One artist stands out from the rest - Morrissey. He was and is one of a kind, and to me, he was The Smiths. I am so thankful he has shared his gift and songs that have the power to make you feel alive again.
Thank you for uploading - a really enjoyable episode for me! "Fine Time" is easily my favourite Yazz single and she looks absolutely fantastic here (and she is selling the song so well). "Looking for Linda" is a huge fave of mine - I would love to know the whole story behind the song.
Forgot to mention that the sax player in "Fine Time" looks a little like Phil Oakey from the Human League (another reason to completely adore the performance!)
I noticed there are some editions of top of the pops that have been blocked any chance of editing out the offending songs and reposting the shows so we can them.
@Radio Bits: Live singing on TOTP didn't start until well into the early 00's, they are not singing live even if the presenters are saying they are, all of its lip synched.
They are singing live to an instrumental track, meaning they are pretending to play the instruments but the vocals are most definitely live on that song.
dunno if anyone cares but if you are bored like me atm you can stream pretty much all the new movies on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my gf for the last couple of days xD
Back to the future of music , remembering lots of Stock Aitken & Waterman Records " DOMINATING " The Top 40 alot of them seriously PwL 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
I'd slightly argue leaning towards late 1987 being the real pivotal point in house music beginning to turn the tide for Italo-Disco and Euro-Disco, for even some of the artists like Albert one experimented in crossing over halfway to house with their song "Everybody" in 1988. It's definitely a coin toss to September/October 1987 or the beginning of 1988. Once MAARS - PUMP UP THE VOLUME shot up into the top 5 from mid-September 1987, the fate was definitely sealed. Perhaps that song just exacerbated the absolute inevitable in hindsight as it was slowly beginning to creep into the music scenes once 1987 began - although it was less prominent in the official top 40 charts. Those network/channel4 dance charts on the chart shows revealed quite a number of House songs hitting the top 10 after Jack Your Body and Jack the groove came in for the attack - which I only recently discovered.
I'll definitely go out on a limb and openly state that 1987 was the last year that music sounded predominantly 80s though overall. It was probably over 95% 80s sounding overall. Even Jack your body captivated a bit of an 80s feel I guess.

Well said!!
Agreed. A true individual.
Yazz must be in 2nd place.
Morrisseey has always been fantastic.
The one and only Morrissey surrounded by some of the most frightening musical performances ever recorded.
He possibly wasn't even in the same room as any of them. Often people recorded their stuff on different days never mind different times.
What a voice Michael has...outstanding
Everyday is like Sunday - classic
hue and cry brilliant.
If you're reading this, Moz: Love ya.
MORRISSEY
What a GAS it would've been to Live in Great Britain in the 60's thru the 80's!!!
*Mozzino* ❤🌻
That theme music KICKS!
michael ball had a great voice.didn't appreciate it then but i do now.
Ooh yeah, so fantastic. 🎶

@@fionag.3621 Fine Tine is my favorite Yazz song also!!
Look like Denise Welch in on lose women
@@emilioburini3701Mine too. It really highlights the beauty of her voice.
Oh yeah< Sam Fox! I know she's loads older than me, but heck, I still would.
She is a lesbian now
As a teenager, Rick Astley taught me how to dance!
Are you still awful at it?
A classic at No.1
Michael Ball still looks as young now as he did then.
You're funny
Must be the vax.
Viva Moz!
What ever happened to Yazz. & Sybil Rusco !
I noticed there are some editions of top of the pops that have been blocked any chance of editing out the offending songs and reposting the shows so we can them.
Are you sure it isn't because of certain paedo presenters?
The good old days before Sam Fox became a big old licky lemon.
That Hue & Cry performance was superbly done, even though the lyrical content is awful. His live vocals were sublime.
I agree, but what's wrong with the lyrics?
Don't you get it? It's a story. How is it awful?
i wonder why hue and cry sang live but the others didnt
@Radio Bits: Live singing on TOTP didn't start until well into the early 00's, they are not singing live even if the presenters are saying they are, all of its lip synched.
sorry Jane,they ARE singing live
Why do you think Hue and cry was live? None of their instruments were plugged in. THAT would prove it wasn’t live.
They are singing live to an instrumental track, meaning they are pretending to play the instruments but the vocals are most definitely live on that song.
Singing live, not playing live.
Hue and cry were the best thing on there
Mozzeroony
Hue and Cry, could have been massive, he had a great voice, but they got too much into politics rather than music shame !
In the most part 1989 was a shit year for chart music... then Mozza comes and saves the day.
dunno if anyone cares but if you are bored like me atm you can stream pretty much all the new movies on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my gf for the last couple of days xD
@Grant Emerson Yea, I have been watching on instaflixxer for months myself :D

Was this Mike Read's last Top Of The Pops?
Samantha Fox was hot for about 6 years then those page 3 looks tailed off badly in the 1990s.
Then she turned to the dark side.
1988 borned pop-house music and killed euro-dance and italodisco

Rick Astley is a legitimate artist far superior than bloody Stock Akin and Pete waterman
