. if we want benefits we should give it to everybody. Education is there to have the skill needed to make money and survive, same goes with sports, people pay to get money, to survive. The best should always have the right of way as they are the ones that deserve it the most.
Now I understand why the hood in Chicago exists. I always tried to figure why and how but it makes sense totally. Especially the Expressways through the ghetto. Just look at I-290 going to Loop and look at the areas it goes through. Shits wild. How do you even fix that though..
You need to invest or push for companies to invest in the communities to bring in opportunity, which means more jobs which means more opportunity for improving housing. You need to re-shape the hood yourself and appeal, sadly.
Simple answer on an individual level, get a job and leave. Despite the unfair disadvantages, at the end of the day someone is personally responsible for a part of the crime and violence. Nobody needs to do drugs to "escape", jobs and education are available. China and India have much worse funding than the U.S.'s urban city schools and their pupils are kicking the U.S.'s ass every year. It's a difference in mindsets.
@@sivasankar2189 Businesses aren't going to willingly move to poor neighbourhoods. Unless the government subsidizes them then the only option is to move. It's not "running away", it's called making a smart economic decision. Where's the sense in staying in a crime ridden location with no jobs and poor schooling when there are immensely affordable homes elsewhere? Rather than making everything the government's responsibility and adding more unnecessary taxes on third parties why don't people grow a brain and take control of their lives.
You CAN fix it. You have to help to get people of color to get good education. That' what Malcolm X tried to do. Education is the key. To do so, we sure need financial support. In Germany education is free for everybody and you can get a high qualified education wether you are rich or not. Sadly it's obviously not the same in the US..(I am not caucasian..)
Who??? Who is "closing their eyes" to history???? I keep hearing this, but I don't see these people. Yes, you can find a few old white men in Alabama, or wherever, but this is not a statistically significant group. They will be dead soon. Let's move on. Yes, the US has some very awful components to it's history. So does EVERY OTHER DEVELOPED NATION. It does no good to self-flagellate over this. It's stupid. Shows like this will get Trump reelected. Is that the goal here?
Tommy Fogarty it's not that people are closing their eyes to history, it's that people are closing their eyes to the aftermath of said history, instead of talking about fixing these systematic racist systems, white people are here in the comments saying about how they're proud to be white and whatever like they missed the ENTIRE point of the sketch
Smoked Sausages What systemic racist systems? We are a majority white country so it makes sense most places you go you see a lot of white people. Blacks were freed from slavery, they were considered equal under law, they were given the right to vote, segregation and discrimination based on color is illegal. What else is there that is within the governments responsibility to do?
Clearly the comments section need to study the history division of wealth in The US. I see more unfounded stereotypes being argued as facts than actual facts. Moreover the people that say, "Well it never happened to me" or My family made it from nothing to something", as if their personal story is a rule and not the exception make me sick. If hard work was the answer we could all be rich.
It is the rule. Look at the groups in the US who have higher median incomes than whites: Asians, Indians, and Jews. Are you telling me that their hard work isn't what made them rich? Because they sure as shit aren't from rich home countries.
No. Its called having money to spend in their own communities to build it up. While Black communities if you forget where lynched, burned down and left for shit. jews where given a nation after WWII and the support of the world. Blacks in America where given shit even though it was the slaves that made the Louisianan purchase possible.
Lorem Ipsum No it's not XD. You're telling me that a woman working 5 jobs like McDonald's is gonna earn more than a millionaire who sits on butt all day? Uneducated racists run rampant today
Quinn Horan Obviously not. Hard work isn't all about physical labor and hours spent earning your paycheck. A successful person will often boast the importance of education, experience and research. Asians, Indians and Jews also tend to have support systems among even their poorest communities, take pride in meaningful work and are drastically underrepresented in crime statistics. These qualities make them attractive prospects to employers and loan providers alike.
Half of it is working hard, the other half is education and emotional intelligence. If you have the right work ethic combined with knowing how to deal with situations and large scale decision making, that's how you get noticed and move your way up a company. In most fields, having the right connections grants you more opportunities and those connections are forged through how you interact with others and their perception of you (if you work hard, this obviously gives you an advantage) obviously this is a huge generalization and doesn't fit every situation but those variables do help your odds
Who is disliking this video? Folks who treat fox news like real news? This video is a great tool for learning, and starting point for understanding antiblack racism in the U.S.

