Great car but as per usual, too much emphasis on 0-60 times. My car is fast but when I join motorways etc, I dont need to floor it. I gradually get up to speed in my own time without holding anyone up. Why is the assumption that everyone needs to drive full throttle all the time ? This is why the roads are full of impatient bell ends with no self control and no ability to handle a cars power in a mature fashion.
Agreed in terms of the usual motoring journalist criteria. Everything has to have a record setting Nurburgring track time otherwise it's 'under powered'. But I disagree that the 0-60 time is unimportant. There are times when you need a bit of oomph. If you're stopped on the hard shoulder for whatever reason (police pulled you over etc) and you need to get back up to speed, you don't want to be hanging about if it's a busy road. Also there are places with dual carriageways where you need to cross them from a standstill and again, sometimes you want the car to give you that push and not hang about.
Agree with you although I find that having acceleration when you need it (changing to a faster lane when it's busy-ish, merging with a short slip lane) is handy, but even in my 70HP 2nd gen Yaris it's generally nothing that dropping a gear won't fix! Does seem odd that car journalists seem to think everyone is setting lap times in their hatchbacks!
The car excels around town and shorter journeys naturally. It really does what it sets out to do amazingly. I agree performance isn't what people ought to zone in on particularly. It still has plenty though, especially in the conditions its best suited for. The 0-30 is excellent and that's all you need. It's overall power figure is far from anaemic and when you consider the stellar fuel economy. It's one of the best B segment cars in its area vs the competition in my opinion.
@Mary Antonio used to have a 2007 2nd gen Cooper S with 172hp stock iirc? It was a riot to drive and felt quick. Compared with a modern 200hp+ Merc A class (non amg) for example, the merc felt underwhelmingly sluggish and absent of feel vs the MCS

Most automatics will start around the £20k mark, this is a great all rounder as it has a hybrid where as a polo does not and that will set you back around 20k
There's something really wrong with boot spaces still compared in liters; I know it is volume, but realistically, who fills the boot to the ceiling🙄? Boot AREA and regularity give a much better idea instead of counting those liters up in the air, which mostly VW cars exploit to make 'class leading' models. The Polo you mention is slowly vanishing because of how unreliable it has been the last 10-15 years...it's a shame to call that car 'class leading' .
Have to add, this is a lot more zippy than my last Yaris (2017). The engine noise is much reduced when accelerating so sounds a lot less than trying to get to Warpdrive 4 as was the case. Very clear dashboard especially the speedometer and importantly, the time is now on the screen and not obscured by the steering wheel. Excellent arm rest in the front with secret chamber. What is not the like? Really good stuff and the dogs very happy
@@JO3haNsum I get 63mpg which I calculate from Mileage since last fill-up divided by fuel to refill the tank. But, I do 100 miles/day on motorways, which is not what the car was really meant for. The difference between the cars in this segment is the badge. The reason you buy a Toyota is for the build quality (not really the stuff you see, the important stuff). The only reason you buy a German car is for the badge.
that is so wrong. Mercedes, BMW, Audi clearly offer way more features, technology, better platforms with RWD, more powerful engines etc. Nobody cares about the badge but German cars are still better in every category aside from reliability.

@@carbuyer The two cameras have always been there in the shootings. The issue here is that Carbuyer has given their presenters the flexibility to deviate from the standard framework and adopt their own individual approach and style when filming and editing. We had witnessed that once before with Ginny's awkward camera angles. Consequently, we ended up watching reviews from the same channel as if they were coming from two different channels. The truth of the matter is that this presenter has chosen to carry over to Carbuyer filming techniques from the previous channel he was with, the name of which I cannot recall. Apparently, one that made no impression to the viewer. You need to set a new framework and keep it standard across your reviews. You need to come up with new innovative ideas like years ago. Remember?
Where's your enthusiasm and passion? You're so absorbed with keeping up with the script that you strip your presentation of any spontaneity and appeal.
@@carbuyer Years ago, Carbuyer introduced a new trend and paradigm on making car reviews. With Mat and Rebecca, Carbuyer managed to take the lead away from WhatCar. At some point, Mat decided to spread his wings to experience his creativity on his own channel. Not only did he keep up with the new paradigm but he succeeded in evolving and taking it several notches up the scale. Carbuyer, on the other hand, introduced us to Batch and Ginny. Batch received a controversial welcome whereas Ginny was never able to settle and relax in front of the camera. Even after years of being with Carbuyer, she couldn't keep a natural pace or stance in front of a car. They may not have taken it a step further, but they both remained on par with the new paradigm reviewing cars with the same passion, enthusiasm and commitment like we have come to expect from Carbuyer. You set the bar high. Don't expect us now to settle for anything lesser. We will be relentless!
