I'm only just now realizing that Zim is fully grown but short, which makes sense as to why he's always been treated with disrespect by the others of his species. It never made sense to me why they would look down on him when he's just a child, but it's because he's NOT a child. He is a very capable adult, the others are just bullies who never let him reach his full potential
While yes, the others were massive bullies, i will point out that that's his species' culture. They value Height above all else, and he's so short he blends in with children perfectly, he has a mental disorder that makes him entirely dysfunctional and unable to perform his purpose in society, in a very utilitarian society, and he has a physical abnormality in the mechanical spider legs that come from his pack, which is also looked down upon rather harshly. Zim is quite literally everything his people consider undesirable. Zim's constant failures were actually him doing his best without anyone interfering beyond an actual child. He was operating at his full potential, he's just not suited to what his species wants.

Honestly I love this a lot. I think it captures Zim's character very well (assuming this is a looser interpretation where he has more feelings other than angry and is less oblivious to being mistreated by the tallest) I also usually dislike the way people draw Zim outside of the canon art style- it just never looks right to me. They either make him too cute or too round which just looks wrong. But this looks really good. I love how you showed him talking to himself (2:10) I feel like he is saying something like "you can lie to everyone else but you don't have to lie to yourself" but he is too determined (and egocentric) to ever admit defeat, even and especially to himself. Which is honestly one of his better qualities. not to mention I finally find IZ content with NO SHIPPING FOR ONCE Sorry I am not the best with words. All this to say: I like it. Subscribed btw
To me the Zim/Dib relationship works best as a Holmes/Moriarty conflict since they both push the other, but I don't mind the idea that maybe there's an underlying and unspoken friendship since they're the only smart ones on a planet of (relative) idiots

My favorite thing about Zims character in this animatic is the scenes that give him Pink Blood so it makes me think of Danganronpa besides that, this video is a masterpiece it looks like it took a lot of effort sweating and probably a couple of days so i admire the hardwork people put in to make these kinds of videos.
A convoluted simulation just to learn Dib threw a muffin at his head and then ends with shooting a muffin into Dib's face. This is a good example of Zim being intelligent but petty, like when he tricks Dib into revealing a "blind spot" in his security just to rush home and fix it
Okay I've been gaping at my screen for a while now, just replaying the video over and over again. It's absolutely stunning. There is so much thought put into it and every scene and I just really love it. I also love your color choices. They're so soft and pretty. And your artstyle! And the animations!! Simply amazing! ive been rewatching this animatic, "spaceship" and "im not crazy" regularly for the past year or so, they mean a lot to me and they changed me. i dont know what happened to the animator, but i hope u are okay and thriving. your works are very dear to me. im not even into invader zim, i just like your animatics specifically
Because zim has *maybe accidentally* commited many crimes in Irk (i don't even know if It's canon or not), kill the past tallests, causing blackouts on their home planet, being a defective(bruh idek what's wrong with being a defect), being so destructive to the point of destroying half of their planet and not to mention short.
This is such a good representation of Zims character its amazing!! I always thought that it was sadly ironic how loyal and determined he is for a fake cause considering his mission is fake and that he will probably be obsessed with earth until it is finally conquered/destroyed. I feel like Zim sees his body as nothing but a weapon to a cause and his emotions as something that only gets in the way. Great job!!
His pure determination and focus on his task is impressive to me. And his job technically isn’t even real, not to his leaders as least, to him is is very real. His life is his job. He was literally created to do a job. I wonder if any Irkens ever have stopped and thought for a second: “Why are we even invading all these planets? Holy shit you really went above and beyond here!! I love how smooth your animation is and how expressively you draw Zim. I really like all the abstract elements you used and the reference to the comics in there, and the song choice is pro, very fitting to Zim as a character and how determined he is to prove himself by any means necessary.
I watched this so many times over and over it’s SO FREAKN GOOD. Just the whole aspect that Zim is falling apart going through mazes and mazes trying to figure out how to please his tallest. Deep down he knows something is wrong as he slowly descends into madness in each attempt to take over the world. It’s all so GOOD.

oh wow, you just awakened the strangest feeling I had in awhile, where I knew all the lyrics to a song that I've never heard before. this song was orginally "All of My Friends" in early conceptions, a realeased song made by Tally Hall which the man who performed this was in. amazing animation! each transition is so smooth while the lines are really precise in each frame! This song fits Zim very well and really does capture his struggle alot, which was uniquely stylized and framed. Good luck to you on your future animations, as they're lovely!
I've been watching this over and over since it came out because I love the song and the animation, and I finally actually watched the show and now my opinion of this has risen beyond what I had believed possible, this is one of the best pieces of media I've ever laid my eyes upon.
This animatic is absolutely stunning. It's so beautifull. The art style, the transitions, the colour pallette, the plot. This looks like a professional storyboard rather than fan animatic. I'm totally in love with this and gonna rewatch it multiple times from now
Love the detail with the board having Zim's "evil plans" and until showing them I realized the 'fish guy' in the top right corner was Clembrane and the swirling disk was essntially the 'florpus hole' from "Enter the Florpus" and how the movie essentially ended with Zim revealing his plan ws basically stealing a ceremic animal from Dib's fireplace mantle. The fact he starts off in a maze could easily reflect the fact he's been trying to prove himself and been used like a 'test subject' but the Tallest until being exiled to Earth so he wouldn't get in their way

I completely love this video. The art style for these characters fits so well. I love the sad look that Dib gives Zim after punching him. He realizes that yes, Zim is trying to take over the world and needs to be stopped, but also... Zim's not in a good place mentally, and there's not much he can do about it. It's just kind of sad, and he can't help but feel a little pity for him. The only thing that's been bugging me is those failed plans. I know all of them except the cat. What's the cat supposed to be? I have no idea what episode or comic it's a reference to.
To say the truth, I wanted to watch invader Zim but for the moment I watched 1 or 2 episodes + the memes. And dude, this looks awesome for an animatic. God, I sympathize with Zim (and Dib). I wanted him to succeed in ANYTHING. The only one who took him seriously is the only other person nobody takes seriously. I wanted Zim to defeat Dib so Zim would be taken seriously by those his considers his friends, and so that Dib would be taken seriously by everyone around him. Zim may have caused his own suffering, but he doesn't deserve to stay in it.

