We don't know what they were thinking, but I'd be surprised if entertaining people was high on their priorities. , They'd definitely do this if people weren't around. I certainly can't speak for the whales, but they could just find breaching fun.

When you’re into animals trust me your knowledge will explode when it comes to knowing what their behaviours are this is amazing and also these whales already know their presence so they purposely put on a show for them.

I'm an avid Grey Whale fan. Been a watcher for OPRD - Oregon coast. Spent 3 days in San Ignacio Lagoon in 2011. But I have never seen a triple. Incredible.

35 years of leading whale watching trips (which that skipper has) gives you insights into their behaviours...there were subtle cues.

Humpbacks are showoffs that like performing for boats. Most whales stay away from tourists but humpbacks are aware humans like them and won’t hunt them. It’s strange- they recognize humans as friends the way dogs and cats do. A dog that weighs 65,000 pounds.
Deep dives are usually a big indicator, which is what all three did.

We saw 3 breech at the same time last week in Cape Cod. We were on an excursion with Hyannis Whale Watchers. It was further away from us than this, but it was still awesome!

What behaviors of the whale let this women know they are going to breach? Lil lone All 3? I’m sure they come up and dive like that and not breach. I know her exp in this field let’s her read their behavior, I was just wondering if it was somthing specific.
Usually deep dives are the tell tale sign, but not always.

OK, who's been training those whales?? lol I'm so jealous. Saw my first whale, a humpback, a couple weeks ago. No breach. She was just chilling. It was still amazing. But now I need to see something like this!

why is that whale watching boat so close to the whales? Not necessarily such a gret thing. just saying.
I don't know Canada's regulations. In the US, there are very specific boating distance restrictions. A good whale watching skipper always obeys the rules. The tricky part is to position your boat in the best location so that the whales can come close to you, if THEY choose to do so.

Which is exactly what happened here, and frequently does, having been out with this skipper more than once.