Remember when Batch was a new presenter, he received so much negativity and now viewers want him back. I do miss Batch and Ginny though but come on give these new presenters a chance
Hi Frank, Batch has started his own channel and I founded Electrifying. We'd love you to come and subscribe to our channels too. I am the only one feeling strange when seeing you parking the car in the corner of the road? I, personally don't feel comfortable seeing that and I feel that you are giving a bad example. Imagine coming from the opposite direction and you find someone parked right on the corner filming a car review... 🤦♂️
Too repetitious and wooden. The use of multiple camera views is so passé, the man has a droning voice and knows very little about the car he is supposed to be reviewing. The CVT is not the ordinary type but Toyota improvement of the concept. Car Buyer bosses take note, this man might well be better in a different job.
Calling this a self-charging hybrid is about as useful as saying it has self rotating wheels. It just means that Toyota either could not be bothered to make it a proper plug in hybrid or could not find enough space for a decent sized battery.
Describe it how you wish, I don't think it's inaccurate though. I'm sure you know it charges from recouping kinetic energy on the drive and via engine engagement when required. Hardly matters though when it's a solid hybrid drive train that does exactly what it sets out to do. It's frugal. 60-70mpg without much effort is no joke and it's more enjoyable to drive than any modern eco shitbox runaround has any call to be. Fantastic acceleration for its power figure from stand still and it's reasonably agile while also being comfortable. Ticks the boxes for the intended target audience
Let get real here nobody wants automatic cars, this is not america. You compare Lexus Vs Kia, Hyundai,?? Lexus is next level. In pretty much everything
@@nidjo057 Check your data again mate.
We have a Lexus hybrid, there's nothing wrong with the interior... Although car reviewers always
feel the need to compare it to BMW and Mercs.
4 years on- battery is completely gone. Uses the engine the whole time. Uses twice the fuel of a normal car! Worst car I’ve ever had.
I would never buy a car just based on its infotainment system.... it’s not what you buy a car for!
ruclips.net/video/ET-f5MVM4kc/видео.html👋🏻✌🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It is a big part of new care nowadays tho
I wouldn't buy a car which didn't have DAB radio.
How tall is the host ?😂😂😂
Amazing Car absolutely lovely to drive
Would you say it’d be a good car to learn to drive in?
@@HolleeChantelle I will answer that, yes. Of course i prefer manual transmission while learning to drive but this one offers great handling, good safety features and small turning circle.
@@HolleeChantelle I've been using a 2014 model to teach learners for several years. I start everyone off in the Auto - even if they want to switch to a manual car later on. They can't possibly stall, and the lower work-rate means they learn the basics, and build up confidence much quicker - saving money on lessons in the process!
show more of car, not road and presenter. also blue tone and blue car doesnt do good. form interior i only saw presenter and some closeups.
Thanks for the feedback, Kuzo6. We'll see what we can do!
I laugh when they talk about the 'gearbox' and it being a 'CVT' - they obviously don't have a clue how the car actually works!
True. But in fairness, I've never met a car salesman who could explain CVT, DCT or (heaven forbid) torque converter transmissions. They quite rightly stick to what they know and bang on about interior design an the feel of the plastics. Throw in a couple of Top Gear cliches and they're sorted. Try asking one how a clutch works if you really fancy a laugh!
@@davidbesant la transmission est fiable, c'est l'essentiel.
More side shots of the presenter talking to no one 👏🤮
It's a bit odd u get triggered over a camera shot
LOL I was going to say the same thing but you beat me to it. I'm guessing it's supposed to look cool or something :)
@@MickBeard I guess it's something cause cool it ain't.
if only this were in the US :/
Y-a-t-il des petites voitures comme cela au usa ??
I do think this RUclips channel is very good but I must say I much prefer Carwow with mat Watson and I’m sure most people remember mat Watson used to be on this channel years ago
ruclips.net/video/ET-f5MVM4kc/видео.html👋🏻✌🏻👍🏻
Goodbye Carbuyer. No offence but these new presenters are about as interesting as the Toyota Yarns. Unsubscribed.
Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy this video. We encourage you to stick with us - we've got loads more content and exciting cars planned for review!