In the series if you play close attention beneath the wacky dark humor and screaming, Dib and Zim have really tragic stories
I love how All of My Friends and I'm gonna win, whilst technically the same song, have completely different moods
Honestly I love this a lot. I think it captures Zim's character very well (assuming this is a looser interpretation where he has more feelings other than angry and is less oblivious to being mistreated by the tallest)
I also usually dislike the way people draw Zim outside of the canon art style- it just never looks right to me. They either make him too cute or too round which just looks wrong. But this looks really good.
I love how you showed him talking to himself (2:10) I feel like he is saying something like "you can lie to everyone else but you don't have to lie to yourself" but he is too determined (and egocentric) to ever admit defeat, even and especially to himself. Which is honestly one of his better qualities.

@@matthewsnyder9478 The thing on Zim's (the aliens) back. It's a weird kind of cybernetic that has a variety of features, most notably the PAK legs, which are exactly what they sound like.
@@matthewsnyder9478 The PAK also holds all of an irken's self and memories, and they can only survive for about five minutes without it. No one knows how Irkens originally reproduced but they're switched to creating offspring in test tubes, then using machines to raise them.
My favorite thing about Zims character in this animatic is the scenes that give him Pink Blood so it makes me think of Danganronpa besides that, this video is a masterpiece it looks like it took a lot of effort sweating and probably a couple of days so i admire the hardwork people put in to make these kinds of videos.

A convoluted simulation just to learn Dib threw a muffin at his head and then ends with shooting a muffin into Dib's face. This is a good example of Zim being intelligent but petty, like when he tricks Dib into revealing a "blind spot" in his security just to rush home and fix it
Okay I've been gaping at my screen for a while now, just replaying the video over and over again. It's absolutely stunning. There is so much thought put into it and every scene and I just really love it. I also love your color choices. They're so soft and pretty. And your artstyle! And the animations!! Simply amazing!

Because zim has *maybe accidentally* commited many crimes in Irk (i don't even know if It's canon or not), kill the past tallests, causing blackouts on their home planet, being a defective(bruh idek what's wrong with being a defect), being so destructive to the point of destroying half of their planet and not to mention short.
This is such a good representation of Zims character its amazing!! I always thought that it was sadly ironic how loyal and determined he is for a fake cause considering his mission is fake and that he will probably be obsessed with earth until it is finally conquered/destroyed. I feel like Zim sees his body as nothing but a weapon to a cause and his emotions as something that only gets in the way. Great job!!

I watched this so many times over and over it’s SO FREAKN GOOD. Just the whole aspect that Zim is falling apart going through mazes and mazes trying to figure out how to please his tallest. Deep down he knows something is wrong as he slowly descends into madness in each attempt to take over the world. It’s all so GOOD.

oh wow, you just awakened the strangest feeling I had in awhile, where I knew all the lyrics to a song that I've never heard before. this song was orginally "All of My Friends" in early conceptions, a realeased song made by Tally Hall which the man who performed this was in. amazing animation! each transition is so smooth while the lines are really precise in each frame! This song fits Zim very well and really does capture his struggle alot, which was uniquely stylized and framed.

This animatic is absolutely stunning. It's so beautifull. The art style, the transitions, the colour pallette, the plot. This looks like a professional storyboard rather than fan animatic. I'm totally in love with this and gonna rewatch it multiple times from now
This is the video that got me into IZ im so happy i found it again
Love the detail with the board having Zim's "evil plans" and until showing them I realized the 'fish guy' in the top right corner was Clembrane and the swirling disk was essntially the 'florpus hole' from "Enter the Florpus" and how the movie essentially ended with Zim revealing his plan ws basically stealing a ceremic animal from Dib's fireplace mantle. The fact he starts off in a maze could easily reflect the fact he's been trying to prove himself and been used like a 'test subject' but the Tallest until being exiled to Earth so he wouldn't get in their way

I completely love this video. The art style for these characters fits so well. I love the sad look that Dib gives Zim after punching him. He realizes that yes, Zim is trying to take over the world and needs to be stopped, but also... Zim's not in a good place mentally, and there's not much he can do about it. It's just kind of sad, and he can't help but feel a little pity for him.
The only thing that's been bugging me is those failed plans. I know all of them except the cat. What's the cat supposed to be? I have no idea what episode or comic it's a reference to.

God, I sympathize with Zim (and Dib). I wanted him to succeed in ANYTHING. The only one who took him seriously is the only other person nobody takes seriously. I wanted Zim to defeat Dib so Zim would be taken seriously by those his considers his friends, and so that Dib would be taken seriously by everyone around him. Zim may have caused his own suffering, but he doesn't deserve to stay in it.
This song fits so well. The animation and art is amazing. It feels very accurate for Zim. I can't explain how perfect this is. I have probably watched this 15 times already.