Nobody disagrees about the history, they disagree about how if effects today. I think that black people still have the ability to reach middle or upper class. Besides, the only way you can solve this is by discriminating against white people, and racism doesn’t solve racism.
I was the seventh white person in my elementary school because none of my white neighbors wanted to send their kids to public schools where the kids "speak Spanish on the playground".
Ritvik Chitram+ you're right they did have better things to do than talk behind my back, like talking to my face. this isn't stuff they would whisper and hope l didn't hear. they would call me names in spanish in clear view of me.
There were 3 white kids at my elementary school, their mother married into the tribe. We would call them names in Navajo to their faces all the time because they looked so odd, in the end they actually learned our language, it only took them a few years. Although to this day I can't figure out why any white people would want to live on a reservation, I did everything I could to leave the reservation and build a home without going into debt to do it.
Basically, whites get to roll the dice first and get loans + the cost of cheap homes. Through time, those homes are worth millions and they can distribute wealth amongst themselves and maybe start a business. Minorities get any leftovers and do their best to pay their rent. Their parents die and don't pass on any homes or wealth. Minorities continue the cycle while wealth continues to grow amongst white communities. Civil rights goes on which only happened about 50 years ago which isn't long. That's your parents age. Minorities start getting a little bit of help and handouts to even the playing field. The white kids who doesn't realize the handout they got 70 years ago start saying it's unfair and that they aren't getting anything and it's all anti white propaganda. Yeah maybe but hey what about our grandparents who were seeing your grandparents getting handouts... I'm sure they were saying anti minority propaganda.. Just have to face the fact that minorities are getting the help they didn't get 70 years ago... How would you like it if we rolled the dice in monopoly first, bought all the houses and then build motels... Then we said "your turn to move"... Fk you'd be in jail and financially unstable forever !
Agreed, except the help white people got in the great depression was WAYYY better than affirmative action. Give me a loan for a house any day over a possibility Ill be accepted into a school or picked over a job from a white perso.
To be 100% accurate, it's the well-off who gets those advantages, and due to a long history of racism, the well-off are white by a vast majority. But pretty much.

@@gwarby643 Well actually when selling property such as homes, people do use race/religion/any sort of background as a factor when deciding to sell or not, many people of different groups do it. So it's not so much a fucked up racist mindset, it's more of a truth that some people don't want to recognize. Like my grandmother's best friend was selling her home, however she didn't want to sell it to someone who wasn't black, she literally held out for 3 days to sell it to a black couple, as opposed to the white person who actually offered more money. "nepotism"
I can only think of two black people and one Asian girl at my school, and now that I’m thinking about it all 3 of them are adopted and have white parents
There isnt “a solution,” I mean what would that even be? Besides giving away all your wealth and retracting from society. The point is to keep these things in mind when making decisions, be it with interacting with people, buying things, teaching, etc... You shouldn’t feel personally responsible (if you’re white) but you should feel the need to think and act progressively and just generally want to help other people out with the benefits and leg ups you’ve acquired by being white.
there is no hope for many blacks, its too late in the game, the white guy in the video has nothing to worry about, government has gave him his wealth, hope he has not lost it.
The solution is to use this education and new perspective and translate that into electoral results different from how the suburbs currently tend to vote.
Its actually much worse than this. The "rich" "wealthy" suburbs are actually subsidized by the urban core (many are poor renters). The public infrastructure and services needs of the suburbs is much much greater per person. The taxes generated by the suburbs do not cover all the cost to pay for all of it. We are talking about roads, sidewalks, pipes, electricity, storm water drains, parks, police protection, fire coverage, garbage collection, etc. The density of the urban core allows it to operate with economies of scale - more people serviced by the same infrastructure and services. This means more tax payers per unit of public services. The urban core have enough tax payers to cover their public costs and then some. Suburbs are money losers for city governments, while the urban core are cash cows that transfer wealth to the suburbs.
Let me add that the suburbs also consume more government subsidized energy per person. They pollute more per person and do not pay the externalities. They also benefit much more from federally backed mortgages which favors homeownership which is mostly in the suburbs as opposed to more dense areas where there are mostly renters.
I work for a power company here in New Zealand Being a small country we service everywhere in NZ, though of course we do have plenty of competitors. For a while my job used to be with creating work orders for new power installations i.e if you build a house and need power to be installed. It was always more expensive if you were in a power network that handled rural areas because they had to lay so much for power lines than in a city or suburb. People were always surprised, and it sucked to explain, cause its just so shit to say to someone 'yeah its more expensive just because you live here and not there' but its how it is.
You could make it. Monopoly was basically developed to show how unfair capitalism can be. We could make a game like this which would demonstrate institutional racism.
Asians aren’t that affected. No one should be now a days. If you have a good credit score, you should be alright. Asians tend to have better credit scores, so they get to move in to better areas. Pretty simple. Ask homeowners who the most reliable renters are and they’re usually Asians.
thanks for noticing. Now: recognize that efforts to mass-produce empathy are useless and orwellian, and actually a front for large corporations to make more money and get more control, and you'll be a part of the alt-right. Come to the dark side, we have cookies and milk waiting for you.
It's an obvious truth bomb, but it's a big one. Reminds me of the online game, Rust, where you don't get to pick your race, either. I THINK gender as well, but definitely race.

