- My first job was playing piano on an ocean liner going back and forth across the Atlantic. I was frequently in New York, and loved exploring the city. There was something unreal (and unforgettable) about standing out on deck on a sunny afternoon eating ice-cream as the Statue of Liberty passed behind us!
At the start of this year, I took a ship to America for the first time since I disembarked back in 2016. This time we were heading to Florida - a part of America I’d not previously explored - but memories of my earlier trips were recalled to my mind. As the Classical pianist, I had a piano in my cabin, and was able to write this piece of music on the way, hence the title “America”.
The Statue of Liberty aerial footage was shot by Kevin Bright who kindly allowed me to use it for this film.

Amazing, you have amazing audio, amazing camera shots and most importanly, trurly amazing music.
I got into composing some time ago and I simply don’t understand how you can compose such amazing pieces in a week’s time, I have spent a lot of time composing and yet only made 2 pieces which are nowhere near the quality of yours.
One day I hope I can be as good as you at writing music :)

This song really captures the spirit of America. It captures it's diversity, grandeur, simplicity, but also America's desire to grow to new heights - or the dreams of Americans through the ages, I suppose you could say. Very, very lovely, Luke. It is enchanting! 🇺🇸

What a **freeing** song. Also, a question, did you ever visit Boston? If so, tell me what people find interesting about it. It's historical and all, but going on vacation there? There's a ton of snow and its not even *that* nice. I'm a local and even I don't think it's that grand :/
I've visited Boston once, but only for a day - I was playing on a ship going from NY to Québec. I was technically working, so can't really speak for vacationers, but, for me, it felt a bit like a toned down version of New York.

I like the composition and the audio quality of the recording. As a side note, I think it would play well on a Blüthner piano (to accentuate the middle section more).