U are missing out
I can’t believe you’ve compared the Yaris with the Fiesta, Renault or the Honda…this will far far outlast those POS cars, I’ve had three Toyota and put 250k on them with little or no trouble, those other cars won’t even be around by then
Got any more snide pot shots at the Toyota Yaris that you neglected to insinuate, you poisoned chalice?
Why is the presenter looking and talking away from the camera? Its off putting and not very nice to watch so get a new editor or new presenter.
I think the latter.
By using two cameras we can mix up the shots and get the best angle on the day, taking into account things like light etc. Feedback noted!
Remember?
It's the Fad! I hate it, and find it makes me want to look away from the screen to see what he is looking at!
Why is anyone bothered? People can’t cope without criticising something can they. Pathetic.
Where's your enthusiasm and passion? You're so absorbed with keeping up with the script that you strip your presentation of any spontaneity and appeal.
In complete fairness to him, who could ever get enthusiastic & passionate about a Toyota Yaris, for goodness sake, but I still know what you mean.
Sorry, Meni. We've got lots more videos in the pipeline - hopefully with some of the spontaneity you're looking for! Stick with us.
And that's your opinion, I don't really watch carwow anymore because the videos are too long and too silly. I'm pleased CarBuyer is back
thank you for buying a clio instead lol i don't think so
The presenter should slow down his speech. I struggled to keep up
Kabhi hum bhi lege kismat hogi toh
Inshallah
Where is Batch & Ginny? With all due respect, these new so-called presenters are duller than dishwater.
I’ve started my own channel Frank and I’ve reviewed this car already. Ginny is at Electrifying - come and join us on our own channels
But do give the new Carbuyer team a chance, it's really hard taking over from established presenters and I'm sure you'll enjoy their videos too. Thanks for your support, Ginny x

Achingly so. He's the type of bloke who'd fall asleep running for a bus.
@@frankbrennan1619 Sorry you think that, Frank. We've got loads of really great and engaging content to come so please do stick with us!
Far too expensive - and you'll never recoup the price difference in fuel savings. There are a lot of better superminis than this - for a lot less money.
Which other supermini would recommend then? Polo? i20? Sandero?
@@drillerkiller9 Depend on what's important to you.
For driving - Fiesta, Ibiza, Mazda 2
For space - Jazz, I20, Rio
For classy interior - Polo, Fabia
Decent boot - Jazz, Clio
In the UK the biggest sellers rarely change - Fiesta, Corsa, Polo, Mini.
I would guess that buyers who choose the Yaris are attracted by Toyotas' reputation for reliability, or by the hybrid technology - which is fair enough, but, as a car, it's mediocre.
@@jimmacgregor4122 Have you driven the Yaris, and all the other cars you mention?
@@nrt63 Own an Ibiza, previously a Fiesta - driven all the others (before I bought the Ibiza) - liked the Mazda, but not the others - especially the Yaris - cramped and noisy when accelerating.

The worst of both worlds
When the word “fun” is used in any car review it loses all credibility. Cars are not toys, if you need a certain kind of car to have “fun” then perhaps it shows immaturity.
Sorry. Some of us enjoy cars. Perhaps you need to find a cookery channel to watch.
I am the only one feeling strange when seeing you parking the car in the corner of the road? I, personally don't feel comfortable seeing that and I feel that you are giving a bad example.
Imagine coming from the opposite direction and you find someone parked right on the corner filming a car review... 🤦♂️
It’s a closed course 🤦♂️
@@oscarkanal if you know it for sure, that's great. Anyway, I was assuming it was a closed road but this is not changing what I said in any way. 👍
Many videos do that
Too repetitious and wooden. The use of multiple camera views is so passé, the man has a droning voice and knows very little about the car he is supposed to be reviewing.
The CVT is not the ordinary type but Toyota improvement of the concept.
Car Buyer bosses take note, this man might well be better in a different job.
so expancive
Why do these plastic presenters talk in riddles and rhymes and try to mimic clarkson - does grate a little/alot - just talk normally
I'll agree though the battery could be bigger. I wouldn't change anything else however
@@confounded_feline le prix est proportionnel à la taille de la batterie
Let get real here nobody wants automatic cars, this is not america. If toyota does not want to offer a 6 speed manual transmission normal gearbox in the through sense of the word, then the consumer should give them the heave-hoe or the two fingers in which ever order that's up to you. The same applies to all the rest of the car manufacturers out there that don't want to offer the option of both types. !
Bientôt la voiture électrique et aucun besoin d'une boîte manuelle.