I've lived in the suburbs all my life, and as annoying and overwhelmingly conservative it is, people in lower income areas and primarily black neighborhoods will never have the same opportunities as I do, and it's not fair. To have the opportunity to invest in your home, raise your children in safe neighborhoods with good schools should be accessible to everyone.

This is all great and stuff, I just want to point out that he said “separated by race” after the racist laws were repealed when at that points they were separated financially not racially. It’s just the black people and other minorities in the red area we’re predisposed to poverty BECAUSE of the previous laws. Great video, Adam, I love what you and your team are doing, I just wanted to point that out. The only people inhibiting the “segregation” (quotes are there because they are no longer separated by race as previously mentioned but the people separated are because of segregation) of these areas now are the racist loaners. Besides them the government and literally everyone else is now against this which we all are happy about. It’s just sadly the only people who remain unchanged are those capable of solving the problem.
"I did not get to pick what color I was when I started." Right wing response: "Sounds like an excuse for not working hard, you lazy bum! Make better life choices and you won't have such a crappy life!" If only that wasn't so common that it's almost a direct quote from countless discussions. Even worse, proposing solutions that address the underlying problems is met with a lot of resistance. Not just from right wingers, but also business interests. It's good for profits if there is no interracial (and other groups, including sex, religion, and plain old working class) solidarity creating a united front to push for change.
Bussing was HORRIBLE for both black and white students. In California, they've poured billions of dollars into schools in poor neighborhoods and every dollar has gone to teacher union bosses.
Albert Nave you said that the video went from white people were racist to white people are racist or something like that. so I don't get what i read wrong?
"you didn't get it either white peeps ain't racist policies are." I said people took were as are. You must have thought I said white people are racist.
I like that this video has a lot of dislikes but not many negative comments, it’s like they’re mad that Adam said the truth and can’t make an actual counter argument.
Why did they bring up schools and not even touch on the fact that the government forces you to go to a public school close to you if you go to public school, even if theres a school an extra 30 minutes away that your parents are willing to drive you to they literally are not allowed to
- The trouble with that is the solution is charter schools which Democrats SHOULD like but they don’t because they get a ton of money from teachers unions that wont loosen their grip on poor kids.
@@Adam-sh1xx I didnt say defund it, you could fix a large portion of the problem by funding schools with literally anything besides property taxes because as is poor neighborhoods get shit ass funding
John Adams - Yes, and most of the rich neighborhood schools get additional direct funds from parents as well. Where I live though, the poor schools have been given so many grants and special programs that they are swimming in money and they still suck.
Extremely well handled. Even if you in particular didn’t do racist things, people before you did and gave you the advantages they got from it. If a family member handed you a sack full of money, and you later found out that they got it by murdering and stealing from someone else, of course you’re not to blame for what they did. But most people would still feel bad about having the money in the first place, and maybe want to do something meaningful with it.
Adam: "It's not you're fault, you're not racist, you were just born with more advantages than others. You benefit from systematic racism from over half a century ago, but that doesn't mean you're racist." Comments: "WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO PERPETUATE WHITE GUILT?!1?11?!"

Presumably, employment statistics. Also, alcohol and caffiene are drugs. Technically, almost any chemical could be considered a drug, but in the case of illegal drugs, marijuana actually has medical applications. And practical applications, for that matter. But the issue is more that non-whites are disproportionately targeted for drug offenses, not that they do more drugs in the same situation. Although, due to events noted in this video, they are more frequently in bad environments which promote drug use.
I've only spend a few months in the US, but it's sometimes easy to spot a 'black' neighberhood from a 'white' neighberhood, mostly by the way they treat there gardens. The 'black' neighberhoods often leave a complete mess. Not cleaning up has nothing to do with skin color, race, or economical background, so it does not make sense to me that this is seen as an 'explanation' for not cleaning up. Not cleaning up is enough reason to be considered a bad neighbor, while also lowing the value of the other houses in the street. If this was even more common back then, I understand the green-redline stuff. I don't understand why Adam does not defend the other side, simply claiming that all white people were racist as a 'simple fact' without giving a reason as to why they become or kept being racist.

Giselle Cole black people want segregation today.... what are you talking about? An ny is the most liberal state in America. Get real.

*In canada this issue isn’t really a thing.*
Loads of Americans say the same thing.
There is only one thing missing from this video: an answer to "what can we, non-racist white people, do to help?"
That answer isn't just missing from this video it's missing from the whole system.
Congrads. You spotted one of the main questions today. And we are NOWHERE NEAR an answer.

*coughflintcough*
But see unemployment among minorities is also always higher than for white people, so its harder for them to find means to support themselves. (Unemployment means you are looking for work remember.)
Thats not how the world works, if you have enough money and are suffiscated you can do anything... Maybe its harder but thats no excuse. If you want to get ride of a steryotype be the example. Same goes for every race.
Kiel Anderson sophisticated?
And please look into the history of it if you think this isnt how the world works.
Kiel Anderson
Let me get this straight.
Many other minorities such as Asians and Jewish people had been discriminated, not only the African Americans yet why did they become so successful?
Now I understand why the hood in Chicago exists. I always tried to figure why and how but it makes sense totally. Especially the Expressways through the ghetto. Just look at I-290 going to Loop and look at the areas it goes through. Shits wild.
How do you even fix that though..
You need to invest or push for companies to invest in the communities to bring in opportunity, which means more jobs which means more opportunity for improving housing. You need to re-shape the hood yourself and appeal, sadly.
@@nah4467 good luck that's not gonna make the companies more money so they wouldn't give a single shit
Can we please appreciate the child actor? "They grow up so fast" got me 😂

I was the seventh white person in my elementary school because none of my white neighbors wanted to send their kids to public schools where the kids "speak Spanish on the playground".
that would honestly be so cool. Kids pick up languages so well that the spanish picked up from school peers could actually be really useful in life.
it's not so fun when you're the only white kid in your class and everybody says things about you in spanish.
Ritvik Chitram+ you're right they did have better things to do than talk behind my back, like talking to my face. this isn't stuff they would whisper and hope l didn't hear. they would call me names in spanish in clear view of me.
@@ElectronicsForFun well I'm sorry to hear that
There were 3 white kids at my elementary school, their mother married into the tribe.

BearMalice i think hes saying that white people founded america for themselves, and basicaly they look out only for themselves. (Back then i mean, im not saying all whites are racists, just the ones from way back)

Yes it's very common for White People to deliberately lose money when they sell their house just so they can laugh at Black People.
... yikes , idk what kind of fucked up racist mindset you've got but that's not the reason...
They do usually give some solution after bits like this, but they are only shown in the full episodes, not on RUclips

"Haha! I may be dead but my effect on racism lives on."
I work for a power company here in New Zealand
Being a small country we service everywhere in NZ, though of course we do have plenty of competitors.

@JeepersJeepersJ who's going to do a full on debunking in a youtube comment section? get a grip
if you want to find people against this video, set comments to most recent
Why did they bring up schools and not even touch on the fact that the government forces you to go to a public school close to you if you go to public school, even if theres a school an extra 30 minutes away that your parents are willing to drive you to they literally are not allowed to
- The trouble with that is the solution is charter schools which Democrats SHOULD like but they don’t because they get a ton of money from teachers unions that wont loosen their grip on poor kids.
@@Adam-sh1xx that's not really a solution, that's a work around in a system that's already fucked up.
John Adams - correct. But defunding the whole mess is too big of an ask
You benefit from systematic racism from over half a century ago, but that doesn't mean you're racist."
Comments: "WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO PERPETUATE WHITE GUILT?!1?11?!"
But that’s Adam literally telling the man to check his privilege. His WHITE privilege. lmao
Evan Kearney but it’s not
Didn't know relaying US history was trying to perpetrate white guilt
Aaron Straine Animations that's exactly what that is.
Gil galad he literally explained this in the video. don’t misinterpret things to better suit your argument, you ass.
Why so many dislikes?? People don’t like the truth
malik gilmore , very true
People simply dont like political agenda stuffed into their face, mate
@ThatOneAsianBroChick Prove systemic racism exists.
@@RTMaster1 I doubt you say this about things you agree with
@@skillbopster The information is all there, feel free to do some reading. No one is hiding this from you, unless you're unwilling to face the past.
Can y'all make one on dispensaries and how poc aren't part of that market even though poc have suffered the most do to the war on drugs? Thanks for all your work. And for being a bridge between communities
You're white.
Scrimmy Bingus And? I guess we shouldnt have an episode on that, right? Because you obviously disagree with his statement by pointing out he is white, right?
There's on one marijuana, which I think mentioned how the war on drugs was BS.
Geo Pol Lmao, you missed the point of his comment entirely.
